Hey,
I was wondering if you guys have played this one. The DS remix isn't an Atlus product per say (although Atlus USA and Aksys Games have worked together in the past), but I thought I'd post this anyway. The title came out in mid-2007, but it wasn't until a couple months ago that I 1st read about it. I'm now thinking about getting it, but I'd rather hear what you guys have to say about it b4 I take the plunge:) Most reviewers have called it one of the most difficult games EVER on any platform not just the DS. I like SRPGs, but I'm not that hardcore:frown: Anyway, do you think this is something I could enjoy?
PS: I sure do love the artwork:tongue:

It's not -that- hard. Enemies scale with your highest level character, so you can never out-level enemies, but as long as you remember that Melee units are completely useless and that Magic dominates everything all game long, you shouldn't have many problems.
In the end, it's like most other SRPG's, but instead of grinding for EXP you're grinding for coin seals.
It is a pretty good game though, at least I think so.
And imho, the PS1 Atlus-published version is better because it has Romleth instead of the really lame new girl character. Romleth may have less story, but he fits his role as the Sonova rep better than the new girl.

I have this, and it is one of my favourite RPGs and definitely one of the best DS games. I loved it, and it's a lot of fun. Training your own recruits is pretty awesome. The only complaint that I have is that you cannot create your own mercenaries; they are premade with names and all. :|
I'd definitely get it if I were you though.

Thanks you guys! I usually take my time leveling up my mêlée combatants while not really bothering with the magic wielders. Guess I'm going to have to do things the other way around with this one:)

The PS1 version loved to throw impossible situations at you, like having archers on the highest tier of a mountain stage, where they have instant shots at all your party.
Also, it's perma-death.

One of the top-tier Healing spells can revive, but it has a very high cost and recharges slowly. It also only works in the battle that the character actually fell in, so if you finish the map and you haven't revived them they're dead for good. In the DS version you start with it on every difficulty except Hard.
i remember this game... the first time i saw this game on the ps1 i fell in love with it. but as soon as i got the game and played it, it was crap. i try to love it (cuz i love the anime style) but it was hard. the gameplay sucks.

This game was about as hard as aiming to pee. Atleast the DS version was. The PS1 version was a total pain in the arse. Power grind your magic users and abandon most of your mele charcters at the end. Actualy, there was a hard aspect about the DS game. I could never get the "good" ending no matter how I tried so I eventualy gave up.
