View Full Version : Why couldn't I get this at Gamestop?

It is really strange. GameStop has Tokyo Beat Down listed on their website, but I was never able to reserve it at any of their stores (I've tried a few times over the past month). I've even stopped by a couple since Wednesday and no where has it.
I'm just going to order it from amazon.com (a company I like better anyway), but I thought it was really odd that I couldn't preorder it and no stores in my area got it in (nor have it in their incoming shipments so they say).
It's the exact same situation for me. I had tried pre-ordering it from Gamestop several times about one to two months before release and they always said it's in their system but not reservable. Then today I stopped into a few different stores and none had it and none could really give a reasonable explanation why.
Tokyo Beat Down isn't listed in their book of release dates either. I normally shop online but I've got a few gift cards I was wanting to use up at Gamestop. Suppose I'll just save 'em until mid-April for The Dark Spire.

This happened with a few other games, and usually if it's in the system but not reservable that usually means GS will get it later than the actual release date. At least, that's how it went with Trackmania.
I would have reserved this too! Also Flower, Sun, and Rain (the Suda 51 DS game) has the same issue in that it's in the system but not reservable. Yargh!

Trying to get this game from Gamestop has been like pulling teeth.
I've been unable to pre-order it and now we're 3 days past the 'release date' and they still don't have any copies.
First, TrackMania DS was 3 days late and now it looks like I'll be waiting a week after the release date for TBD.
Preordering from Amazon isn't necessarily a better idea since it takes a week for them to get it to my house and the last time I trusted those guys, my Legacy of Ys box (that arrived a week late) was crushed because they shipped the game in an envelope. Lame!
I just thought I'd bitch a little. Carry on.

I've stop getting my games from Gamestop (They're still called EBGames here) a while ago cause they always get the games late and when you ask about a pre-order or a game that's not out yet, they never know if or when they'll get it.
I've been ordering from amazon.ca for a couple of years now and never got dissapointed.
Maybe I was just lucky though.

Just an FYI, Tokyo beat Down came in to Gamestop today (at least my Gamestop). We only got 2 copies (1 of which I quickly purchased), so if you're still looking, I'd call ahead.

The GameStop stores around me have also received the game finally, and I picked it up at the same time as Hammerin' Hero.

I ordered mine from amazon.com Monday, so I should be getting it by Thursday. I am pleased to hear that GameStop has finally started recieving the game though. It would have been unfortunate if this game weren't available at the biggest game retailer in the US.
Delition, I had completely forgotten about Hammerin' Hero. Glad you mentioned it.
