Whazzup? I'll cut to the chase, I've been gaming since I was four, but I was sadly born pretty late into the golden years of gaming (1992, man I missed the best years. I'm a big SNES fan), but I had a neighbor friend who's big bro (like 10 years older than us) was a MAJOR gamer and had like every system (which helps me balance out my gaming now, as I play all the systems, even the ridiculously unknown ones). So even though I was born late my first game was Donkey Kong on the NES and I was addicted from then on. I'm a hardcore gamer who thinks gaming is an art form in its true form and I study for a career in that field daily for about 2 years now and many more years to come.

That being said I was born a nerd anyway since I picked a love for comic books and when I finally got introduced to manga and anime I was converted into an Otaku very quickly. This was probably due to the dead period Comic books were having and Anime was just exploding in America, but thankfully comic books are coming back so I read them a lot too.

And being raised in the ghettos of Cali may suck like  and being a hardcore gamer and otaku at the same time is really tough on my already light wallet (not to mention how it pisses the hell outta my parents), but thanks to the ghettos I've actually managed to see a lot of culture mixed together in true American form.

Whoa, I rambled, well I do that a lot actually. I'm a very opinionated person so whenever it comes to something I love, I'm always talking about it...a lot. Seriously on my other forums (the only one I've been in till now with this one) I'm like in the 8000s now (after 3 years). Though finding forums with good communities is hard since I tend to only find kids my age or younger whom call themselves hardcore gamers but haven't really played anything above Halo. And I'm not one to have the FFVI get bagged since it doesn't have L33t cinematics so I always got death threats and crap. Though it seems that I've finally found another forum to talk in 'cause yesterday (if you didn't notice) I finally braved to join Atlus' forums and it has turned out to be pretty cool. Thanks for great community guys and I hope the best for Atlus, one of my favorite, "By the Gamers, for the Gamers, and of the Gamers", publishers ever! d(^-^)b

BTW even though I'm called TheLD by my friends, my buds usually shorten it to just LD

TheLD? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell...that's a long, long story to tell the truth.

To cut it really short whenever I played any Mario game with my neighbor I always had to be Luigi, so I took a huge liking for him. So then in middle school people joking referred to me as The Luigi Dude (since the Otaku freak/video game druggy and more offensive names never really stuck, yeah I wasn't really liked in that school mainly due to my race). But that one actually stuck on due to my friends as well, but then I kinda got over my Luigi fandom craze so it was kinda losing momentium. Then at my high school I made a lot of good friends but one rule was always to have a nickname (sounds lame/nerdy, but its actually cool) and then my best friend thought of TheLD. That stuck and has stuck for years.

There's more story, but like I said, its a long (and funny) story. BTW its pronounced like, "Thee-El-Dee" so it ryhmes. My friends have made this nerdy as heck rap for it, lol.

Sorry if I ramble a lot, just tell me if I'm talking too much or something and I'll regain my senses. BTW I'm in to all kinds of mangas and animes, probably my only bias are love stories...ugh...they've just become so cliche I want to tear my eyes out when reading/watching them! Though there have been exceptions to this (as always).

And no, I haven't watched Baccano, but I saw that you reccomended it in the anime reccomendation topic. Sorry if I'm slow but I don't really have a lot of cash and my money usually goes as such:
Games>Food>Manga/Graphic novels>Anime *they cost so much!*

Welcome to the forum. I too was raised in the hardcore ghettos of California. I was actually born in West Philadelphia, but I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and she said you're moving with your aunte and uncle in bel-air.

I actually lived in Virginia originally and man, that was a nice a peaceful place (of what I remember of it). Talk about a change of scenery!

I don't really blame your mother, its not the best place to raise your kids. I especially feel bad for my little bro as he's much too soft so I'm always looking out for him.

What really sucks is when you're out of the ghettos everyone thinks your a punk and treats you like one, but I'm like, "Its self defense, I'm actually a nice guy at heart!" But then again my get-up doesn't help, though if I ran around with a fruits basket shirt on, I'd get shot on the spot. XD
