I thought that we could have a thread like this. If people want a certain game, game of a certain genre or a game at all, people could tell them why/why not to buy it or recommend one they think they would like. Or you can just come with a random recommendation, with some additional info like the system it's for, genre, why you think other people should like it etc.

And to make it easier for other people to judge if you would like the game or what game they should recommend to you, it would be best if you would list up what other similar games you like and stuff like that.

Ok, why I thought about making this thread in the first place: I have always been interested in Etrian Odyssey, but I have heard mixed things about it. I like the moe style, and I love RPGs on the DS. I like grinding for hours in Disgaea, customizing characters in FFTA/2, dungeon crawling in Tartarus (although very repetive after a while). I hate it when games get TOO DAMN HARD, but I still like the occasional challenge. Also, if I should get it, should I get the first or the second? I really can't afford both.

1st or 2nd, all good. You need to play both anyway, or you're not a true faithful.

Etrian Odyssey is moe? First time I heard that.

Well, there are small girls who looks like they are more detailed versions of the Lucky Star characters. I'm not really that into moe or anything, I just meant CUTE LITTLE ANIME GIRLS LOL.

But jeffx, I'm extremely tight on money and I really just want the one that gives the most satisfaction in the gameplay department :( I could PROBABLY do an exception if it's so important to get both story-wise.

I did say OR, not "and". I guess go for 1 first, but since your monetary situation is that bad, I believe the second one is easier to find AND cheaper too (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/search?q=etrian+odyssey&submit=Search).

You'll get your money's worth from both, that's all I'm trying to say here.

Yeah, but since you said I need to play both, there was a chance you meant story-wise. I don't know, I would get both if I buy the first one now and wait until I can afford the second. But when it comes to slightly unpopular DS games, I'm always afraid they suddenly become impossible to find at a reasonable price.

Definitely don't miss the Etrian series. I would say that you should go with the second, though... it improved on the first in a lot of ways. And you're really not going to miss much from the story by skipping the first.
