Hey, I just joined today. I've been gaming for as long as I can remember, playing NES and sega when I was a little kid. Countless hours spent playing Streets of Rage, Sonic, and Batman Returns. Playing all those games with music composed by Yuzo Koshiro probably influenced my love of music and desire to become a video game composer. Right now I am majoring in Music Composition and should probably be doing my assignment right now but 12 tone rows are so uninspiring! Ahem...anyway. I like manga, anime, video games, music, weight lifting, cooking (Mainly Japanese food since I eat it everyday and it fits into my weight lifting diet), and reading (non manga stuff.)
In terms of music I really like Metal. Particularly Progressive and Viking Metal (Bathory!!!).
See you guys around the forum.

Considering that Yuzo Koshiro is one of my favorite composers, I can certainly relate. Enjoy your stay.

I like it a lot. My style improved dramatically in just one semester. Where I go to school you have to have music writing software for the class (Sibelius or Finale). They can be quite expensive (I got Sibelius 5 professional which was 5 or 6 hundred dollars and combined with my $2,000 macbook I was broke )
The school also had a computer lab with Finale on all of the computers though.
The course basically required you to imitate historical styles and analyze pieces in class and write your own each week. Sometimes they specify instrumentation (everyone had to be able to play an instrument before they could get in the class) but most of the time it was whatever you want. The final was whatever you wanted to write (style and instrumentation) so I did something for an anime I had been watching at the time. It had to be performed at the final concert and since I don't play piano well I got someone else to play it but they didn't get a chance to learn it and got their friend at the last minute (the night before the concert) to learn the piece. Luckily the new guy played it perfectly so everything turned out right. I have a copy of the song on my itunes now so I can let people hear it.
But yeah, bigassofftopicparagraph aside...it was fun.
