Am I screwed or is there anywhere cheaper?

I suppose you could ask DamageCity to get one for you, or make a friend that lives in Japan...

I want a million dollars, but I don't want to do any work while earning that kind of money. Anyone want to help a girl out?

(VJ, before you ask, NO)

Play-Asia has all that ugly markup and shipping on their import systems. Therefore, a thrifty shopper would fly to Japan and purchase the system in person. I'm sure you can get them all over the place.

^I don't know if shipping is much of a mark up (maybe you just mean the extra cost of shipping in general). I've had private sellers and friends ship me systems from Japan and it was about the same. EMS is a very efficient but costly service.

A few years back, PA was cheaper than quite a few other places when it came to consoles.

I'm not familiar with the games System_Error talked about (aside from the fact they're shumps), but I know that alot of 360 games are not region locked. Maybe you could find an Asia version or something...?

I don't want to be responsible for sending hardware. I don't need the headache.

Just so you know, I never expected to you to be Damage. I was just kinda looking for a place online that might have been cheaper than Play-Asia's ~300.00 for an arcade with 70.00 shipping lol.

I'd just buy an Arcade unit and softmod it. Use the other one for everything else (Live support and so on).

Get a refurb if need be. The warranty will be void, anyhow.

I believe Futomimi is suggesting that TC is making an unrealistic request.

Why do you want a Japanese Xbox 360?

As far as I know, JPN 360 games are region coded as NTSC, not NTSC-J, so they can be played on a North American Xbox 360.

And to download JPN Marketplace content, you just need a Japanese Xbox Live account.

He meant the "(VJ, before you ask... NO)" part. :P

VJ, it was a joke implying that you would ask me to do lewd things for a million dollars. Maybe things involving my socks.

I don't know if it works like that with 360. I mean PS1/PS2/GCN games still had the NTSC-J coding but they still wouldn't work on North American systems. Granted, the region issue with 360 games is still pretty hazy right now as it's on a game-by-game basis, so it's hard to say.

My understanding is that most US games run on a JP 360, but most of the JP-only games dont run on a US 360. So getting a JP 360 is nice because you can play the JP only games, but the US worldwide games (RE5, tales, etc) will run on it too.

As far as xbox market goes, I'm pretty sure that if you arent on a JP xbox, you cant access the JP marketplace. I don't think its like a PS3 where you can just register a JP region user. So if you wanna download those aracade shooters from XBLA, you will need the JP 360.

Please correct me if im wrong.

You can acces the JP marketplace with a JP Live account, regardless of your consoles region.

And I'm pretty sure JPN Xbox 360 games are NTSC, not NTSC-J.

Then you're pretty wrong.

Some 360 games are region encoded, some aren't. You just have to look up which.
