IRVINE, CALIFORNIA — FEBRUARY 6, 2009 — Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced that Shin Megami Tensei®: Devil Survivor™ for Nintendo DS™, a new RPG/SRPG hybrid in the award-winning Shin Megami Tensei franchise, is coming to North America this summer. This may be the first Shin Megami Tensei epic to land on Nintendo DS, but no aspect of the experience—story, visuals, music, or gameplay—has been shrunk in the process. In fact, Devil Survivor invigorates the series with an unprecedented RPG/SRPG combat system and more character customization options than ever before, all wrapped within a compelling, branching narrative. For the first time in the series, players can use a new Demon Auction feature to collect and eventually fuse demons as they seek to create the most powerful party.

The government has quarantined Tokyo after a surprise demon invasion. No one within the isolation zone is safe. Can you and your peers turn the demons against themselves before time runs out and all is lost?

Yeah, first 6 months of the year is pretty well planned out. I'm happy to see a summer release for me to look forward too.

So far I'm planning on getting Devil Summoner 2, SRT, SMT: Devil Survivor, Uncharted 2 and White Knight Chronicles. I'll probably get Knights in the nightmare too. Not sure about Crimson Gem Saga yet though. In any case, I'm pretty sure that any more games that show up will be taking quite a wait time before I get them. Atlus just robbed me of a lot of money this year.

I don't really care if this one has anything in the Spoils program or not... I mean, of course if there is one, I'll be there for it, don't get me wrong. But if there isn't, I'm not arguing either. ^^

Thankfully, I'm set for just about any console Atlus decides to release on... except for PS3. If Atlus announces anything for PS3 that I want, though, that'd be enough to warrant the purchase with my existing list of games to get on there. ^^

True, or you could get a used one for about 30 bucks cheaper. NDS are built very well, I don't think I've ever had one break on me. I did have a left button on an older NDS go wonky on me, but Nintendo fixed it for me. Other than that, it was years of smooth sailing with their products.

Agreed. I own a ps3, and have no intention of owning the other system. For one, I don't need a system that's unreliable, and I can't stand the controller design. I guess I'm lucky in that I actually have a ds, and use it regularly. I love it, it's one of my favourite systems, and certainly my favourite handheld system.

I own 40 ds games(even after getting rid of a number of them). 17 of them are rpgs, 9 of which are Atlus rpgs. 19 of them are rpgs if you count the Trauma Center: Under the Knife games, though I don't consider them to be rpgs. But that would make 11 of them Atlus games.

The point is, I think it's a great system. And it's inexpensive compared to most other systems(I'm not sure how the price of a psp compares to it). Besides, Atlus also seems to be fond of it, and is releasing a ton of games for it(though I think Devil Survivor will be one of the better ones).

Money is tight for me too though, even without having to purchase any systems. I'm definitely going to have to make some choices, and certainly won't be purchasing every Atlus release on the system.

Unfortunately, there is no Atlus goodness in July yet (which is my birthday) but at least I have Rise to comfort me via the P4 wall calendar. ^^;;

No, it's a mixture of both. There are isometric battle maps and turns and objectives like a normal SRPG. But when you move a character next to the enemy and choose "Attack," the encounter plays out as one turn (or more, depending on Extra Turns) of a 3-on-3 SMT-style battle.

Haha, I had a DS in the past. Sold it because there was barely anything interesting for the system. I JUST bought one this morning, the Onyx since I hear its going out of production, so I'm all ready for this game.

I'm REALLY looking forward to this game so much, it's driving me nuts already. I'd gladly have it switch to Super Robot Taisen's release date in April, and push SRT back to June.

I agree. I try to get my hands on anything regarding the SMT-universe, but I'm not really interested in most of Atlus' other titles though (perhaps except for Class of Heroes, dunno yet). And NIS as you mention are quite interesting as well. Still playing Disgaea 2 and Makai Kingdom sometimes.

Oh my Gawd! Finally! A SMT game for DS. *dances around like a headless chicken* I've been wondering if they would have the chance to make one. Definitely gonna buy the game once it reaches Philippine shores...if it does at all. -_-

I don't even need to think about the artbook and such. By the time it comes here, only the game itself will be provided. Still at around Php3,000 which is equivalent to around US60 (Ack!) or around US30 if they have it at Circuit City which is probably the cheapest I can get it at. Sigh.

But nonetheless, Atlus really did an awesome job! I was just about to give away my NDS Lite since I already have a PSP along with my PS2. Good thing I didn't, charity be darned! Lol.
