Bad News from Gamestop

I work at Gamestop and have been just as confused as the rest of you about them taking Steal Princess out of their system. So today I took initiative and e-mailed one of the higher-ups asking why it disappeared and if I could say anything to assure customers that they will be able to get their copy from Gamestop eventually. This was what I got back:


Gametop is not carrying the title at this time. Thank you for your e-mail.


I'm not sure exactly what this means, but it doesn't sound good. Anyone at Atlus have a better and more descriptive answer for us?

GS also removed the SKU for Mana Khemia a month before it came out.


protip: you probably shouldn't go around mentioning e-mails from within our intranet and corporate if it isn't an official press release. Unless you want to chance the possibility of getting reprimanded. If you have questions I would e-mail the kind people at Atlus themselves instead of posting something along the lines of this in the forum.

Why would they not carry it? As the largest video game retailer in the US, that kind of makes no sense. They cancelled reservations on 101 in 1 megamix, too.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the game apparently being pushed back? Amazon now lists a June 30th release date for this.

My local GameStop does not have the game in their computers anymore, and it's no longer listed on GameStop.com. This is definately a corporate move, why though, I'm not too sure. And yeah, Amazon has the release date listed as June 30th now, can an admin confirm if the game is in fact being pushed back?

Anyway, there's nothing to do at this point but sit back and wait, I'm sure everything will be cleared up shortly.

So is there any word on what stores will be carrying this release? I had a pre-order at GameStop a while back and that SKU vanished along with the $5 I put down for the pre-order. I'd complain but I misplaced the reciept for it, so bye-bye $5.

If it comes down to it, I guess I can just order of Amazon, I just don't trust my mail man or UPS out here after they keep leaving my roomates ordered camera equipment on other neighbor's doorsteps.

That is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

I know it's only $5 but the principle of the matter is: You need $5 more than Gamestop does. I wonder how many others lost their pre-order fee. That's a lot of $5 from a lot of people. Reciept or no, the fee should have showed up as a credit on their Gamestop account, even in the form of store credit.

Actually, I think I may have gotten that credit back. See, they gave me a card with credit placed on it when I did trade-ins for Dark Spire. Turns out that same GS didn't get copies of Dark Spire, so they gave me a Gamer's Edge card with credit on it so I could grab it at a GS that did get copies.

I knew it was a $34.99 game, but I still had a buck left over on the card after purchase. Only way that would have happened is if I had $40-ish credit on it. The trade-ins themselves covered the retail price, so maybe the Steal Princess credit was defaulted to my account because tax ended up being covered and I had $1.50 left over.

I do still have a bone to pick with the Gamestop at the mall for not giving me my P4 artbook, though >.>;

Yeah...if you're concerned about pre-order bonuses, don't even bother with gamestop unless you're ordering it from the website.

Well they got a memo specifically stating that there would be hell to pay if they gutted the bonuses out of Devil Summoner 2 this week. At least the stores in Winston-Salem, NC did. They all go "squee" when you mention an SMT game and apparently got complaints about previous SMT games with bonuses not being distributed with the games.

Plus it would be hard to gut Devil Summoner 2 without someone who preordered not knowing it, given the game is boxed this time.

I've never had a problem with preorder bonuses in my area, just problems with GameSuck getting the games weeks after the release date.

That would be so funny if that happened near here. Cruel, but funny. But I doubt my gamestop would do that; everyone there is too h@rdcore. Or at least, they love MegaTen.

I noticed it wasn't on Gamestop's page earlier today. This game looks good, and I usually pick up my Atlus games at GS as they're about the only ones that carry them around here. Guess I'll have to order it on Amazon. I keep trying to get my mom and pop shop to order more atlus games for when I visit.

I just ordered this from Amazon myself. I just found out about the game and was disappointed Gamestop decided not to carry it. Would of been nice to get my discount. At least Amazon has free shipping so it works out in the end.
