Did anyone else really enjoy this mini-game? Thought it would be a great DS game perhaps.

It was fun, but I've had enough of it.

A sequel as a minigame in another Atlus title would be acceptable.

Maybe I'm the only one who liked it so much. You could have different elevations and environments with special blocks and items. Maybe bad guys that ruin your block puzzling.

And you get to be Pyro Jack with alt characters Jack Frost, Black Frost and King Frost. Though maybe King frost wouldn't fit on such a small screen... >.>

As typical at first I had a lot of fun with that mini game but then it sort of went downhill as the puzzles got tougher and I got more frustrated and eventually I found a guide to help me through the latter parts. I'm having a similar problem with the peg game in Eternal Poison for a few of the puzzles and maybe someone will eventually make a guide for that one.

Oh well! I'm glad you loved it though and it probably would make a good DS game

If I remember correctly, there is a full version of this minigame. It's a GBA Devil Children title, though, and I've never been able to find it (I was gonna buy it for a roommate of mine who really enjoyed those puzzles... it was with his help that I got through!)

Kenji, that game is "Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children: Call By Puzzle."

It's being sold on ebay right now, under the name "Puzzle de Call" (the Japanese version of the title). Just type Puzzle de Call into ebay, and you should find it.

I see it listed for $35 now... That does seem expensive.

Thanks! :D

I'm considering getting it, since the opportunity doesn't pop up often. We'll see about that.

This puzzle format is based on a game called Sokoban (warehouse keeper) released in 1982 for the PC; it spawned a scientific interest in this form of puzzle and all sorts of mathematical algorithms were developed and implemented by computer programs to solve gigantic Sokoban puzzles. The puzzle format is particularly interesting because it would be useful to understand when developing the AI of robots designed to work in warehouse environments. To date there is no known automated algorithm capable of solving any Sokoban puzzle... (source = wikipedia "sokoban")

Anyhow, the point is there are a TON of games out for a myriad number of gaming platforms that are very similar to the Asakusa boy's puzzle minigame [though none with pyrojack as far as I know :frown:]. The wikipedia page detailing sokoban lists many, and I know I'll certainly be checking a few of them out since Puzzle de Call is only in Japanese.

Just beat this one. Played it for 4 hours straight. That was REALLY fun. Great way to break the monotony of battles!

I just wanted to get it over with to get the prize, so I printed out the guide and gleaned over it on the fly.

Besides, if I wanted to play a puzzle game, I'd pop Lumines Plus in the PS2 instead of Nocturne.
