For those whom may be interested, Microsoft just released information about a free XBox Live Arcade Game "Undertow" that will be made available from Wednesday, 2:00 a.m. PST through Sunday, 11:59 p.m. PST. Available for both Gold and Silver accounts

This is there "token of appreciation" for those whom where affected by the connectivity issues since the holidays. The game was originally released on 11/21/2007 for 800 Microsoft Points.

But one question hasn't been answered as of yet, What if you already owned this game?

Here is the link to the offical press release.

A free game is always nice, but it doesn't seem all that great for the people who pay for a gold membership.

Hopefully they will have some kind of alternative for people who already have the game.

Please take the following info with a grain of salt, since I have not been able to conferm or deny it as of yet.

If you register on www.thatgamecalledrez.com, 50 people will be randomly drawn to receive a free copy of the XBLA game Rez HD.

There is no notification about this on the site (at least none that I could find easly), However going though the registration prossess, You will notice a checkbox to enter in the drawing.

Gillian Seed

that shot and cactaur vs Dawn of Dead and Dead Rising are different situations. That shot is harmless, Dead Rising, though, has borrowed so much from Dawn of the Dead that the law suit is understandable. Considering Castlevania Chronicles (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/10/esrb-hints-at-castlevania-chronicles-coming-to-psn/) still hasn't been released on PSN I'm guessing a year or maybe even more? Plenty of time for collectors to sell their copy.

The game still looks great hooked up to my 22" monitor via VGA, and even looked good hooked up via s-video on my 30" CRT HDTV, but I sure this will look much better on my 65" 1080p TV in the living room than my Dreamcast could ever make it, espeically considering the fact that it doesn't have a VGA input so the best I could do is 480i. Still, with out online play I don't really have much of a reason to buy it again, I hope Namco changes their mind...

http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10620&Itemid=2&limit=1&limitstart=0

but the one thing of note.. and a godsent for anyone cursed with DRM crippled games.. is the quote

There will however be a change to DRM policy and a tool released next month that will allow 360 owners to re-license content to a single console—finally fixing the issue that forced gamers playing XBLA games to be connected to Xbox LIVE if their 360 broke down and was replaced.

But I'm not 100% sure if this tool can also be applied if you picked up an Elite and want to transfer over your DRMs. I guess only time will tell on that one.

Looks a little more like an SNES game, really. Why can't it be better than Gradius V? I thought that one felt too much like a horizontal Ikaruga and didn't much care for it. A lot of people like the old visuals and it gives the devs an opportunity to release a full Gradius game without inflating the budget to make it look "next-gen." Most people would rather have an affordable, low-graphics Gradius game that can still retain all the substance of Gradius rather than no Gradius game at all. Some people would rather have that than a "next-gen" one that wouldn't sell adequately, too.

I don't get the accusation of nostalgia in this case. Mega Man 9 is a more understandable accusation (that I still disagree with), but here, I don't quite see it. What else were they supposed to do?

Sayckeone

Yeah, actually sort of an early SNES game.

Also, because GV was the ####ing absolute ####.

What else were they supposed to do?
Make it a step above V?

As for affordable lo-res, that's bull####. Look at all the PSN and XBLA games that have great graphics and are only $10.

Quick question for those who have played ys book 1&2 on the turbo duo.

Sei

They are good games, if short. the have a lot more of a shooter feel than most action Rpg's, specially the second. On the first one, you basically bonk against enemies, and depending on the angle and speed of contact, things happen, the second one has magic, and shooter type fights against bosses.

They have bautifull music and a pretty cool plot.

If you can, you should dig up the eternal complete versions for PC, they are the best.

I hope that helps.

Most of that grappling is left out of the main stages, though, so you don't have to worry about it too much if you don't do the optional stuff, which there is a decent amount of.

Anything you buy on PSN is tied directly to your account and PS3, so if you swap hard drives later on all you need to do is download it again. IIRC, you have an unlimited amount of times to download to your account and PS3, and a download limit of up to five different (i.e not your main console) PS3's. In case you want to download the game on another system or swap with friends.

^ So all of my accounts on this PS3 will be able to play it even after I get a new HDD? I really don't want to get it for 360 with their crappy Dpad. I also like that the PSN store works on money and not moon units that are worth more than dollars. I have the impression that I can load my account with just enough money to buy the game, is this correct? Don't wanna leave anything in there.

Most games come with a 5 PS3 (meaning physical systems, not accounts) license. Multiple accounts on a single PS3 is fine. I think the only exception is Super Stardust HD.

For example, I bought Siren: Blood Curse, and my brother, from his own PS3 in a completely different state, can log into my PSN account, download the game, and log into his own PSN account and play it as if he bought it himself.

I also like that the PSN store works on money and not moon units that are worth more than dollars. I have the impression that I can load my account with just enough money to buy the game, is this correct? Don't wanna leave anything in there.
There's a minimum they make you put in your "wallet," ($5, I think) but anything over that, you're right.

BC:R PS3 > BC:R 360.

I just played the Bionic Commando: Rearmed demo twice each on both PS3 and 360. The verdict: the PS3 version is better due to the DS3/SIXAXIS. I find everything much more fluid using the Triple controller. With the 360 controller, I find myself hitting the wrong buttons frequently. Plus, it's dpad blows.

As of right now, I have more achievements than anyone who owns BC: Rearmed and is a member of MyGamerCard.net. Which is, currently, 14,767 people. You can see with the 1 (+0), meaning I have the most and no one is tied with me... As opposed to something like Halo, where I'm 1 and 105,133 people are tied with me :P. Loving this game. Still need to get a couple more achievements, and they're ####ing hard ones, too.

It's also worth mentioning the PS3 version features an exclusive challenge room (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/08/14/bionic-commando-will-have-psn-exclusive-challenge-room/). The key part of the article though is Capcom's quote concerning any more surprises or announcements for the PS3.

Some of you may be asking, 'Come on John D, was that's it?' Um, if I say more, the PR team will kick my a$$, so I'll leave it as a definitely, maybe.

Some people suspect it will be Dead Rising (http://kotaku.com/5035371/will-there-be-dead-rising-ps3).

Mother ####er, Super Hard is just as the name implies.

http://www.bioniccommando.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73

And the answer would be that Super Hard is REALLY, REALLY hard.

The number of people that will beat it is probably less than a 1000. Therefore we wanted to give people more points for more of the "realistic" achievements.

I beat challenge mode the day before yesterday and wrote two guides partially day before yesterday and partially yesterday morning. I submitted them to GameFAQs, but had to reformat them today because I didn't have 79 characters per line (GameFAQs has such an archaic way to submit files). The guides are for the database and for all the hidden/items and secrets, I hope they help anybody getting into the game out.

Anyone who doesn't have BC: Rearmed yet needs to get it. The game is seriously great, I haven't been this addicted to a game in such a long time, it's pretty ridiculous.

Edit: To anyone using the BC: Rearmed themes on the PS3, each time you select it, it will select a different character artwork to be in the background of the wallpaper of the theme. Kinda neat.

WII-KLY UPDATE: ONE WIIWARE GAME AND TWO VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Aug. 25, 2008

Hollywood packs its share of excitement, but video games can deliver just as many mind-blowing thrills as the biggest summer blockbuster. For proof, look no further than this week's powerhouse additions to the Wii? Shop Channel. With a mesmerizing new WiiWare? title and two action-packed classics for the Virtual Console?, you'll find captivating visuals, memorable characters and richly interactive tales that impress on screens of all sizes. With or without popcorn, the fun is yours to savor.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii? owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points? to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

WiiWare

Helix? (Ghostfire Games, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Helix is one of the most innovative music-rhythm games ever designed for the Wii console. Use the Wii Remote? controller to do dozens of exciting moves, including punches, circles, back fists, hooks and more. Be mesmerized by the eye-popping background visuals, which pulse to the beat of the music. Enjoy incredible replay value with 26 songs to play and three difficulty levels. Try to unlock all of the songs. This game is great for getting exercise plus having fun. No buttons are required, so it's easy for anyone to pick up but difficult for even the best players to master.

Virtual Console

Ys Book I & II (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): Ys Book I & II chronicles the first adventures of Adol Christin, a young, red-haired swordsman on a quest to unlock the secrets of an ancient kingdom. As Adol, you search the island of Esteria, gathering clues to unravel the mystery of Ys. Fight monsters that lurk in caves and towers with physical or magical attacks, and use your brain to make your way through dangerous areas filled with traps. In Ys Book I & II, the first titles in the Ys series were put together as a single TurboGrafx CD-ROM. They awed players with their gripping story lines accompanied by fully orchestrated soundtracks, wonderful voice acting and amazing special effects. Don't miss out on your chance to experience this wonderful piece of gaming history.

SAMURAI SHODOWN 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen-Blood, Language, Tobacco Reference, Violence, 900 Wii Points): First released in 1994, this fighting game follows 15 samurai in their individual quests. The rage system, which was popular in the first game, has been further enhanced. Not only does attack power rise when the gauge is full, but the player can also use a special technique that can break the opponent's weapon and force the opponent to fight unarmed. The game also allows for more movement techniques such as back-stepping, rushing forward and ducking, allowing for even more strategies. A fun and important detail of this game: One of the new characters, Cham Cham, was voiced by voice actress Reiko Chiba, an idol in the gaming community.

Castle Crashers is pretty fun and has a lot of replay value, but the single-player isn't very good... The game was clearly crafted to have more than one player and playing alone can be boring. I strongly suggest it if you have a friend or two to play it with (or three, it is 4-player) and even have a passing interest in beat 'em ups, but if you're going to be playing by yourself, I suggest skipping out on it unless you're a fairly big fan of beat 'em ups. Remember before buying this, the full title for the game is "Castle Crashers: 4 Player Adventure."

Be careful, though, especially if you have crappy internet. The game requires you to have a decent ping with your friends (Decent being about 100 or under), otherwise it has a ludicrously high chance of randomly DC'ing your friends with low ping. Bizarre, the game will almost exclusively and instantly drop your friends between stage transfer screens, meaning your friends will generally disconnect after completing a level and get nothing from having done it (the game also saves after exiting a level, but doesn't save before DC'ing, which can be obnoxious).

Although I ended up getting a lagless connection with one of my friends, I couldn't really even play with two others, but their internet connection was acting somewhat weakly, so I'm not entirely sure how reflective of others' experiences this will be. The connection was lagging so badly with one friend I managed to glitch my Alien Hominid character and pick a weapon with him up that I wasn't supposed to. The Alien Hominid is meant to only be able to hold one weapon (his blaster), and I somehow picked up a pitchfork.

After that, it was impossible to pick my blaster back up under any circumstances (the Alien Hominid isn't supposed to be able to pick up any weapon), including going back to the weapon area on local single-player and trying to pick it up. Strangely, the pitchfork would transform into a blaster whenever I fired it. Although I was only level 6, this forced me to reset my Alien Hominid or deal with that bizarre graphical error for (I'm almost certain) permanently.

WII-KLY UPDATE: TWO WIIWARE GAMES AND TWO VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Oct. 13, 2008

Armchair physicists rejoice! The hotly anticipated award-winning World of Goo™ makes its WiiWare™ debut this week, inviting players to build infinitely fascinating structures out of Goo and uncover the mystery behind the World of Goo Corporation. Other cool additions to the Wii Shop Channel™ this week include Art Style™: CUBELLO™, the second installment in Nintendo's Art Style series, and a pair of classics for the Virtual Console™: SECRET OF MANA™ and STREET FIGHTER™ II': SPECIAL CHAMPION EDITION. Fun offerings like these are sure to heat up your October, no matter how low the autumn temperatures may go.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

WiiWare

World of Goo (2D Boy, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 1,500 Wii Points): World of Goo is an award-winning, physics-based puzzle/construction game made entirely by two guys. Grab living, squirming, talking globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins and giant tongues. The millions of Goo Balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore—but they don't know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious. World of Goo Corporation is contractually obligated to state that everyone is a winner, and is enthusiastic to celebrate everyone's Goo building opportunities equally.

Art Style: CUBELLO (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Art Style: CUBELLO mixes the strategy and feel of a traditional puzzle game with the precision and reflexes required in a shooter. As each stage begins, various colored cubes form into one large object called a Cubello, which floats and rotates as you play. Launch additional cubes from your magazine and try to connect four or more of the same color, removing them from the Cubello and eventually leaving only its core. Take on the challenge of either Stage or Endless mode and watch what happens when Bonus Time is activated. The straightforward controls and goal ensure that anyone can play, while offering enough depth that even advanced players will find themselves quickly addicted to the unique world of Art Style: CUBELLO.

Virtual Console

SECRET OF MANA (Super NES™, 1-3 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 800 Wii Points): Good and evil battle for a young warrior's heart. There is one force in the universe that keeps good and evil in perfect balance. It is called the tree of Mana. But a magic sword has tricked a young warrior into upsetting this balance, spreading evil throughout the land. Thus, the warrior must undertake a dangerous journey to find the seeds of the Mana tree, which have been hidden for centuries. Only then can perfect harmony be restored. In this incredible adventure, things are not as they seem. Magic swords release evil as well as fight it. Treasure chests hold booby traps. Monsters are friends and friends are enemies. Potions give power, black magic takes it away. Dragons fly, weapons change. It's a world turned upside down that you must help the warrior make right. And the only way to succeed is to solve the Secret of Mana.

STREET FIGHTER II': SPECIAL CHAMPION EDITION (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen—Violence, 800 Wii Points): STREET FIGHTER II': SPECIAL CHAMPION EDITION was the first STREET FIGHTER game released for the Sega Genesis console. The STREET FIGHTER series can be considered one of the first fighting games to popularize competitive video game fighting. This version of the game contains both the CHAMPION and HYPER rule sets, from the two editions released in the arcades. It also introduced an exclusive Group Battle mode that is now a general feature in most fighting games. Play as one of 12 different characters, each with their own distinctive fighting style. Try single-player mode or challenge a friend in this legendary, classic fighting game.

Yes, you read that right, Secret of mana is FINALLY on the VC. If you have spare Wii points lying around, download this game ASAP!!!!!!
