How crazy would I be if I said I would love to see post counts done away with?

Not very crazy, even if I do say so myself.

Yeah, post count is pretty pointless.
I mean, probably about half my post count is from Word Association....

Post counts are meaningless. It's all about what you write, not how often you write it. So if you know you're stupid and have nothing interesting/funny/useful/etc. to say then please, please, PLEASE don't post frequently.
I like post counts, they tell you how often people write!
They also give an interesting average statistic in the sig page!

Why do you think my post count is so damn low?

Post counts tell me a number of things in relation to when they joined.
1.How often they post
2.How attatched they are to the boards
The individual posts themselves tell me more about their posting styles though. Are they simply +1 posts? Do they reflect upon the intelegence of the poster? Do they show the disposition of the poster twords their fellow board members or the topic at hand? Often times I find those with high post counts who have been members the least amount of time have the least to add to the comunity on a board. While the count and date of joining doesnt always show a connection to the quality of the member, it can help determine which member is more likely to be someone I'd give a damn about or if they were someone I'd just ignore.
End of rambling, carry on.

The time when a member joined is pointless as any sort of gauge, because a lot of us, like me, have been here for years, but we've been blessed with a billion new boards and have had to re-register a bajillion times.
My reason for wanting post counts done away with doesn't really matter as much anymore, so I'm not really set on this or anything...I was more curious on people's thoughts.

I think we just need a Rep system. or maybe something having to do with Atlus

A reputation system would be bad. I'm of the highest moral standing (I'm practically Jesus ) and I'd still misuse it and bad rep people I hate....not that there are many of you

And how, pray tell, do they do that? My post count is relatively high. Does that make me a douche bag? What about a post count in the 500's? Where's the douche bag cut off????
Please, I'm begging you to enlighten us. The world NEEDS this incredible insight only you seem to possess.

If this board had a reputation system, I would rate down everybody who's not Olethros, for the reason that they are not Olethros.

It's a complicated system involving start date, post count, post quality, and a sense of humor.

I could go for that. But then again, I prefer rebels, and Olethros is a little too much like Olethros for my liking, so I'd probably have to rate him down.

Wow, such wit from the lodoss fan! I'm going to go cry until my douchebag of a body is filled up with tears and then use it on your mom.

I made a joke that most people don't appreciate. Slayn's post was directly insulting/flaming several forum members. I posted intentional irony in response.
I thought all the piss and vinegar was gone from this place after some people got banned a while back, but this place is still hostile and the long-time members are still the only ones allowed to retaliate.
Flip a coin, click the big red X, or get over it. Last time I tried using this forum the whole thing crashed shortly after I signed up and my account was lost. If this gets me banned, then I guess fate doesn't want me here.

Dude! Or...hmm...women need an apropriate generalized term....
Well, on to the point, perhaps you could take your advice and learn to look past the off shot comments of others and take everything as a joke. As this is the internet (I'm not trying to insult, just stating the obvious) you have the comfert in taking what you want from it and leaving behind what you dont. If any of the regulars bother you enough, you can simply place them on ignore. If not, you only have your self to blame for getting all bothered over it. Frankly, I dont know if there is even a type that's wanted here. I think everyone is welcome to join the forum but not every one welcomes who's joined the forums. That said, I couldnt give a rats...a care what people think. You should try it as well. Apathy works wonders if you give it a chance.

Dude, calm down. You have to admit your initial comment in this thread wasn't exactly friendly. Yeah, maybe it was meant as a joke, but so are some other people's comments. You can't cherry pick and claim person A is a prick because they made a joke that you took offense to on one hand and then make a remark that could be offensive to others on the other hand. Take everything with a grain of salt.
Unless I missed something, I have no idea what comments of Slayn's you are referring too.
Anyway, maybe I am jumping the gun, but thread locked.
