How scary the past few days have been... I've been obsessively checking the site so much lately it was hard to deal with being cut off. :very_sad: I thought it may be a sign of an impending Demon Apocalypse! How did everyone else cope?

Speaking of impending demon apocalypses (http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3263).
Anyways my computer was COMPLETELY infested, it was ridiculous. files that the viris scan didn't even catch, files that I had to manually find and delete.

Actually, I thought the boards crashed. XD But until I checked my email, I finally new what had happened.
I say it's dancing with death to deal a blow to Atlus!

We're as glad to be back as all of you are! I'll use this time to apologize again for any inconvenience this whole ordeal caused.

I don't think it's Atlus' fault that this happened, you really shouldn't have to apologize.
But, I too am glad you guys are back online.

It's alright no need to apoglize, but man was it a crazy weekend. It wasn't just the fourms but all of Atlus.com was down including all the sites for their games.

I'm just surprised the forums weren't completely wiped out. You'd think that's where the exploit comes from.

It's great to see Atlus is back online. The last few days were kinda scary without the forums or the other Atlus websites.

Seriously glad that the site is back. Man, I felt like Atlus didn't exist anymore during these past few days, it was like a bright lantern in my life that was extinguished.
Hopefully you guys caught the one that is responsible.

it's not like it was that long ago and I know there were plenty before that. I was merely a lurker then -- decided to "join" after that big crash.

Did anyone get the bug? Adobe Acrobat tried to open when I visited the main site (seemed kind of strange in retrospect), then it hung and Norton opened an alert about a .pdf virus. It said it couldn't quarantine or clear the file of concern, but it didn't show up in the indicated folder (temp) or in repeated scans later. I have no idea if the file is gone, but there's no trace of it as far as I can tell.

Nope, I'm on a Mac. That's not to say Mac's are invulnerable, but its pretty rare to come across something for it.

I felt like posting here, but the site went down and instead I posted like eighty somthin' times on atlusonline. (Not bad compared to my post count here)

You, my friend, need to install some effective anti-virus software.

Company computer. The anti-virus software was a corporate version of Norton, not my choice. I have a Mac at home. :|
Anyway, here's what it looked like with some additional info (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2008-080702-2357-99):

I'm glad Atlus is back! :) Luckily, I was on college by the time the virus made it's move, so the first thing I did when I reach my home was to check my email, and that's when I found about the virus.

Did anyone get the bug?
I got it! ^_^
I have a copy saved to disk for storage and another copy I am decompiling.
Just tell me who did this Atlus!
I will use the full force of my misspent youth to get them :3

Well I missed the scare entirely but I am glad everything is alright. I'd hate for Atlus to experience any problems as fast as they're growing.

Ah, so the hijackers set up a Bloodhound Exploit?

Seems relatively simple and easy to remove.

Either way, I can't believe someone would attack Atlus. But then again, I also can't believe it's not butter, so... I just can't believe a lot of things, apparently.

This might be relevant. For the past 2 days, I've been hit with the same files he describes.
Keep in mind that after an infection such as this, the computer is beyond cleaning in most cases and you should just backup your files and reinstall Windows.
