i looked through all four pages of threads in this section for the "what did you eat today?" thread and seriously couldn't find it, but my cat was biting the underneath of my arm the entire time, so it's entirely possible that i missed it.

anyway, .. well??

for lunch we went to a yummy vietnamese restaraunt in town! i had the mushroom shrimp with white rice and an iced coffee. kaki had the curry beef, YUM!, which to be honest, i was jealous of, and he had it with fried rice and an egg roll. and mt dew.

did you know chewing ice cubes means that you have a high level of sexual frustration? and that this one chick comes to my coffee shop about three times a day to fill up a HUGE cup (like big gulp size) of ice cubes. i can't imagine it's so great for your teeth, either.

yuuumm, cammy, that sounds good. i just got back from a nice jog with my dog &now i want one.

You have NO idea! My wife got my Nana's recipe that came over with her from Poland. Every X-mas and Easter she makes a bunch of them and sends them back to both our families (overnight mail). She also makes 3-4 for us (they freeze well). One of the best parts of either holiday for me! :)

It's chinese new year now so I just had some glutinous rice cakes. It's white in color made with glutinous rice and sugar. It's quite messy to cook since you have to slice it into bite size pieces then dipped in 1 beaten egg then shallow fried in cooking oil but it's so delicious it's one of my favorite treats.

Aren't you about 3 days too late (4 days, depending on your time zone) to be celebrating Lunar New Year now?

Is anyone else a nostalgic eater? Do you kind of miss some foods you had a long time ago?
One thing I kind of miss is a Chocolate Soldier drink, it's similar to the Yoohoo drinks (watery chocolate flavor).

Another thing is a "cream filled bogie" which is a honeybun, with bavarian cream or custard in it, drizzled with chocolate. I actually found them at 7-11 recently though.

Finally, there is "Jolt Cola" - All the sugar and twice the caffeine! I think it's been rebranded as an energy drink, I've seen it at some Walgreens pharmacies.

There is a Big Lots close to my home, but I've never been inside one. Do you know if they sell Xbox 360 games? If so do they have a discounted price?

Evilkinggumby
03-17-2010, 08:00 PM
big lots typically sells whatever is being discontinued or cleared out from local retailers(or national in some cases). They may sell xbox 360 games, but most likely if they did it'd be ones that are already piling up at the gamestop/ebgame stores(like old sports titles) that no one really wants. They seem to get a lot of older unsuccessful pc games, I've gotten my hands on a few for dirt cheap that were actually pretty kool. Flawed, but worth the $6 i paid. :) So yeah Big Lots is a possibility.. but I wouldn't expect to find much games wise.

Off-topic:

Big Lots has had some AMAZING stuff, however.

I picked up a ton of TV seasons for $3 or $6 (depending on the set):
Animaniacs, Flintstones, Thundercats, Wacky Races complete series, Dukes of Hazzard, and many more.

I think it eventually came out that Warner Bros. paid some company to destroy leftover sets (why they would do that, I don't know), and the company instead sold the sets to Big Lots (who thought it was legit.)

Heck, WB, sell 'em to the consumer at discounted prices, instead of paying someone to destroy them!

Ahh, so YOU'RE the lunch-room thief!!

After a few Subway sandwiches disappeared from one of my jobs, I was thinking of making a trap sandwich... either put some of those little mega-hot dried Chinese peppers on it, or something like Ipecac, etc., that would make the thief throw up...

I waws planning to make fajitas, but I think they came out more like quesadillas. I started with a tortilla, put some fajita chicken meat on it, covered it with Mexican cheese, put another tortilla on top, and zapped it for 30-45 seconds. Then I put some guacamole and sour cream on top.

I was getting tired of frozen dinners, so I decided to make something.

I went with shrimp with bow-tie pasta, in a vodka sauce (store-bought - tomatoes, vodka, cream, etc.). I didn't want plain old tomato sauce, and alfredo didn't seem to be quite what I was looking for this time.

I added a 12oz. package of mixed vegetables - cauliflower, carrots, and sugar snap peas in a basil butter sauce (I just mixed it into the main dish.) I probably could have used twice the number of veggies, since I used a full pound of dry pasta (the whole box).

I also threw in two cans of mushrooms... I like mushrooms in just about any type of casserole/pasta dish like this - Spaghetti, chili, Hamburger Helpers, etc.

Finally (I almost forgot to put them in) I tossed in 2 packs of the bacon recipe pieces you find in the salad aisle.

The end result was "YUMMY" to turn a phrase. ^_^

I had some flan for dessert, ya can't go wrong with flan!

Yep... you guessed it!

Spaghetti!

I should have added some diced tomatoes in it, along with the hamburger meat and mushrooms.

I've got a one pot way to cook it in the microwave...

1. cook 1 pound of hamburger meat (low fat 93-7 or something) in the microwave for about 5-7 minutes stirring once, during cooking add some dried onions (or chop up an onion if you like). Add powdered garlic (or a garlic clove or two, chopped up), some basil, and my signature - cardamom.

2. Add 8 ounces of spaghetti, broken up, 2 cups of water, and a jar of spaghetti sauce (or 2 cans). Also add the diced tomatoes and 2 cans of mushrooms (if you like 'em)

3. Microwave covered about 15-20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.. Add parmesan cheese if you like.

EAT 'EM UP! YUM!

I had 3 Mini Angus-Steak Cheeseburgers, I added some A-1 sauce and a slice of pre-cooked bacon to each one.

The other day I ate a box of White Castle cheeseburgers, I probably should have just had half the box at a time, but they chew down so small that I wouldn't have felt full.

For the meals in between the White Castle and the Angus burgers today, I was craving baked potatoes, so I decided to get everything I needed for a loaded baked potato - Sour Cream, Shredded Cheese, green onions (chives would have been better,) and bacon bits (real, of course.) I had 3 potatoes, but I'll probably get a couple more to use up the other ingredients.

I think I need to make this, minus the caviar. Is the recipe just how it sounds? What kind of vinegar did you use for the vinagrette? Red wine?

I wouldn't see what the problem would be... It's just fries, gravy, and cheese curds, right? Now, that Bacon Explosion thing that I posted in the Bacon thread, yeah, that might cause some problems on the lower deck, particularly if someone ate more than a small serving...

Ahh, lunch was just leftover Hamburger Helper (4 Cheese Lasagna, with the lovely 'shrooms! )
For supper though, I made half of one of the Wal-Mart brand Pizzas (3 Meat w/ Focaccia Crust,) pretty darn good for a pretty darn good price... I had one of the BBQ Chicken pizzas w/ thin crust the other day, although I prefer a bigger crust usually. I've got a Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza in the freeser, I think it has a rising crust. My oven has a bad element, so I've just been breaking the frozen pizzas in half, and cooking them in the toaster oven. Plus, that way I get a fresh half pizza the second time around, instead of something that was cooked, refrigerated, and microwaved...
