This game was just revealed in the current issue of famitsu. Not much is known about this game except that's it being devloped by monolith soft and banpresto.

More information is in the link from DS Fanboy

Ever since the extremely disappointing SRT:OG games on the GBA, I've practically lost interest in the whole series in its entirety.

However, I'd be willing to give this one a chance. My DS is lonely, and I have faith in the development team this time.

I just saw those scans. Actually, this looks really slick. Very surprising. Day one, for me.

My DS is lonely,
There's really no reason for this.

EDIT: WTH is this? It looks nothing like SRT. I might give this one some thought, since the SRPGs are horrendous. Then again, Monolith Soft aren't exactly accomplished developers.

Misleading topic article.

This is a Namco X Capcom type of game, except that now it's a

Monolith X Banpresto one.

That makes sense then. I had a feeling it wasn't SRT. OP is an idiot.

Zantagor

besides, I don't recognize any of the "originals" shown there.
So I don't know from which SRW they would be from.
only robot I recognize there is the Gespenst and I played pretty much all the SRW games already out.

Sounds interesting, even if I prefer the Strategy Genre

I think it'll be an interesting idea I wanted to play Namco X Capcom but I don't import so this should make me feel better about that situation.

1. This game looks terrible, and thats coming from a gigantic SRW fan.
2. The originals are all new, the robots seem to be a mix of new ones and old ones
3. Game takes place in some kind of offshoot multiverse, not the same universe as the GBA OG 1-2

Apparently, Kos-Mos (Xeno Saga Series), Xiaomu & Reiji (Namco x Capcom) has been announced to be playable.

Whether this is a good thing or not is still debatable but since Terada is supervising this along with the ex-Banpresto staff Morizumi being the director so it shouldn't be that bad.

Plus it should be alot easier to control there own characters than copyrighted characters such as the normal SRW series or Compatible World Series (Hero Senki, The Great Battle Series, Super Hero Sakusen, etc etc etc)

I'm not sure why they're calling this SRW, I think it should have been given a little more effort and made into a new IP personally. Here's a new 11min. promo:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm3083358 or
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FHI4QHDHK1E

The animation looks really awesome, I hope if Atlus has the chance they bring it over here. The game comes out in Japan on May 29th.

It may look bad but it still sounds oh so fun. Plus since i heard that banpresto is developing a OG 3 for the DS i would assume if this got licensed we may see the light of day for OG 3.

Probably you already know this, but a fantranslation of Namco X Capcom is about to be released for the joy of all ^^

If you like megamix games, don't miss Chaos Wars, it sports Shadow Hearts, Gungrave, Growlanser and Spectral characters, and it should be localized in June by O3. Beware of the Idea Factory haters however, they have hired snipers to eliminate any buyer :|

A cowboy + mecha? That has potential. I still wish the actual SRW games could get brought over here though, half the fun of them is using things from your favorite shows.

Zantagor

Actually had a quick whirl with the game, doesn't seem bad at all.

They recycled a lot of musics from robot wars, like Lamia's theme(Ash to Ash) among others.

Would be nice to have this game localized, though that's probably wishful thinking at this point knowing Namco ;) (and there's probably a bit too much fan service for a DS release by them)

The new Issue of Play magazine has a preview of this game. According to them there should not be any licensing issues with this game. Pretty funny that they also called Atlus out telling them to bring this over here!:P

The game looks interesting and I'd definitely pick it up if it were localized.

Sure, I'd buy this.

It would be also a fresh start for the U.S. Seeing as they [Namco or Atlus] can sign on an "A+" dub studio and get credible voice actors.

Considering that SQUARE ENIX also saw the fact that fans of KH also wanted to try out KH -Re: Chain of Memories-. An international version of the GBA classic (aka; a true sequel to the original KH). Who knows, probably Namco or Atlus will also see that we want this that they will localize this.

I don't know if you realized it but Atlus only localizes games from the Banpresto label, they've been doing it for a long time now and have been continuing even though Bandai decided to restructure when they took over Namco. I doubt we'll be seeing any actual Namco games anytime soon.

uhh i'm not sure if i should really be saying this but...
this game isnt worth ALL this hype. I've already played it and it was a lot like Namco X Capcom minus the srpg. You basically press a button and you perform a whole series of attacks, and you can use up to 5 at a time. if this sounds really great, well it gets really repetitive and you would definitely tired from seeing the animations, even though they are really cool (unless you are like me and don't mind repetition). I like the game, but its not THAT great. Oh and by the way, you barely control mechs in the game.

Hmm, I wouldn't say it's as bad as you're making it sound.
True, one button is really all you need to attack.
However, it requires quite a surprising amount of strategy. Pressing the attack button at
the right time yields F-Gauge %points and continues a combo which counts for more damage.
And every attack has its own frame of switch so you have to practice enough to know where it is.
I have to add, the battle animations and character profile art are amazing! But the world map and world map sprite looks like a bad 90's game.
I've never been into SRW as much as the other members here so I don't miss the lack of controlling mechs in this game (though one of my favorite characters uses one in a very unconventional way).
The ultimate attacks are very flashy and there's a few seconds of anime-ish scene in every attack or special skill used. I'm not sure how far in I am in the Jp version, but I don't think you receive other ultimate attacks, but you do learn skills.

P.S.
Personally, I'm hoping the U.S. release can have the AWESOME bosses as playable characters! They all have their own ultimate attacks and anime scenes!
Please add a secret dungeon or something to get them! :C

Zeta_Nova
02-03-2009, 10:14 AM
Sonic, that's a matter of your opinion. Because personally, almost everybody here is welcoming the idea of this game.

And, I don't think it's quite that simple either, dispite that yes, you only press one button to attack (well, you also press "one" button to attack in the SRT games as well). As toszi said, there's quite some strategy that's also put into this game. You don't just attack straight out, but you can find what attacks works best with the current battle situation.

Add in the juggling combo for major damage.

Personally, I'm hoping the U.S. release can have the AWESOME bosses as playable characters! They all have their own ultimate attacks and anime scenes!
Please add a secret dungeon or something to get them!

Yeah, that'd be cool :). Then they'ed have a story of their own as well. Along with the heroes.
