View Full Version : Anyone Else Preorder This In Store?
Boy is the name fun to spout out at a cashier, haha. Can't wait to preorder the new Devil Summoner...
But yeah, I'm definitely ready for this to come out...

If I wanted this game, I'd probably have to say "The new Robot Taisen" or "Endless Frontier." Devil Survivor was awkward, though; I got a unusual worker who didn't know much about games (it was the same day I bought DJ Max Fever), and she's like: "Devil...Survivor?" When she got finished being confused with that, I pre-ordered Knights in the Nightmare and more confusion erupted. Good thing there aren't many workers like that.
EDIT: I also put more money on Devil Summoner and she got confused, so I had to say the whole name. I don't think that helped.

Preordering Shin Megami Tensei games in stores is a lot of fun. It's worth it just for the confused looks you get.
Doing SRTOG: Endless Frontier was fun, too.

I think I'll only bother preordering the games that come with a pre order bonus from now on, and just get the titles I want when they're released, since it's such a hassle. Plus, I kind of feel sorry for the people who are confused when I ask for obscure titles. Well, ok, I may pre order games that I really want, like Devil Survivor, regardless of whether they come with a pre order bonus, just to make sure that I will get a copy.

I usually pre-order for multiple reasons. If I am excited about it, it is a way to show my support, guarantee a "wrapped" copy, and to take advantage of any possible pre-order bonuses whether there are any or not. Plus finding out that you already have some money towards it, or you already paid it off is a nice pleasant surprise when you pick it up.
I am surprised more people do not pre-order. Especially when popular titles release and they expect there to be a bunch of copies... it's not always the case.

I went with preordering online with Amazon, though I would have probably preordered it in-store if there was one close by.

It took me till March 12 to pre order this bad boy. Everytime i asked about it the guy at gamestop laughed and said i must've meant the gba versions. Finally, i got to prove his ass wrong when it showed up in their computer.

That was odd. I went to pick up my copy at the store today and they didn't have it. The guy looked it up and said it was actually shipping today, which means it would be in tomorrow. I guess that makes sense since I never did receive my phonecall from GS yesterday.
Ah well, one more day won't kill me. :D

I hope my store gets it today. I will be there at 1 pm so that will be more than enough time for them to get their shipment for the day. Here is to hoping the shipment will contain this game. I was already mad they didn't get it on release date, but then again when do they ever

Why do people expect stores to get games on the day of their release? MAIL DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.

Some stores get games on their release date. I am pretty sure Pokemon Platinum was in stores on its release date. Granted, that is a much more popular title, but maybe that doesn't happen on a regular basis due to that whole mailing part.
But you are right, I really shouldn't have expected it. It was a long day and I really just wanted a new game even tho I still have a ton to play.

Why do people expect stores to get games on the day of their release? MAIL DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
Because when we pay them money in advance to pre-order something, and the cashier, as well as all the websites, specifically state that it will be released on a certain date, we expect to be able to go in on that date and get it. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to ship it out in time so all the stores get it at least a day before the release date, so all they have to do once the day arrives is set aside however many copies were pre-ordered, then put the rest out on the shelf.

I got lazy and did my preorder this way, I gave them the display case of the game and show it to the relaters; that way I didn't have to say out the game. The result of my last post ended in failure Gamestop didn't have it on the 28th and when I tried the day after they said it would be here later today. So because I am a patient man( and I spend the money I had for the game for "no more heroes" to hold me over) I decided to wait Friday when I get my paycheck.

I know it might be a little late for some people, but one of the employess at my local GS who knows i preordered this game there showed me an email saying that both Super Robots (as they shortened the title to) and Klonoa would not be in their stores until Friday May 1. He told me this happens sometimes because of distributors but still very frustrating in my opinion. Hope I was able to save some people a trip to their shops.

Pokemon Platnium is street dated, that is, the actual day the game was finished printing was almost a week before hand. The stores then were forced to hold the games in the back room until the day specified by Nintendo.
With normal games, the game gets printed, but in a box, put on a truck, and it's shipped form the warehouse on the release day. It takes the rest of the day and some of the next for the game to actually get to the stores.
So if you think about it, you're actually getting the game sooner, because the company doesn't need to hold the game in the backroom for X days.
Because when we pay them money in advance to pre-order something, and the cashier, as well as all the websites, specifically state that it will be released on a certain date, we expect to be able to go in on that date and get it. You pay them in advance so that there will be a copy ready for you when the game comes in. There really isn't anything that the store itself can do about the rate that things get shipped, especially when things have to be shipped en-masse, and generally through at least one checkpoint(IE: boxes that come into stores don't just contain Atlus or Konami games, they're sent to a larger processing center and re-boxed up and sent out to the stores that need them). If you live in VA and the game is being shipped from CA, there's not a whole lot you can do about the wait unless you know about some kind of teleportation device.
As I said, mail doesn't work that way.

Did you listen to me at all? They have no control over it. Unless you seriously think that the employees at Gamestop have some magical ability to make shipments always arrive on time, despite the fact that any number of things completely unrelated to the company might be holding it up.

Yeah Atlus and/or the GS employees are not at fault once the shipments leaves Atlus it is the people from UPS that are the ones that take care of the shipment. GS employees are just waiting for the shipment to arrive so you should be looking at UPS at this time

All good things come to those who wait. Think about it, once OG/OGG gets announces we would have to wait awhile for that too and I don't want super robots destroying the stores until the game has arrived.

I was thinking more Firefly than X-Men, with the whole sci-fi/western motif this game's got going on. Haken and Aschen remind me more of Mal and Zoe than anything else.

That or outlaw star where firefily was supposed to be based on, then I guess. It was just a first impression on Haken rather then the game itself.

Haken reminds me more of Spike Spiegel or Vash the Stampede personally, he's just the quintessential smartass rogue, who you'll associate most closely with the character or characters you're most familiar and fond of. Someone who's more of an X-Men fan will see him as being similar to Gambit. (Exploding cards, lady's man, etc.) Bebop fans he'll come across as Spike. (No respect from his team mates, kind of goofy, but when the chips are down he turns into the badass killing machine)

Alright, lets settle this right now.
Haken Browning
Gambit for X-man fans
Spike Spiegel for anime fans
Dante for videogame fans
My opinion on the one character and not on the whole game, the only other one I can say is Aschen Brodel is half Lamia, half Excellen and is KOS-MOS distant cousin.
