From what i read, the japanese version has only one save slot. I suppose we can't expect more save slots for the NA version, can we ?

I don't mind.
The World Ends With You had only one save.

I don't mind. I'm not like those people who tend to use multiple save files. Dunno why though.

^Matter of tastes I guess... I used to make separate saves at the end of each CD in FFVIII
I would love multiple save slots esp if multiple endings :(

I would like more save slots too, though I doubt if its possible if it isn't in the original version to begin with. I was a bit annoyed too in TWEWY that there was only one save file, even though you could replay every part of the story if you wanted to unlike other games.(my main reason to have multiple save files)
If it has multiple endings, I almost consider it a must. "almost", because as long as it has at least one save file I will probably end up buying it(unless there are some bad reviews)

I used all 16 save slots on Persona 4, because I like to save at certain points in the game.
Just as long as I don't have to fight this game's equivalent of Velius.

You can always use an AR Max to store saves.
I hate that TWEWY only had one slot, though.

Aren't there infinite save slots in PS2 games?

I would like that too. I usually use only one save slot, since I'm the only one who plays my games anyways. But if the game has multiple endings, I think it would be nice to be able to double or triple my save file before making a "choice", if that's how this game works. Not that it doesn't sound like a great game, but I think it would be a real pain to have to go through it all over again just to see another ending.
And if there are multiple endings..., forget it! I'll most likely end up seeing only one ending, but if I happen to have a lot of patience, and I really enjoyed the game, maybe two. Or if I replay the game later on, I'll do it mostly for the sake of replaying the game, but would make sure that I would get another ending that time. I can even work with two slots, but three would be great. I guess I can live with only one save slot though, if that's all it has.

Even though ps2 games are saved on memory cards, each game offers a limited number of save slots. Not that it's a big deal though, since they usually include a large number of them. Now that I think of it, it does seem kind of strange, since the game is saved on a memory card rather than the disk itself. I would also be curious to know how that works, but I don't really care how anything works, as long as it does.

I would like at least two, if possible--I absolutely hate it when handheld games have a single save file when it's a game that would benefit with more.

I would also like at least two saves, because I share my games with my brother and it's annoying to have your file deleted just becaue he wants to play too.
Plus I always make sure to keep my first save and never delete it. I don't know why, but it is funny if you play your older games and then compare your first save file with your current. This way you can really see how you changed your style of play over the time.
Unfortunately I seriously doubt, that Atlus will bother making another file. I can imagine, that it would be too much work.

I really don't see what's the problem of only having 1 save file. Because IMO, one save is mostly what I needed.
If it's this game and you want to do stuff. You should think about where you're saving your game.

I like one save slot for this game. It encourages commiting to your plan, and following it through. Also if there is different directions things can go - it encourages complete playthrough to go a different path.
still buying two copies... in case my girl wants to play.

i personally like having more then one save slot because sometimes you want to try things with certain characters as far as strategies and paths to take without screwing yourself over. or even getting into a dungeon you can't get out of only to find that you are too under leveled to beat some hidden boss you are forced to fight with no turning back. cause that kind of thing just discourages me from playing. having 2+ save files allows a back-up file set about 2-3 hours behind where you currently are just in case something goes wrong
on another note, any word on if its going to be wi-fi? *crosses fingers*

You should tell him to get his own copy if he wants to play.

Then I wouldn't be able to play his games and therefore had to buy them myself which would lead to less spending money for Atlus games. I hope you can see my misery.

I'm alright with there being one save slot..granted sometimes having that extra one or couple does help but i suppose we'll find out sooner or later what they plan to do about that if it'll be one or multiple.

Maybe communicate and say that you would like to finish the game before he plays it. I don't know, it sounds like having a brother who plays the same games as you has its pros and cons. I have a sister who doesn't play games, and a dad who occasionally picks up a game, but not very often, and never plays rpgs.
Therefore gaming for me, is a solitary experience. Which has its pros and cons too. I never share my games, but I have to buy them all, and I can't discuss them with anyone unless my friend happens to pick up the same game. I could visit message boards like this one, which I do, but it's nothing like being able to discuss them with someone in person, or over the phone. Especially if it's really good.
Maybe you can decide by letting the person who paid for the game play it first, just a suggestion. If I complete a game, I usually start over the next time I play it anyways. But it all depends on your preference. If you prefer to keep your save file, I can't really come up with any suggestions. We both have our reasons for wanting more than one save file, but the point is that we both want more than one save file. If it can't be helped though, I guess there's nothing we can do about it.

Of course, he gets to play them after I finished them. The only problem is my way of playing games i.e. keeping my first save file. I guess this also the reason why I'll never play EO again.
I also know the cons of beeing the only person who plays such games. Except my brother all my friends don't care about games or they care about the wrong games. Most of them only play games for the PC. I'm happy that there are enough crazy people out there with same interests.
I know Atlus won't add another save file. I don't even know if it is possible, since I imagine there are many things to keep track of. Still it's nice to see, that there are other people out there who aren't happy with this. Maybe they will consider this for their next DS game ( if there will be another) and add another save file. (Highly unlikely since Atlus USA ≠ Atlus Japan, but it sounded like an nice closing sentence ;))

Hmm, I think it'd be sad to have only one save slot for this kind of game, for any SMT for that matter. I believe Devil Survivor is supposed to have multiple endings because of the choice siding with either Angels, Demons or going Neutral (which is my personal choice). But then again... when you have completed first run-through, you'll probably get the kind of replay option you have in say... Persona 3, where you get perks for starting a new game on your completed game save file.

I think it is possible for them to add save files, but I'm not sure. I'm no expert on how things are made, since I only really care about the final product. That's too bad about your EO save file, but to be honest, I haven't played EO either(I'm assuming you're talking about EO1), since I beat the main game, despite the fact that I still have my data.
So it's not just you. EO requires a lot of commitment, though it would be a real pain if I had to go through the main game again. I wonder if I should even bother with the post game, since I decided I would get around to it "eventually", but haven't yet. At least I found out about the labyrinth, and understand the moral of the story.

One save slot for this sort of game just seems to be a cause for possible frustration. Sure, while many games of this type don't necessarily NEED more than one, it certainly wouldn't hurt. Also, like others have said, I have friends who borrow my games and having to delete my own save so they can play is just...depressing. Haha.

There are actually one and a half save slots in the game. There is a Suspend feature that allows you to save while in a battle too.

Do you folks who are for having to replay the game EVERY time you want to do something different or get a different story arc play anything else at all? Most RPG gamers I know or see in forums have more than they can play through at the moment anyway. Having to replay the ENTIRE game to see all of it is illogical and ridiculous ~ UNLESS Devil Survivor is the only thing you plan to play for the rest of the year

That was my only problem with Yggdra Union PSP. I hate it when games don't erase their suspend data. Unlimited retries is cheating!

Valkyria Chronicles comes to mind with regards to the unlimited retries. I am not bothered by one save slot, and I usually save often enough that having multiple slots on some games is overkill.

I'm not obsessive enough to repeatedly play a game until I see everything. I'll play through it once, maybe twice, then shelve it to play other games. However, I'll come back to it someday, and, when I do, I'll be glad to know there's still some content I haven't seen yet.
Besides, it sounds like it will be plenty of fun, so why would it be bad to replay the game? You must be one of those story people.

multiple save slots are always nice, especially for games like Lux-Pain that are balls hard and it's super easy to miss the game winning item. However, if one slot it is, then I won't complain, with most games, I will be the only one playing that copy, and I won't need multiple slots.

Hmmm I don't mind. The only reason I would want more than one is to save my favorite scenes or something to that nature but since this seems to have high re-playability it's not too bad... but I've been wrong before haha.
Point is, I don't mind only having one save slot. :]
But how am I going to pay for this on top of CoH?!? I already bought KitN last week... I can hear my wallet crying a little.

What bugs me most about one save slot is the inability to lend out the game. I like having my own save file and then a free one for a friend, or to be able to see a different branch after a choice...
yyyyyeah this. For a while I was living in a house with three other people who all owned copies of The World Ends With You, but since they each had their own save, I still couldn't play unless I went out and bought my own, so I ended up...not playing it. Derp.

I myself dont really see the problem with one save file, i really dont mind it.
Personally i dotn get why people are complaining bout one save slot. It adds to the replayability of the game, which is always nice, realy love that in games. And personally i dont mind replaying games again and again, as you get to see stuff you might not have seen the first time through and will probably always find something new and interesting. Even though i do agree that games can become boring after certain amount of play throughs.
The again i can also see why people would love to have atleast a few more save slots (which i myself sometimes use). Sure its always fun to have a file to drop back to so you can mess around and try some new things out (then again you could do that in a new game though too), or save so you can see a funny or favourite scene again like i did for P3 when at the beach. Again as many have stated it would be good so you can share with friends or siblings or what not (luckily i dont have that problem myself) so they dont overwrite your saves.
The other thing is (some of you i believe have mentioned this too) Being able to choose another option for dialog, but i personally find that "Spoils" the game as such, why not just wait to go back on another replay of the game, or just re-load the game and choose another option if you really want, if for example you chose the wrong option by accident, but other then that i thinks its better to go with the first option you went with.
But then again each to their own ways i guess.
