What do you do when you enjoy artsy things but have no talent (drawing, painting, ect.) to help you express your creativity? You take up ceramics! No, not pottery like most of you are thinking, I'm talking about locating a mold of a piece that interests you (anything you can think of they've made a ceramic mold of, including dirty stuff) pour, clean the seams, fire, and paint!

I hope you all don't mind, but I'd like to share some of the pieces I've done. If anyone likes looking at these I'll share more later. If any of you share my hobby I'd love to see your work as well (sorry my photography sucks).

Your work is very good. My mother and sister used to paint ceramics all the time but your work is very impresive. Do have a few questions though. Do you only paint or have you made any molds yet? Do you own your own kiln?

I only paint; I'll never have the talent or someone to teach me how to make them.

Do you own your own kiln?

No, I take class on Monday nights or other days if she has the time for extra one, but I've been all over my state searching shops for molds I want. The lady I go to bought the shop from her aunt and really doesn't know what she's doing. I basically pay her $2 per class to use her shop and resources.

I love the rabbit one!

Back in high school art class I used to do some scuplting, but wasn't very good. I used to do alot of art back then, now that I look at it...

I should get back into art.

The Rabbit is actually a teapot, yes?

Yep! I don't use it as that, though. I got it because he reminded me of the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

To everyone: Thanks so much for the kind comments!

Those are very nice! It took me another look to realize just how large that first piece really is.

With your talent, I somewhat regret you live so far from Texas. My family has a shed full of molds we tried to give away and found no takers. It's become a lost art as so few are interested in it down here. I still refuse to allow them to crush them up to fill in the drive way though.

Ugh... That piece was such a pain! I had to stand the whole time while I painted her and it got really awkward at some points.

WHAT?! Omigosh, you're just giving them away! Yeah, it seems like it's a pretty lost art everywhere, which I don't get because I think it's a lot of fun.

I got a photobucket account with forty pieces in it so far: http://s620.photobucket.com/albums/tt289/Mad_Hatteress/Ceramics/
