Hi, I'm new here.
I didn't realize how cool Atlus was until after I played Disgaea on PS2 when it first came out for 2 hours then never played it again because it didn't capture me like the brilliance of Final Fantasy Tactics. I lent the game to a high school classmate who has yet to return it and whom I've never spoken to since. Next, I play the hell through Digital Devil Saga, zoom through the second game one minute after completing the first, and stopped playing with 25 hours clocked. But before I ever started the DDS series, I bought SMT: Nocturne along with Shadow Hearts: Covenant and a forgettable game @ an infamous TRU 'Buy 2 get 1 Free' promotion, and the game never clicked with me for a few hours. It was not until I finished DDS1 that I realized how fun the battle system was, with the extra turns, elements, inspired spell names, and realized that Nocturne was very similar, got addicted and also halted my playthrough like many other backlogged RPGs after 20 hours or so. Eventually, Persona 3 caught my eye very early in development in screenshots; the unusual use of colors for the menus and battle system as well as the somewhat unique art style (by Shigenori Soejima & Masayuki Doi) that solidified my intrigue was enough for me to ignore every press release and just buy the game as soon as it came out. I knew nothing about the game, but it was as insanely refreshing as the day I rented Grand Theft Auto III, so I played for almost 10 hours the day I bought it. Fast forward to the end of the game, as I was as happy as ever about the time I spent on it, and anticipated any game that would continue the story or the series because it was that great! It wasn't until then that I looked up Atlus, and their website, and holy $%^* what is Persona 3: FES?!?!
Yes, I am vague, and an Atlus infant, but I've always been an RPG fan more than any other genre since Dragon Warrior III, and Persona 3 got me ridiculously excited about RPGs all over again. Persona 4 is just :surprise:, and I look forward to the future.
