I know its still a ways out but any idea what the preorder item on this would be? Yah I know you might not have because its part of the flagship product but... I was kinda hoping... Ummm.. So...

Can't wait for the official website to get a better look hehehe

What would they make though? There's no part that really stands out to me except for the game it-self, unless they do a poster or something... if they do I hope they do based on this wallpaper:

They could always make an artbook with art assets from the game or selected Kaneko images or something :)

A soundtrack might be kind of a cliche, given Atlus' recent spoils, but I would love it if one were to be included with the game. It would be even better if it included the Japanese song from the trailer this time(LA2's soundtrack didn't). An artbook would be great too. Of course, I'm getting the game anyways when it comes out, and that's the main attraction. But if Atlus wants to spoil us(pun intended), I won't have any objections. Any extras are welcome, except free live scorpions, lol. That joke made my day.

I personally wouldn't mind an artbook, soundtrack, or even a poster. I actually take a lot of the game music I get and select songs for my MP3 player. A small figure would be cool but not as nice from a portable "I can't play my game so I have to be content with this" option. I know we may not get a thing but it would be a nice bonus for the game.

Who knows? Maybe they might do both. Like they did with Luminous Arc 2, P4 & Eternal Poison. Which's include an Artbook and a Soundtrack.

It would be nice to get bonus items with the game, but I already have it pre-ordered and won't be disappointed if I only get the game. Devil Survivor is only $30 and it's SMT, so they probably won't need to throw stuff at us to make it sell.

They did make an artbook for LA2. It was 60 pages, as opposed to 100 pages, but it was bigger in terms of size than the EP artbook. But I like your idea too. Maybe a mini sized boxset that looks kind of like the original P3, except that it would obviously be ds size, rather than ps2 size.

I never did get a P4 artbook because I came too late to pick up my preorder, but I guess life would be boring if I got absolutely everything that I wanted. Besides, my local eb games store through in a free Tomb Raider Underworld, and Dead Space artbook as well, when I went to pick up my other artbooks.

But P3's artbook is awesome. Short, simple, and certainly not as huge as a 100 page artbook, but it didn't need to be, and as far as I'm concerned, is every bit as epic as any other artbook in my collection.

And it looks good, in a nice box set, even if FES renders my copy of the actual game useless, aside from the fact that I can view the original intro, which I prefer. And it's more durable too, since it's a hardcover artbook. I've said enough on the subject, and it's just a thought, but the point is that I wouldn't mind that one bit. Great idea!

I agree 100%

As I am usually a sucker and pay for that stuff anyways, I am so thankful Atlus gives us these as true "bonuses" rather than nickel and diming us for all we're worth. I nearly checked everything on the list for extras I liked included because I like all that stuff and it seems Atlus has given most of it through one game or another. The costume went unchecked, however, because it confused me.

Hmm, I guess I'd be happy with a soundtrack, but I've already got that with a few of my other games, I'd like to get an artbook for once. Plus the character artist this time around seem quite talented, so that's a plus. Ooh, or what about stickers for the DS and/or perhaps a keychain? I'd like a Haru-figure too, ultimate geek-symbol. And a bookmark. And a cap like Atsuro's! ^^;

but what about the DSi? it is of different size too~ im liking the poster idea and art books are always awesome. i have the soundtracks to just about every atlus game, but i don't listen to them more then a few times, save for persona 3/4. so i'm voting for a more visual spoil ^__^

I 2nd that motion, seeing that CD + artbook combo would be in the infamous threshold of the Square Enix tax of US$39.99, realistically speaking; on the other hand, with just the CD pre-order bonus, it would help to stay the game to just US$29.99 on launch day, usually.

For the sake of being an @%^ I will say that I'm not predicting any bonus. I'm happy we're getting it and that it's clarified to be a true SMT game, not a release that happens to say "Shin Megami Tensei:" on the box (such as DDS, Persona, Devil Summoner on PS2). Though it would be cool if this was released as DSiWare...

Per YOUR definition, Devil Survivor is NOT a true Shin Megami Tensei title. Though it is a Shin Megami Tensei game, like Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga, and Persona, it is NOT a main series title. Devil Survivor is a strategy RPG, which is nothing like the main series. Sorry to disappoint you.

As for it being DSiWare, that would be pretty disappointing. While I agree that DSiWare needs SOMETHING worth spending the free 1000 points on, I'd hate to see Atlus take the cheap route of putting their games in the DSiShop.

Which translates as "something gaiden." Megami Ibunroku: Persona was a spin-off that took, and became its own branch of the series. I'm assuming they title each new spin-off with this until it becomes an entity of its own, as the Persona games have.

To be honest, and I know that I'm probably in the minority, I don't really mind if there isn't any kind of Spoils here. Don't get me wrong, it'd be great, but I don't need any extra incentive to pick this up. Atlus just doing what they do (AKA, releasing niche games and catering to their fans) is enough for me. I mean, look at the lineup from 2008. They released so many games last year, and so many that appealed to me, it was just the best thing ever. This year they're really managing that again... and it's not like we've seen all they're doing this year yet, is it? :3

Now, on the point of Devil Survivor being main series or not...? I don't care. Yeah, I was introduced to the series by Persona 3. (Just like I was introduced to my other favorite series, the "Tales of" games by Symphonia). Because I got into it where everyone else did, doesn't mean I'm just going to grab every game with "Shin Megami Tensei" in the title, even if it was added for the localized title. (Although, I do admit this to be true, I have actually gone back and retroactively gotten every single SMT game that was released in english, as well as a few non-SMT branded ones, like Persona 2: EP when it was 'reprinted'. I was waiting on Persona 1, and glad I did, the PSP remake will be cheaper and a better experience than the one that was originally released anyway. Cheaper for obvious reasons, a better experience because I don't like extra dungeons getting removed...) Overall, the games are tied together by a common tone or theme. I could say, "I collect these games because I love Jack Frost". I do love Jack Frost, but that's not the point, I suppose. :P The games have a sort of serious tone you don't find in a lot of games, yet also manage to be complex, yet also can have a lighter side at the same time. Characters you get attached to, and stories you can just really get into. I suppose it can be said "Results may vary"... but for me, the games that get branded as SMT in North America are great games that I wouldn't pass up on for any reason, regardless of SMT branding in Japan.

I'd like to see an artbook or soundtrack, especially if the music is as good as in the Persona games. Heck, I'd also like to see the hero's headphones as a preorder bonus. I would like the standard, a CD with the Soundtrack and a nice Artbook (48+ Pages). Of course I wouldn`t mind, if it get a plush figurine (like in Devil Summoner) or any other bonus thing, but Soundtrack and Artbook are cool and usefull. I really hope that there still comes anything, because there are so many games from Atlus which get such an extra and Devil Survivor looks like a such big title, that it deserves that Bonus too.

I still rather have an artbook over a soundtrack. I'll just play the game if I wanna listen to the music. I like the art style going on in this one too.

Or even better, do both a soundtrack and artbook. I mean Knights in the Nightmare is getting both, and if you ask me...this is a much bigger game (it has the SMT label) than Kitn.

Personally, since SMT games from Atlus are labeled (even if it wasn't in Japan) as the "Flagship series", they should get the best spoils imo.

They should do another Teddie Bear. This time with Yuzu instead of Raiho.

I know it's obviously too late for them to change or add preorder bonuses.

Still, it's fun to dream. I would have liked to have seen a small screen cleaner attachment (like the ones for cell phones) or a custom stylus that still inserts into the slot on the DS.

Yeah, it would be hard to add a pre-order bonus now, what with the June 23rd release date, unless they already placed an order for them to be produced (or already made them). Devil Survivor has a lot of potential for spoils, so it would be a shame if there wasn't anything... not that it's important; this is a MegaTen title after all! How about a japanese style (i.e. 200+ pages with commentary and interviews with the artists) English text artbook like the translated Okami book? The LA2 artbook was great, despite being a little short and a little low on artist commentary. I loved how they gave the girls' bra sizes, haha. Still I'm really glad I bought it in a combined set with the game and soundtrack off of ebay instead of as a stand alone product as I had originally planned. Here's hoping the Knights in the Nightmare book is a little more substantial. As for another Devil Survivor idea, why not a mini demon compendium? It would be great to have a little mythological reference beside Kaneko's brilliant illustration for each demon. They could rip it right from Heretic Mansion if they wanted; I'd just like to see it in (English language) book form. It'd be great if all the personae could be included in this, but then I guess it couldn't be a Devil Survivor bonus. Well it would still be awesome to see. Atlus, I'd shell out a good bit of scratch for a book like that...

Well, for me it's a moot point. I live in Quebec province, so due to language laws I have to preorder it, or order it online, otherwise it'll be damn hard to get.

I will also get it. Have it preordered on Amazon. But Spoils are always nice. Especially artbooks. The KitN artbook is so dang pretty.

I wasn't worried about spoils myself, got what i wanted when i preordered it, the only thing that they could of added was the soundtrack, but heck i can import it if it's good enough.

Actually, Devil Survivor will have bilingual packaging, so people in Canada should have no problems getting their hands on it. (I just saw a printer's proof of the ginormous manual today.)

The LA2 artbook was great, despite being a little short and a little low on artist commentary. I loved how they gave the girls' bra sizes, haha.

They did?! Wow...

I like artbook. For some reason, I feel that I already said that. Aw well.

The artist for this game is pretty interesting... The characters look really sharp and cute at the same time.

Well, it's looking like we aren't getting anything. Bummer, was hoping for a soundtrack/artbook. I mean, Knights in the Nightmare, not even developed by Atlus, got both :p

The mean, language police finally noticed Atlus. I'll miss the English only packaging and instruction manuals.
Don't get me wrong, the French manual is good for practicing reading skills.
However, the bilingual packaging often forces publishers to use something like size-0.5 font and the entire layout seems compressed compared to the U.S. version...
Please prove me wrong, Atlus!

Oh, we don't try to fit both languages on a page. The (still full color) manual is simply twice as long as a normal manual to accomodate a French version of it after the English.

So looks like we are not getting anything with Devil Survivor ;_;
How sad...

That aside, Inzaghi just hit Jack Pot! :D

I guess they can still surprise us, but I pre-ordered it anyway.

As for dual-language manuals, I once bought a game that came packed with a completely separate manual in French, in the US. Additionally, there's a lot of English in the PSP Devil Summoner manual, and a lot of info that looks pretty useful in Japanese.

I remember buying Disgaea DS and thinking that I must have bought the Spanish version or something, because that's what language the manual was in. Then I peeled back the Health and Safety packet. xD

Alright, let me get this straight, no spoils for Devil Survivor? Correct? Anyway it won't stop me from getting this eventually when I get a DS.
