Infinite Undiscovery 2 confirmed???

I hope not (though I did notice what could be another moon chained to the earth, but that would be too easy). It better be VP3... or something that's actually new (and hopefully doesn't suck).

Even though I loved the first one...I hope not, since 2 IMO stunk and I heard CotP was average at best.

I doubt it would be Infinite Undiscovery 2 because MS owns the IP, not S-E/tri-Ace. A multiplatform release for a game in that series would be impossible unless MS sold it back to S-E.

What do you mean by grindy? I also liked the game. I thought it was much better than pretty much any game Tri-Ace had made up to that point.

I always though S-E owned tri-Ace, hence they would publish their games. Or is this something else? (i.e.: maybe S-E is a little stretched right now with FFXIII and all, so Sega will handle this one)
Story sounds a hell of a lot like FFVII though. Here's your remake, kids!

Lol, the game's been revealed but the countdown is still at 41 hours.
Square-Enix will most likely localize it, like they did with all of tri-Ace's other games.

I have high hopes for this based on its art style...most every jrpg thus far into the "current gen" has been horrible... at least the ones being brought over. The only good ones I have played would have to be Valkyria Chronicles (awesome!) and Disgaea 3

When I saw the initial trailer and the name my first though was a Infinite undiscovery sequel. Even the blond haired guy in the city that was snowing led me to believe that the story was now encircling him. Honestly I enjoyed Infinite undiscovery outside of the first 2 hours where it felt largely like a mediocre rpg that I could just as easily play online somewhere. Though I know full well the Inifinite undiscovery had it's flaws it had a really intriguing story line and my only real gripe outside of the first two hours was the ending Capel, though i enjoyed his character immensely should of died, i felt it would of made the ending far more relevant.

I own almost all of the PS2 Square-Enix titles, working on getting the 360 ones (no PS3 ;_; ) I played a few minutes of IU when I had it, but I didn't enjoy it, however now that its $20 I cant afford not to go get one. XD I liked VP 2 but I wanted to finish VP1 first.. still didnt pick up VP:CotP.
I'm one of the only ones that absolutely HATED Star Ocean 3 (I love 1 and 2 and blue sphere... sucks they couldnt translate the mobile phone vers..) but I was looking forward to picking up SO4 when I had the money. Same with ToVesperia. Next gen is so expensive for me. @.@

Action. The enemies only move and attack when your characters do.
The Jp demo is out today so you can always check it out for yourself.

Just tried the demo, kinda confusing. So I should basically try to press square, cross that line between the two other guys so it becomes blue, and press square just a moment before the character cross the line and press X to shoot the enemies just as my character turns blue (crosses that line)? Because I noticed the attacks being much stronger when I did that, and when that ring is allowed to go around a couple of times there seems to be a multiplier...

Yeah, Sega ain't too smart with these things. Not to mention I've seen pretty much no publicity for it.

Wait, this is a March title?
Stupid Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Resonance-Fate-Playstation-3/dp/B002BRYHY0/), I thought it was a late-May title, so I thought I didn't have to worry about this impacting my March gaming budget. :x
FF13, SMT:SJ, Infinite Space, Yakuza 3, and now this............. *sigh*
At least SSF4 got delayed. I guess I'm actually grateful about that.
I got my copy late yesterday. A word of advice, don't try reading the instruction manual when suffering from exhaustion or sleep deprevation. For a standard sized instruction manual, it comes across as little dense.
However, I'm still dying to play it today.

Ditto. I'm just going to have to pick up this, and a couple of other things, next paycheck.
I'm very much looking forward to April.
What's coming out in April? The only thing I've got on hold for then is Super Street Fighter IV.

For me it's three words: Monster Hunter Tri.
But back on topic, I'd like to hear more impressions. If it's as good as Flub said I'll most likely wait for it to drop (I have too much to play ATM)
Well I finally got around to playing Resonance of Fate. I just did a barebones run of the prologue and found it refreshing. Everything from the battle system to how you gain experience.
The tutorial is optional, so you can jump right into actual missions and face the game over screen numerous times.
When I selected Japanese audio with English subtitles, I noticed my subtitles disappeared during the final cutscenes of the prologue. Since I only did a speed run through the prologue, I'm going to try it again; fingers crossed I just goofed.

I have played up to chapter 10 at this point so I feel more comfortable posting some impressions.
The game is mission based and broken up into chapters. Basically you have a cutscene at the beginning of a chapter introducing the mission, you accomplish the objective and then there is a cutscene at the end of the chapter. Each chapter also has optional missions that you can do, optional fights with tougher enemies and boss battles with a variety of rewards as well as optional dungeons to tackle. There is also an arena and you can discover items by laying down hex pieces on the field map. As you can see there is a huge amount of optional content, and you can add a few hours on to each chapter if you try and finish it all.
The game has a save quit feature, so you don;t have to worry about making it to the next save point if you are short on time.
At its core combat is a lot like VP 2. On the battle map enemies only move when you do. You can see which member of your party enemies are targeting though and there is an indicator that will let you know when an enemy is charging up and when it will attack.
I am not going to lie, combat (especially the bosses) can be brutal. The battle system is kind of tough to explain. For a basic attack you charge your weapon and fire it at the enemy. If you use a hero point (there is a guage) you can set two points and run between them charging your weapon and firing at the enemy. You can attack from the ground or attack from the air. If certain requirements are met you can attack with all three of your characters. Hero points also protect you from taking direct damage, instead you will take scratch damage which heals over time. It should suffice to say that if you run out of hero points you are screwed.
Most attacks are line of sight, so taking cover to avoid enemy attacks is very important. Enemies often have different parts which have to be destroyed to attack the enemy directly or can get in the way of your attack if the enemies moves while you are attacking, The body parts also range from hard to soft and have elemental resistances and weakness, so it is important to have a wide range of ammo and grenades. While the combat system is kind of complex it is incredibly fun when it all comes together.
So far the story has been exceptional considering RoF is a tri-Ace game (obviously thanks to the VP team). The english VA is excellent and the game while serious has its hilarious moments.
The music is great.
Almost all of the cutscenes are rendered using the games engine rather than FMV. This is cool, because there is a wide selection of clothing (shirt, pants, shoes, accessories) for each character and the appearance carries over into the cutscenes.
I would definitely recommend RoF to anyone who likes rpg's, especially if they like a little challenge from their games.

I can vouch for the difficulty. Even early on, you can get destroyed if you don't fight correctly. That's because if you lose all of your bezels, points that allow you to use Hero actions and Tri-attacks, then you'll automatically go into Critical Condition regardless if you have full health or not. During Critical Condition, you will not be able to use your Hero actions and Tri-attacks, among other cripples. Basically, the game severely punishes you if you don't effectively use your Hero actions and Tri-attacks.

^ There are a couple different animations for each weapon and each person. The higher you charge your weapon the flashier they get.
So what did players purchase first; gun upgrades or fashion?
For me, I hit the fashion boutique as soon as the staff was ready.
On a side note, if you want to play with the Japanese seiyu make sure the subtitle option is "ON" before or during each playthrough. Sometimes, the subtitle option likes to reset to "OFF" before you start.

Gun parts for the most part. Later on you can add parts to the point where it is beyond ridiculous.
I didn't start buying clothes till later on in the game when there was a much broader selection and I had found a bunch of accessories out on the field map.
Does anyone know the maxium level for weapons mastery?
I'd like to dual-wield without having to remove all my gun parts.

As the story progresses the team gets split up a few more times. It is a good idea to have all three party members around the same level. They don't need to have the same levels in each weapon though.
In Chapter 8, the 3 Mad Goliaths are driving me insane. Using only Zephyr and Vasheryon seems impossible. I've tried using a decoy and even the terrain, maybe I should wait for Leanne to return.
