Yeah it sounds interesting on the timing part, but like they said it appears the developer knows that this is something repetitive (aren't all RPGs technically repetitive?) and has something to make sure it doesnt get boring quick or something.

The only thing that seems to be using this system is this game and NXC. But meh, who cares if it's "repeatative" at least japanese gamers found it really fun.
And that FFXIII seems to use a faster version of a turnbased system.

When I started playing Super Robot Taisen OG Saga -- Endless Frontier, it was in the expectation that I'd be writing the review for a year-old game which had few prospects of coming to America. Well, surprise, surprise -- it was announced for overseas release, and that changes everything. So, it's time to discuss just what we have to look forward to in this title. I hope you all enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the Endless Frontier, a group of incredibly diverse worldlets connected here and there by the Crossgates. Each realm has its own distinct races, idioms, monsters, and even special consumable items that match the area's theme. As the grand tour commences, the player is introduced to the post-apocalyptic world of Lost Elencia, where the names are German and the speech patterns Cowboy. The scenery shifts relentlessly to an idealized oriental kingdom, to a fairytale world slowly succumbing to desert, to a massive world-forest, to an endless ocean, and to a realm of dark magics. If there's one thing that's not lacking, it's background color.
What is lacking, at least towards the beginning, is the number of giant robots. Considering this is technically a Super Robot Wars title, that's probably the last thing one would have expected, but the eponymous war machines take their own sweet time appearing on the scene. This is more than made up for by this game's other major attraction -- cleavage.
Okay, let me get this out of my system now: BOOBS. BOOBS, BOOBS, BOOBS, BOOBS, BOOBS. With a game as openly fanservice-y as this, and a majority female cast, there's a whole lot to see. And if the translators manage only half of the bad boob jokes contained in the Japanese version, there shall still be much groaning and shaking of heads to be had.
Graphically, the game comes in two distinct sections: battles and everything else. Outside of battle, Endless Frontier is not the most graphically inspiring of games. In fact, I may have seen better on the SNES. The towns, while huge on the worldmap, are just points to visit -- there's no exploration to be had therein. Dungeons are fairly straightforward as well, though many are obviously set up to be revisited later in the game. It's not a secret that most of the development team's time and manpower was spent on the battle system.
But what battles to be had! Beginning as simple random encounters, the battles in Endless Frontier sound simple enough. When a character's turn comes up, they can do a few different things:
1) They can use a healing/support skill (as much as they want, within the limits of their SP or the effects of the skill), after which they can attack.
2) They can use an item, which depending on the power of the item, can reduce their COM% for that turn -- i.e. they get fewer attacks when they choose to do so.
3) They can choose to use a hit-all technique, which ends their turn.
4) They can attack (even after using support skills or items) as long as they have enough COM% to do so. The max % is 100, while the minimum necessary for an attack is 10%. A character can have five attacks set, and the player can set the order they activate in advance.
The ability to heal or cure ailments pretty much every turn, and still attack at almost full power, would break most games. When even normal enemies can survive five digits' worth of damage, the way they can in this game, quick and easy healing becomes necessary for survival. All in all, while I wouldn't call this game difficult, neither is it a walk in the park.
The high point of battles is seeing how long you can juggle enemies in the air. My current record with Suzuka, including two support attacks from back-row party members and a finishing move, is 179 consecutive hits without the enemy touching the ground. I'm pretty sure I can do better than that, if I can get my timing just right. As for total damage, my record is 47,754 damage in one attack sequence. This did not kill the boss in question, but it did put a noticeable dent in her HP bar.
Endless Frontier has so far been much more interesting than I'd originally expected. The battle system, while very simplistic, takes practice and attention to master properly. The members of the cast aren't the most well-rounded characters I've ever seen (at least in terms of personality), but they work well together. The story itself gets more and more convoluted as it progresses, with at least six factions that need to be dealt with one way or the other, but after 20 hours, I'm still not sure where it's all going. I'm eager to find out, though.
Finally, special mention should be made of the extra attention the programmers put into making sure each female character jiggles appropriately during her special attack animations. It is, after all, the little things that can add the most to the gaming experience... or in this case, the big things.

Judging by the impressions, it's pretty much what I was expecting: the focus is more or less on battles and boobs. :devil: Which more or less means it'll be a fun romp through the park but nothing much more serious than that.

You know what I like about Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier? I like that it makes no apologies at all about what it is or what it does. None at all.
Hell, look at the title. Could it be shorter? Sure. But it's not going to change for you. The game itself, despite being on the DS, does nothing with the touchscreen or any other features except the good ol' buttons. And 3D visuals? Nope. Why be bothered with that when 2D is easier and has worked forever. Even the in-game characters are crass and nonsensical, and they don't care what you think.
See? No apologies. But we like it anyway. Read on to see what we dig about Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier in our preview.
Juggies and Juggles.
That's how I'd describe Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier in two words: juggies and juggles.
Juggies:
If there was ever a game that you could charge with sexual harassment, it would be this title. You might expect that from Japan, but maybe not in a DS sci-fi fantasy RPG. But it's in there. The game starts off by following a futuristic, perverted cowboy named Haken Browning and his well-endowed robo-babe Aschen Brodel. I think it takes about one minute before the first breast joke breaks the ice. Hell, Aschen's power potential isn't even fully unlocked until the top half of her chest is fully exposed. Tasteless? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely.
It doesn't stop there. This RPG has as many innuendos as your typical RPG does low-level slimes. And the perverted talk comes easy to Haken as just about everyone he meets has ridiculous boobs. There's more busty party members to come as well as busty enemies, busty bosses...hell, even busty shopkeepers. Of course, Haken does not hesitate to try to put the moves on each and every one of the members of the female cast in between decisive battles and travel destinations. I can only image that the localization team at Atlus had a field day with this one. A tip of the cowboy hat to the team there.
Let's just say this: I'm only about 5 hours in this game, but as a red-blooded male gamer in his prime, I've laughed my ass off dozens of times already. But, as Haken says in the game, it's "not all fun and dames."
Juggles:
I'll be honest: after seeing the flat 2D map screens in the beginning, I wasn't expecting much innovation from this role-playing game. I was already thinking that funny dialogue wasn't going to carry this game. I quickly learned that this isn't just some mindless turn-based affair, though. The battles are insane. And so much fun.
The goal here is to juggle your enemies, just like you would in a fighting game. Each character has a COM meter. With this meter at 100%, you can pull off all the "skills" you've dropped into a preset list by pressing the A button. Mash it five times and you'll execute the five skills placed on your list. Press it twice and you'll do two. You unlock more skills as the game progresses, and you're free to use any of them at any time.
The real fun comes in how these moves are executed. Once the button is pressed, your enemy is launched into the air and hit repeatedly. Should you hit the A button again with the exact required timing, the first skill is "cancelled out" and a second one is started, chaining the attacks together. You can actually go through all of your skills, and then send another party member in to continue the chain. The goal here is to chain as many hits as possible (and take off as much damage as possible) with good button press timings. Right now I have four characters in my party, and I've chained all of them in a row successfully for 127 consecutive hits and 33,940 points of damage. And I laughed maniacally through the whole chain execution.
On top of all of this battle insanity is a super meter that fills up as you land hits and keep your opponents juggled. Once full, you can trigger an over-the-top super move for each character that is so crazy that you'll just have to laugh at it. What's great is that it can be thrown into the above mentioned chains, letting you inflict serious damage. The charm of these attack lies in the fantastic presentation. You'll get full-blown animated sequences playing over the damage that is going on in the background. There's close-ups of boobs bouncing, thousands of bullets flying, and beams of anime light shining everywhere. Serious gaming sensory overload here.
The rest:
Aside from juggies and juggles, is the rest of the game good? I think so. So far the game seems pretty linear, though there's a cool sci-fi twist to it all. And I think I saw some Gnosis from the Xenosaga series as enemies!
It's still too early to judge, though, so look for our review next month for the full details. But so far? We're really digging Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.

When I first looked at the few pics and trailers, I really thought that this was some kind of ecchi game. The gameplay looks great and, of course, if it's anything regarding Super Robot Wars then it's a must have. And besides, Kos-Mos is there ;)

Well in comparison to the Queen's Blade game that is being suggested http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3361 this game is pretty tame. I agree on kos-mos being in it is good but also all the OG cameos make it awesome. (like the ones on the banner above)

To be frank, anything shy of anime tentacle porn is tame compared to Queen's Blade. Seeing the first episode of that show will give me nightmares for a week. But I digress.
This game may be battles, bots and boobs, but at least it knows where to draw the line. Call me crazy or even hypocritical, but even blatant fanservice should have limits.

You got a point there; I haven't seen Queen's Blade but have seen previews and have heard of it before. My take is either makes it Ecchi or Hentai, not borderline-H. But that’s beside the point.
OG: Frontier has no problem with balacne the fanservice. In fact the whole "bounce" feature first originated in SRW, starting with Alpha Gaiden. Now because of it us fans can't see a SRW game, spin off or other wise not have the "bounce".
