What all transfers over?

If I play and complete the first game, I know my guild name can be tranferred over, but do I get to keep the characters I built or do I have to start from scratch there? What are the other benefits?

Nothing transfers over with the password other than one item and you can still change your guild name even tho that also transfers over.

And the item depends if you just beat the first game or you completed the compendium. If you transfer a password from just a finished game, you get the item (medal I think) that gives you +1 to all stats plus a pittance of HP/MP. If you completed compendium, you get the crown I think, and you get an item that gives +2 to all stats plus a pittance of HP/MP.

You're supposed to also transfer some characters over to have them in a quest or something, but I'm only one boss away from doing everything in the game but I've yet to see any of my old characters show up.

Yeah, having a password is kind of a waste since I never used the item I transferred over.
