ATLUS SPOILS KNIGHTS IN THE NIGHTMARE™ FOR NINTENDO DS™, SOUNDTRACK WITH EVERY LAUNCH COPY, PRE-ORDER BONUS ART BOOK AT PARTICIPATING RETAILERS
It's starting to look like anything but a nightmare

http://www.atlus.com/res/knightsinthenightmare_glamshot_600.jpg

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- MARCH 3, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A. today announced that the manager of its Atlus Spoils problem, Charlie the chimpanzee, has gotten out of control. For Knights in the Nightmare™ on Nintendo DS™, the simian has packaged not only a soundtrack CD within each and every premium boxed launch copy, but also decided to include a 7"x10" full color pre-order bonus art book as well (at participating retailers).

"In hindsight, hiring a non-human for this position may have been a mistake," said Aram Jabbari, manager of PR and Sales at Atlus. "We appreciate his zeal for the work, and he certainly livens up company parties, but to offer not only a soundtrack CD in a premium package, but a pre-order bonus art book also? He's taking this Atlus Spoils thing too far. We'd get rid of him, but he has consistently threatened us with lawsuits and handfuls of excrement, making it an uncomfortable prospect."

Certain to be one of the most innovative titles of 2009, Knights in the Nightmare is a wholly unique experience. Frantic, energetic action mixes with thought-provoking tactical gameplay, all within a beautifully-rendered fantasy setting and presented through a captivating, emotional narrative.

Knights in the Nightmare is scheduled for release on June 2, 2009 with an MSRP of $34.99.

###

About Knights in the Nightmare
Somewhere between heaven and the underworld -- in the center of a quiet lake -- stood an ancient castle known as Aventheim. One night, without warning, denizens of the netherworld emerged and slaughtered the kingdom; nary a soul was left alive.

Within an abandoned, long-forgotten church deep in the woods, a wisp is set free. Bereft of memory, it is drawn toward the monster-infested castle and re-awakens the souls of the vanquished knights, leading them back towards the fallen stronghold to confront the very forces of evil that took their lives.

Key Features
An experience unlike any before it -- Incorporating strategy RPG, real-time strategy, and shooter elements, you've never experienced a game like this. Control a Wisp with your stylus and activate the souls of deceased knights to aid you in destroying foes on the map. Enemies fire bullets in multiple directions, making it vital for players to master the unique touch controls.
Over 100 playable characters -- Find and recruit the ghosts of seven different classes of knights from your kingdom, and learn of their pasts, hopes, dreams, and untimely deaths. Sacrifice their souls to one another to balance their skills and create your ultimate party.
A tale from two perspectives -- This twice-told legend entangles you in a dark and brooding tale that is simultaneously examined through events both past and present. Complete the adventure to unlock the ability to play through the game with a new narrative twist, placing the antagonist in the starring role.

Knights in the Nightmare has been rated "T" for Teen with Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, and Suggestive Themes by the ESRB.

Very nice Atlus. I was going to be getting it anyway, but the artbook is a nice touch all the same.

Also, Charlie the chimp is Onion of Mystery's real name CONFIRMED? :p

Oooh, excellent! I love artbooks.

I just wonder who these "participating retailers" are. I'd love it if it Amazon.ca were included, but after the fiasco with Poison Pink and Luminous Arc 2, I'm not so sure. (I never did see the artbook for either of those, despite preordering when they were first listed on Amazon.ca. (RAGE.))

I do hope that amazon.ca is a participating retailer though

Please be aware that retailers are still updating their product pages with information regarding this promotion. Please allow one to two days for updates to occur before making any decisions regarding pre-orders. Any pre-orders at participating retailers prior to this announcement are valid and included.

More free stuff for me. I'm just glad almost everything offered as a free gift comes in the form of soundtracks or art books, as the fluid in my Trauma Center pen has evaporated.

I've always liked the art style of this series, so the art book will be a nice addition.

Heheh, no actually I was just thinking of what Chie and Yosuke were arguing about when he insisted on treating the main character out to grilled steak for helping him out of the trash can. It really doesn't relate to this, but I was thinking of it as I typed my response. Disregard it.

And yes, in a sense you will be a great person if you made that sacrifice for somebody crying about being cutoff by one unit from being able to preorder with Spoils.

Would I get the extras if I pre-order it in EBgames canada?

As much as I would like to get it from Amazon.ca, I cannot do that, since I'm only allowed to purchase games locally. That's why I had to pay 50 bucks for Luminous arc 2, only to find out that if I had pre-ordered it, I would've gotten an art book along with it.....

So, if it's also available for preorder at EBgames with the artbooks and stuff, then I'll be pre-ordering tomorrow.....

I preordered Luminous Arc 2 with Amazon.ca and received my artbook. I had to wait a few weeks after the release date, but I didn't mind.

I ended up waiting until mid-January. Several emails exchanged and EVERY RESPONSE THEY GAVE was "we'll look into it loololol" except the last one, which just pissed me off like no other: they finally sent an email detailing how to return the product if I was dissatisfied with it-- except they'd never even shipped the game to me to begin with!

So I just snapped it up on Amazon.com, when it was on sale for like $25... and lucky me, I got the preorder artbook.

WTG, AMAZON /sobs

okay, i'm done raging now 8(

I'll preorder this once Amazon.ca updates with the guarantee of an artbook. Otherwise, I'll just wait it out; I already have the JP version, so it's not imperative that I buy it immediately.

that's a really generous preorder bonus! i'll definitely be ordering my copy pretty soon, but i just saw this picutre: http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/knightsinthenightmare_artbooksample_knights.jpg and i'm wondering why the names are so different from the jap ones? like gudrun...her name was kriemhilt (my german friend insists it's kriemhild, like in the nibelungensage) before....

Good eye.
Gudrun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gudrun) is an alternate name for Kriemhild. Unfortunately, the original name was simply too long to keep within our variable limitations. With some other characters we were able to "creatively misspell" the name so that the same overall pronunciation/style was there, but it couldn't be done with her. So, we went with another, shorter name that kept the reference.

thanks!

so from what i can see of the names, it looks like you only have a 7-character limit for playable characters, and an 8-character limit for names over dialogue boxes, right?

I think you've got the wrong idea of what the Atlus Spoils program is!

Nope. Play the game when it comes out!I was just going to buy it (for support) and leave it sitting around, like with Yggdra Union. I think I didn't get past BF17 yet.

Besides I tried that cheat for "Revellion". The translation was "Angelic Thunder", so I never found out what the heck "Revellion" meant.

I think you've got the wrong idea of what the Atlus Spoils program is!It was worth a shot.

Ooh, I gotta question! What will be the name of the Dept. Heaven Series be here in America, the same? If so, what the hell does "Dept." stand for? :D

OK two questions. First, is this avaible to non USA or Canada residents? Second I read in wikipedia about "Knights in the Nightmare DHE Series Special Pack", and I would love to see because here Yggdra Union never came out, but are we getting it or is it japan only?

That Artbook and Audio CD were simply amazing... Almost feels like I underpaid for the game.

I felt like $30.99 was the perfect price.
