- 4 elemental series @ gamefaqs for dungeon crawling (Lilim, Loki etc.)
- custom built boss personae (in Fes, Ghoul w/ Rage Boost + Provoke + Agilao + 2 Attack Mirrors is excellent for Interpid Knight)
- maybe a couple of null light/dark personae..

I alwais had Orpheus, Thanatos, Alice, and the rest was iffy depending on what the situation was I changed it up a lot.
I beat The Journey yesterday, and I had...I think...
Fortuna, Oberon, Suzaku, Barong, Byakku, Kali, and Chernobog.

I had Titania, Surt, Byakko, and Khoryu. (On my first playthrough)
Uh, I tend to use various lineups depending on my level...

Because I had the persona database available at FES start from regular P3, I just ran with Harati on my first playthrough as soon as I could afford her.
A significantly overly-high-stat Loki. That was all I needed...

What personas would you recommend to use at the beginning of the game? I am in May currently and recently finished the fight on the Train during the first full moon. I'm also level 11 by the way and money isn't a considerable issue since I have $147,000.

Beginning of the game? Anything goes. There isn't an all purpose Persona you'd want with you for every battle that early in the game. My advice for you is not to waste too much time with persona fusion unless it's for requests. Not until August-ish at least. Most of the bosses near the start can be defeated with any regular persona. If a boss has a weakness to fire, any regular fire persona will do, and so on.
This would be a totally different matter if you were playing on hard (which I hope you aren't on your first time through!). When you start hitting mid to mid-late game,THEN you should start worrying about fusing specific personae.

Thank you very much for the advice. Currently, I just swap personas if need be to exploit weaknesses. It works fairly well, so like you said, I'll worry about fusing personae later. I mostly fuse for social links anyways. The Empress guardian is kicking my ass right now though.

Lucifer, with spell master and victory cry, and Satan are the only two that I need. Though my memory says the two personas were messiah and Beelzebub.

Well, I meant for the point I'm at currently. I know surt and other personae cost a ton. Oh yeah, anybody have any recommendations for beating the Empress guardian on floor 36?

That's the wind boss that poisons you to hell, right?
Have a lot of dis-poisons. Equip a wind persona that heals. Set Yukari on heal. Your other two should attack however they want. Play it safe. Keep everyone above 75%, and use a dis-poison whenever needed.
The battles in this game are only hard if you take risks. Play it safe and slow, and you'll be fine.

Yup, that's the one. I picked up a Lilim, so I should be good. Junpei and Akihiko get demolished by the wind attacks, but I'll heal as much as possible. Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to take it.
Edit: So, your strategy worked and I demolished the boss! Thanks again!

I decided to go and cover all my elemental bases for any given situation. I have Surt for Fire, Norn for Wind, Skadi Ice, Odin Elec, Daisoujou for Light, Helel for Almight (not really an element though), Satan for Dark, and Susano-o for escaping, but why would I need to do that when I can use Armageddon every battle! I have victory cry, unshaken will, and spell master on my Helel, so it's all good! Even though it took me about 8-9 hours of fusing personae in order to fuse other personae in order to fuse other personae to get my desired product, I'd say it was well worth it. My compendium virtually doubled, so I'm glad about that.
