ATLUS BUSTS OUT WITH SUPER ROBOT TAISEN® OG SAGA: ENDLESS FRONTIER™ FOR NINTENDO DS™
Good luck keeping your hands off this strapping RPG Adventure!
http://www.atlus.com/res/srtogds_glamshot_small.png
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- FEBRUARY 4, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it has secured the North American publishing rights for Super Robot Taisen® OG Saga: Endless Frontier™ on Nintendo DS™, a sci-fi/fantasy-action RPG side story of the Super Robot Taisen Original Generation games. Embark on a journey across the fascinating worlds of the Endless Frontier along with robots, were-people, mermaids, demons, and humans all living with each other in harmony... more or less. From the fantastic new battle system to the captivating story of alternate worlds and characters bursting at the seams with personality, there is plenty to discover and uncover (*ahem*) in this well-rounded adventure.
Unlike most RPG battle systems, players will be engrossed in the interactive, action-packed, fighter-style combat in Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier. Customizable turn and time-based attacks allow players to administer the ultimate beat down on enemies by juggling them in the air and executing a continuous chain of kicks, punches, slashes, gun attacks, bombs, and more. In addition, players can call on their allies to extend their attack chains to ridiculous lengths.
As a continuation of the Atlus Spoils fan appreciation program, each and every launch copy of Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier will be a premium boxed release, with a soundtrack CD featuring music from the game included in the final retail package. It's our way of saying thanks to our fans for their continued support!
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier is scheduled for release on April 28th, 2009 with an MSRP of $34.99.

About Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier is a unique sci-fi/fantasy RPG that takes players across a variety of worlds, ranging from an apocalyptic wasteland covered with the hulks of downed spaceships to a fantastical place of fairy tales and dark magic. Join Haken Browning: gunslinger, professional bounty hunter, and amateur ladies' man, along with his motley crew of robots, were-beasts, secret agents, and busty princesses as they delve deep into the mysteries of how their worlds came to be and face a threat that imperils the multiverse.
Key Features
• Super Robot Taisen is back - Built on the DNA of the beloved Super Robot Taisen series, Endless Frontier expands the scope of the universe into a saga of multiple worlds and the conflict of humans, robots, and countless others living across space and time. The long-awaited return of the series brings with it with a brand new story and characters and a reinvented battle system.
• High-action chain combat system - Enemies go up and stay up with a battle system that lets you juggle foes with a run of kicks, punches, slashes, gun attacks, bombs, and more! Chaining is the name of the game, and timing-based button presses let you create an acrobatic string of assaults. You can even call in allies to keep the chain going longer!
• Customize your attack combos - Pick and choose from a menu of attack skills to create the combo line-up you want to use in battle. Skills vary in strength and resources used, in addition to side benefits of stunning, triggering critical hits, and more.
• Bonus items - Owners of the Super Robot Taisen Original Generation games for Game Boy Advance™ can unlock bonus items in their Endless Frontier game by booting the game with the GBA cartridges in the GBA game slot of their DS unit.
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier has been rated "T" for Teen with Alcohol Reference, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, Partial Nudity, and Suggestive Themes by the ESRB.

If they decide to dub the game, I hope they use Bridget Hoffman so she can reprise her role as KOS-MOS/T-elos's voice :D
But if they keep the Japanese voices, I'd be just as happy ;)

I agree. She was definitely missed in Episode 2.
Sold. Definitely buying at least one copy, maybe an extra one as a spare too.
Thanks for bringing this over, Atlus. Always great to see more SRT here.

"...this is one stacked action RPG..."
"...Juggling your opponent in the air..."
"...This is a fully-developed, well-rounded adventure..."
"...and busty princesses-as they delve deep..."
"...you may just get lower back pain from the effort..."
"...one sci-fi action RPG sure to stick out this spring."
Very cute.

Usually I always opt out of newsletter because I find them completely useless, but this is the one newsletter I don't find useless.

The only SRT game I have is Original Generation 2, because I found it cheap at a used game store. I haven't even played it yet, I just bought it because it said 'Atlus,' same as that weird Samurai Western game...
But I'll almost definitely buy this game. Damn you Atlus, you're taking all of my game funds for '09 and I will never be able to play Killzone 2 or FEAR 2! :p

@ Byrc: Sir you need to relax. You are embarrassing yourself so please act gentlemanly to the Atlus Gods.
Didn't mean to insult, they just aren't like NISA who are too cheap to do decent dubs, hence the necessity to stick with dual language option because no one in their right minds could stand listening to NISA english dubs for more than 30 minutes.
I"m just saying, Atlus doesn't do dual language, and I understand its out of the question with the DS (due to cart mem size restriction). Atlus has so far shown prudence by allowing dual language option in all their psp releases (big kudos to you guys).
The thing is after teh horrible dubbing done on Summon Night Twin Age, I don't want the same thing to be repeated on this game.
Thank for you for releasing Endless Frontier, please let it be in japanese.
oh one more thing can't I actually make an opinion that isn't constantly stroking Atlus ego. I find that more embarrassing. I think good criticism is better than just worshipping them.

You see that's the problem stop comparing Atlus with NISA.
BTW one more thing, (taking off the troll mask), is that right, we can hookup my gba SRT OG1 and OG2 carts to get special items? I hope I get extra bonuses because I have both (and in the original boxes w/instruction manuals too :D). Damn that makes my day.
Thank goodness I decided to keep my old ds lite when i purchased my new DSi (which has no gba slot btw).
Why shouldn't I compare Atlus with NISA, they're both niche rpg publishers. They're pigs who eat from the same slum bucket (the slum bucket representing us Loser gamers who get funny feelings down there when seeing half-dressed anime chicks beating the #### out of robots).

I guess I'm insane then. I find the dub for Disgaea 3 to be quite good. I haven't encountered any voiced characters that make me cringe yet, which is unusual for a dubbed JRPG... though the last dubbed JRPG I played a lot of was Xenosaga episode 1.
Damn dude, you take this stuff seriously don't you.
Of course I have standards, however we all like some cheese and goofy games once in while. If you didn't why are you posting on this thread. This game is far from Triple A Quality. Ask anyone whose played the import, its not that great, but it has a hilarious story, and combat keeps you interested (not for that long though).
Unlike some people here I don't confuse the actual good games, with the games i like because anime characters in it and story is hilarious.
I have a friend whose super serious about his games, he won't touch NISA games with an infinity pole and the only Atlus game he'll play is from the SMT franchise. He doesn't like goofy anime character with big boobs ruining his games. You don't seem like the type, so I don't think you should make such comments.

Generally, it's just good sense to dub something into the language of the country you're importing a game into, ESPECIALLY if there are size restrictions. And like you said, Atlus has done dual-language. They did it with Odin Sphere as well, I recall. The problem comes when there's a BUTT-LOAD of talking (Persona, I'm looking at you), in which case they go mono-language.

There's not that much voice acting in this game, and there's no point in subs, when you have TEXT BUBBLES. (No animated cutscenes, I'm afraid) Now, having said that, size restrictions on a DS cart means there's going to be limited voice acting anyway, so don't get your hopes up for .jp voices.

Combat looks like fun to me. Namco X Capcom with giant robots? Sold.
Yeah it may definitely be a sub since the game comes out in April and we are in February already and this month goes by quickly. I accept the game in any form as long as I can understand what's happening. :)
You won't understand what is happening anyways with all that bouncing action going on.

Day one and we have a dub vs sub fight? Come on guys it's not that big of deal. If it's sub (Well that would technically just be a text game with Japanese voices) it will not be that big of a deal to anime fans who are accustom to it. If it's dub, well I really don't know when everyone became such good judges of what is and what is not good voice acting so I don't see all this bad VA work apparently floating about... I'm just saying that most if not all VA work pretty dang good now a days. Well at least if you have a good dubbing company that uses voice actors that main source of income comes form VAing games and anime, then you get a good dub.
On a side note, I've met few people who work in the anime industry at a convention (Head of ADV Matt Greenfueld, and his wife Tiffany Grant the voice of Asuka from Eva... Weird talking to her and think of a 14 year old German girl. I also met Jan Scott-Frazier, one of the first Americans to work in anime.) and it was generally accepted between them that a game or a anime will not be sold without a dub in America. It's because the product needs to appeal outside the current audience of anime fans and gamers, it needs to pull in new fans and a product with a dub can not do that well at all.

Wrong OG Atlus, and anybody that's seen me post on here knows I love DS games.
I've come under the impression that OGs and OG Gaiden have yet to be brought over due to Bandai Entertainment (Well...used to be Bandai Visual's grab along with the movie, but they got subsidized into Bandai Ent) licensing the Divine War series and movie for stateside release, thus turning the regular OGs games into a series that needs to be licensed.
That's just my guess though. Could be any number of issues.
That being said, I'm still happy for the announcement of this. The preview video way back when had me interested from the start

That would be nice, but unfortunately unlikely. America is the land of non-cooperation. Heck, Bandai couldn't even get the U.S. branch of Pizza Hut to let them keep the ads in Code Geass.

Combat looks like fun to me. Namco X Capcom with giant robots? Sold. Well... aside from the "hu!" "ha!" and "ta!"s they say things for their special moves. I guess that's what people are hoping to have subs for? I've got the Japanese version and I definitely would prefer Japanese for KOS-MOS and Suzuka-hime but meh... DS limitations and ATLUS are looking to prevent that. *shrug* If KOS-MOS is Bridget then I mostly won't care since I use her in my party ALL the time once attaining her. XD Having said that, I don't terribly MIND ATLUS's dubs, sometimes they're a little wonky though when it comes to saying Japanese names properly. *coughpersonacough* But what can you do.

Nope, I'm actually looking forward to FFXIII and Star Ocean. Also, both Devil Survivor and Devil Summoner. I probably would have even given SRT another shot if it retained its SRPG roots. Hell, I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for The Dark Spire!

So civil.
I can see why you would think this is strategy RPG, since you clearly hate all things SRT and thus would not pay attention to things like details.
However, this is closer to a traditional RPG with a Valkyrie Profile-like battle system and an overworld like...Breath of Fire.

Subs in the middle of a battle would be the among the most un-read things ever, second only to game manuals.
Also, it would probably be an unnecessary hassle to code.

Other than the fact that the game style draws my attention, I have to admit that I don't think I've played a game with this type of gameplay style before, so it's definitely what is drawing me into it.

Timing. Each character's attacks take a certain amount of time or do a specific number of blows, so you try to chain them together to break enemies' guard and then juggle them. If you mash, you just waste attacks and may miss entirely, allowing the enemy to recover and block again.

Supposedly a boss battle from the game, but the only thing I can take of it is that you have your standard placement of characters at the start of the battle, then you get a certain time limit to do your moves. It might be possible that by pulling combos you also extend your time? Not sure on that part.
The rest is definitely the going around to talking people, finding items, the whole standard stuff. The battles look to be the only thing that separates this from the rest.
I'm not a fighter fan at all myself, but I have to admit this looks fun. I read somewhere else that you can pull off some really crazy long combos and whatnot. The enemy appear to have a lot of HP too, so it's not like you'll be easily winning them either.
In any case, take what I said with a pinch of salt, as these are only observations. I'm willing to give anything a try at least once.

Game's theme song, which will be on the soundtrack from what I hear. "Butterfly" by Perfume.
I read this somewhere else on the 'nets and wanted to clear it up. "Butterfly" was used for Endless Frontier's TV commercials and preview video. It's not actually in the game, and not on the bonus soundtrack CD. If you look at yesterday's Atlus Faithful e-mail announcement there is a link to a large picture that shows the packaging and you can read the tracks on the back of the CD package

You have a set amount of actions you can take during a turn. It's not timed, you could put the game down and walk away in the middle of a turn. Cancelling a move shortens your turn but fills up your super gauge more quickly. And finishing a battle with a super move nets you an extra 30% experience.
Of course, I would much rather have a traditional SRT game... but this game is pretty fun. If a bit icky.

That's not icky, or like a creepy uncle. Creepy uncle would be if the girls are six, or Harken's 47. It's the harem dream.
Having said that though, there's really only one girl who's interested in Harken romantically, and Harken's really only interested in one girl. The rest have a more platonic relationship, with Harken's playful (and horribly awkward in English) flirting. Harken acts like a cowboy, totally hamming it up, but it's on purpose.

Quick question. I realize that the Mechs in this one seem to have taken a bit of a back seat, but I'm wondering to what extent? Are they merely elements in the story, or do they enter into the gameplay somehow? Also I noticed that in the picture of the game package the Alteisen is red on the box, but blue on the soundtrack CD.

HUGE backseat. They're part of the story, but there are like 5 mechs total in the entire world, and they're only slightly larger than the average human. Also, it's the same Alt-Eisen. It and Weisritter can change colors when they do their really powerful attacks. Gameplay-wise, they can be treated like a randomized extra party member who can't cast techs.
And you will not be seeing Beowulf. Though you are approaching how this game ties in with the rest of OG.

Sharp eye. There are a few mechs beside the Alteisen, but I forget which ones. They are human sized in this game and act as a "striker" (they're not called that, but it made me think of King of Fighters '98 ). During battle you use the A button to attack/combo and at certain times you can press right on the d-pad to switch to the next fighter or left to call your striker to do an attack. The Alteisen in this game is normally blue but can power up and turn red. Once again, Atlus' attention to detail is unmatched: the Japanese release also had a pre-order bonus disc whose cover shared the same image from the game package, but with the Alteisen in blue instead of red.

Cool. Glad that the bosses don't have this tactic ^^.
I dunno about this player in this video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOGD7Wy3Uvs&feature=related). But it seems that once the bosses HP has dropped within KO range, he tends to switch to a new person. Kinda weird I guess. Because this leaves the enemy open for quick KO damage on your party.
If it was me, I'd concentrate on one person at a time. Or that I'd use an attack that'd hit all fighters.
Which strategy? Focus on one character? The AI most certainly does have that tactic.

I'm laughing at all the hate this game is getting over at kotaku.
Quotes from the site.
"They could bring OGs or the phenomenal OGG over and what do the chose?
The bastard of the whole series."
"Can't believe we're getting this tripe instead of any of the proper Super Robot Wars games. I'm a huge SRW fan, and I've not heard a single positive word about this."
"Tig ol bitties. While I'm a fan of most Atlus games, I have to pause at this one. At least in Persona, the breasts aren't so...prominent."
and someone who clearly lived a sheltered life on the internet.
"That character art looks like some 12 year old's masturbatory doodle. Is this what passes for game characters these days?"
Good times....good times. But hey, if anything this is publicity for Atlus. Even after some explain licensing issues and whatnot, they still ignore it.

Good times....good times. But hey, if anything this is publicity for Atlus. Even after some explain licensing issues and whatnot, they still ignore it.
Of course! No one wants the truth, just a reason to whine, bitch, and moan over once again being denied what they want. :D Gotta love fandom.
That being said, I was also hoping for OG/OGG, but since I own the japanese versions of both of those, I'll settle for this for now.

So, with all this game leak stuff and with two game announcements so far (this game and D.J = Dokapon Journey). How long do you guys think this'll hit the gaming magazines (Game Informer, EGM, Nintendo Power etc...)?

This will probably get into the April issues, since most magazines are done well in advance of the coming month.
Though...it probably is early enough to make the March issue. Hard to say.

SRW is alive in the US! It's nice to see the series getting another chance, even if it is this little side story. I watched a lot of the previews when it was coming out in Japan and the premise is odd but interesting. I'll eagerly be awaiting this to come out, not only to experience some more SRW action, but in hope that we'll see OGs and OGG coming out stateside.

I agree. OG shouldn't be hard because it only has one license, and the anime based on this game has already hit the U.S. By way of SRW OG OVA and the main series; OG: Divine Wars. And that it already has received a GBA release.
Also, OG has original mechs and original characters; Ryusei, Aya, Masaki Ando etc... Which's like the extended version of GBA's SRT OG.

Regrettably, Divine Wars hit the states via Bandai Visual, who charges Japanese prices for Japanese-size DVDs. 3 eps per dvd, $50.
My only concern is that if they brought it over, they'd probably have to dub, and I just don't think there's an American voice actor who can do the "nekketsu shonen" voice required for ALL giant robot shows, with the exception of Yuri Lowenthal, and we really can't expect him to voice everybody.

Bandai Visual USA, which was subsidized into Bandai Entertainment due to economic trouble last year but is still operating from within Bandai Ent, has been known for it's insanity. All of their Dvds were subtitled only, with almost literal translations most of the time (For example, for Divine Wars, they translated Kurogane as Kulogwane (http://www.bandai-ent.com/h/srw_tv/mecha/mecha.html) among other translation errors). And as mentioned, they're priced and set up just like with Japanese dvds with obscene prices for few episodes.
A few years back actually at a con, they explained it to a mass of angry fans to the extent of "Well, we want to give anime fans the legitimate Japanese experience"
If I remember right when the Divine Wars dvds were first announced, they were somewhere in the area of 30 bucks, and the movie was 60.
Just for the dvd.
Edit: Huh, I was off by 10 bucks, but the point stands.

In fairness to Bandai Visual on that translation snafu, Kulogwane was the text used in the original Japanese anime. When they show mech or ship names in the anime on a computer screen or whatever, they did it in Engrish. And the Engrish was bad.
Hopefully after being subsidized, they'll release a box set of Divine Wars at a reasonable price.

I don't know. Atlus got it right in their translation of the GBA games nearly a year before Bandai Visual even grabbed the license, so they have no excuse in my opinion.
Then again, I'm a bit bitter towards them for just how they think they can get away with this kind of crap with dvd releases..

Don't get me wrong, I think Kurogane makes sense and is WORLDS better. On the other hand, I speak/read Japanese, so Kurogane actually has a meaning to me, whereas Kulogwane sounds like some tribal African village. For anyone else though...
I'm just saying that Divine Wars was produced at least in part by Bandai, and Bandai owns both Banpresto and Bandai Visual. So when the original Japanese animation uses the words Kulogwane both in the anime and in the little intermission screens when they show the stats of mechs/ships, I'm not inclined to blame the company that brought it on over to the states for the admittedly "what the hell is this" spelling of names.

True. To be honest, I'd have less issues about SO2 if the voice acting wasn't EVERYWHERE. The characters are a lot more tolerable in-battle than in cutscenes. That's what I mean by that. Then again, I'm not that far into the game yet so I don't know how other characters have fared compared to the PS1 version.
Seeing as the majority of the voices are in-battle for SRW, I still have hope.
Zeta_Nova

Well, won't take long to string up a credible cast. Since the acting is only in the battle scenes.
Like when characters attack and you see their skills pop up. Like with Haken's Jackpot. Or they get hit etc... Atleast though that none of that garbage acting from Chaos Wars will be coming back anytime soon.

Hrmm, I’m a little concerned over this title. I would really love to get this (even though I still don’t have a DS X_X) but for some reason it seems a little…too good to be true. For starters the game doesn’t seem like something I’d see as a US DS game, it looks to me like a US ver would be rated M, however it’s rated T on the temporary box cover (I checked ESRB and it not listed at all) Could the localization actually censor the game to make it a bit more marketable? 0-0
I would really prefer the game to be in English instead of Japanese however it would really suck if the game’s actual content would be changed in any way. X_X

Not to mention that fans would have a hard time understanding what the characters are saying. And I doubt that they'll be including japanese voice options into this game.
As for the cover, I also doubt that it's temporary as well. Because when Atlus got P4, L.A 2, T.BD (Tokyo Beatdown), E.P (Eternal Poison) etc... that these would ultimately be the retail version. It was never changed from the time that the game kept on receiving news updates to it's eventual release.
Well, at least IMO that from the time the game got announced to it's eventual release into stores that I've never seen a change in the cover's design. It's been pretty most intact with the japanese cover design.

Dude, I was only referring to the integrity of the game (as in if the game would be identical to the JP release except for the dubs) that’s why I said “too good to be true”. I have no doubt that it will make it stateside lol. Sorry if I made it sound confusing.

My bad, I had misread the article on the first page, I kind of thought it was saying that they where only using that one as a promo cover. I was also confused because when I checked ESRB they didn’t have the game listed on any rating (as far as I could tell) yet Atlus had it under T.

A quote from gamesradar (link can be found in other thread)
Which leads us to the jiggle. SRTOGS: Endless Frontier is obsessed with sweater puppies. The characters constantly talk about each others’ huge knockers, and the exquisitely detailed female characters (both robot and non-) prance about the screen with jelly globes a-jigglin’. For some reason, the main fembot companion’s green clothing rips off her body whenever she gets excited; at least we think that’s what was happening when her green cleavage gave way to shiny pink jiggly twins.
I dont think we'll have to worry, it sounds like Atlus will stay faithful to the original.

I wouldn't count on it either. Because due to the various anime licenses that we still have yet to tackle in order for these series to be given the green light. At the most though, the only possibility of these games ever seeing stateside release is that SRT OG/OGG. Due to it having original fighters/mechs. The only issue we have here though is SCEA.

I've been reading this and I must say a few things.
Main reason why people want subs is the pre and post battle remarks (where many lulz could be had) Not so much in the battles themselves. And frankly a ToV-quality Dub would be asking too much.
And I believe the problem with OGs/OGG is the massive bickering between Sony and Bandai over the dub or sub issue. SCEA has always traditionally forced dubs, and Bandai doesn't want to pay the costs of dubbing it nor endure the fandumb rage that would result from no voice or the most likely sub par dubs.
Still people love to complain about things.... it's that kind of stupidity that hindered Tales of Legendia's sales (that and the fact comapred to even ToS, it seems rather basic especially compared to Abyss and such)
And a reminder of the fact an non-OG SRW is basically impossible to release here due to licensing issues
Still I'm glad it's coming here sub or so-so dub.

Sub? I'd say it's practically impossible. Since it never happened in the japanese version. So, don't expect our version also having subs as well.
Rasen

Dub. Since subbing would actually require coding that didn't exist in the original.

IMO though, you should learn to stop these "dub hatin' " issues you have. And learn to accept these dubs that come in these games that Atlus does.
2nd of all, like I said before. Just be greatful that we're gettin' another shot at a Banpresto game. It's not very often that we would get these kind of games. At most, it'd be slim that we get these kind of games. Due to licensing issues.

I'm still going to try to get it either way.... but we'll be lucky if we get a good dub. Luminous arc was nice.... but after hearing the jpn voices for so long; I kinda worry about thigns getting screwed up. Since Tear of TotA's dub failed to nail the dere dere parts, so as a result many folks think she's just tsuntsun.

I understand where you're coming from. There's a lot of japanese games I've played where I've had to bury that fear when playing the english versions and just enjoy it for what it is. Experience ended up being better as a result, but it still nags from time to time.
Of course nothing can save a bad dub, but I'm learning (again) to have faith in Atlus.
And now for something different: Been watching gameplay vids of this and ghod they look insane! That's going to take some time to master.
And just out of curiosity, for anyone who has played this is the Stylus used in this at all? Can't see why it would be based on what I've seen so far, but you never know.

Unless you want to see this game through to the end. I'd suggest that you guys endure with these english acting and deal with it. The videos that were posted on Youtube in it's japanese version was just about 1/2 of the game's story. Which only focused on boss fights, nothing more.
If not, then you can just mute the voices as a whole and just have the sounds. But what good will that do. Only just take a whole chunk of the enjoyment and gameplay experience ^^.

If memory serves, the stylus serves almost no role at all. If it is used, it would be for map navigation and maybe item management (but I doubt it).
Regarding the battle system, it's actually quite easy to pick up.

Though I heard in EF, there isn't really voiced bits in dialouge but in shops and battles only (the main concern is the remarks at the start and end of battles) If badly dubbed the humor in those remarks would be ruined.
Though to be honest we're speculating a bit too much on the matter without much official word on which way it'd go at this point. (I'm reminded of the OGs Huckebein hysteria that happened among some fans)

Yeah, all of the Huckebeins that had graced the GBA OG games were included in Original Generations and Original Generation Gaiden. The whole Huckebein-Gate thing went beyond a couple of English SRW forums, that stupid rumor engulfed part of the Asian fanbase as well.
I can only imagine the ****-eating grin that Terada had on his face at that time when he learned about that rumor. Because he made sure he did his part in fanning the flames to keep it alive. Re-editing promo videos, little to no Huckebein content in Famitsu coverage, and removing the Huckebein profiles from the OGs website prior to the game's release was brilliant on his part.

And some smash fans thought Sakurai trolled them.... Terada trolled things hard.... and I wasn't aware that it was that wide spread. I think he saw the OVA scenario as a way to avoid writing original materal, which caused certain Lamia fans to massively rage.
I did find out about huckies being in the games.... though I did sure feel stupid though.
Still I while similar in some ways I wouldn't say that Huckebeins are too much like gundams, no plot enriched phase shift armor, no white/blue/red paint scheme, no beamspam. The whole thing displeased RR fans since the the anime series were kinda overflowing with Grungusts.

Wow. I didn't realize it went to such an extent, though I guess it does show that Asian fans are watching us as well. I never watched all of Divine Wars, but I found myself wondering why Bullet's Mk-II was never in there.
Though to be honest, the R-1 looks more like a Gundam than any of the Huckebeins. Maybe it's just the color scheme, though.

Honestly I've been meaning to get into the series for quite some time (with the GBA game and trans. ROM hacks), but I've just never gotten around to it. This time I've promised myself to get this game and finally start the series, but when I saw that the NP article revealed that it wasn't really an SRPG I was kinda let down. But further reading excited me of the really actiony battle system. I hope it succeeds but nevertheless, I am starting the series this game's day one!

The whole Huckebein rumor shouldn't be that hard to believe. There were observant folks among both English-speaking and Asian SRW communities. Not to mention there are some fans that peruse both English/non-English forums. Rumors that have some standing are bound to make the rounds...regardless of how silly they seem.
"Bandai forced Banpresto to remove the Huckebeins from OGs because they resemble Gundams too much."
^ Paraphrased quote that popped up during Huckebein-Gate.
I can't believe the whole Lamia thing escaped me when posting earlier. OGs' OG 2.5 finale created quite the ****storm too.
With regards to the topic at hand, I'm still on the fence about whether or not I'll pick up Endless Frontier. While the gameplay and cast seem rather interesting, what little bit I know about the story left me rather unimpressed (I would've imported the game had I thought otherwise). Coupled that with high expectations (probably unreasonably high) that I felt weren't met for the GBA OG games and I'm at a loss.

Thanks, Atlus U.S.A., for bringing the entire Super Robo Wars: OG series stateside, up to this point.
Who knows, at this rate, I might wind up taunting Namco Bandai for a lack of self-pride, seeing how you guys over there at Atlus U.S.A. are taking better care of a franchise/series that they have zero intentions of bringing over stateside than Namco Bandai's handling of the Tales series.

Well, y'know Namco. They like being "hush-hush" about their RPG franchise and whether it gets a chance to cross to the U.S. Namely with the Tales series. And the U.S branch of Namco licenses any Tales RPG. That fans would be interested in.

To be fair, Namco ISN'T bringing over OG:Endless Frontier. Atlus is. Atlus is the one who decided to take a gamble and invest in localizing the game (which we should reward them for). And while it would make sense for Namco to care about it, the primary advertising responsibility falls to Atlus.

To summarize, this game is co-developed by Monolith Soft who made a game that uses a similar battle system, Namco × Capcom. This is also why both main characters of NXC, Reiji and Xiamu appear in the game as well as Kos-Mos.
Here are the trailers of Namco X Capcom to show the battle system. Even though it isn't like the gba games it is still a fun game. So be sure to buy it for OG sake.

As a result, strings of ordinary attacks end up being the name of the game, which gets repetitive quite quickly. Watching Reiji break out a lengthy combo the first time around is quite fun. But when it's required for almost every battle? Not so much.
Were we not EXPECTING and WANTING this type of system from the begining?
I dunno, that review seems to have been written by someone who saw that the game was laden with sexual innuendo and decided, from that moment, to dislike the game no matter what.

"Blatant sexual innuendo and a tongue-in-cheek storyline can only carry a game so far."
I'm sorry but I stopped after reading that; you want a game about Blatant sexual innuendo and a tongue-in-cheek storyline then I think Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball disserve that kind of review. (Ok I know the game is old and forgotten; an modern version of this would be Onechanbara) I know I am selfishly plugging this game for Atlus support on SRT but the game is more than just Boobs.(I know! Surprising right!) Sure the game doses have the "fan service" most anime fans are used to. I find it funny the first thing on everyone’s mind is just that and nothing else. (I know it's obvious though)
The game itself is still fun, especially for those who played namco x capcom. I'll admit it dose get a bit repetitive but it isn't enough to ruin the game. I just fell that everyone is focusing on the Kaguya cleavage way too much, and good thing "The Beowulf" isn't in this game for he would have killed everyone who kept staring at his daughter’s chest. But really, just because the game has a little more fan services than normal doesn’t make it a bad game. A good example as far as giant robot anime is considered is Godannar. It is a much watch for fans even though like this game, it has a bit more fan service than every thing else in the genre but it excels in everything else including giant robot action. I think the destructoid review that was posted a few days ago is more honest and fair than the 1Up Review.
But before I leave you with this long-winded post I have this to say. Although Kaguya Nanbu may have the cleavage and the giant "Zankanto" sword, Suzuka-"the princess" is my favorite girl in the game. (as you can see on my new icon, you like?) She dose not have the boobage that everyone is staring at on poor Kaguya and is the shortest of the crew, but she has the "style". Every thing about her interest me, that she a demon princes, that she has the "naga the serpent" laugh, her over confidence despite her shortcomings and the "dance of love!" Not to mention she has a RyuKooh/Koryuoh like robot by her side at the start if the game. Here is a link of Suzuka and her partner, Jyakigunoh kicking booty!

Does anyone else happen to know if Gamestop gets deliveries on Saturdays and Sundays? I doubt Sundays very much of course, but I don't know about Saturdays.

I find it funny the first thing on everyone’s mind is just that and nothing else. (I know it's obvious though)

Ok, I can see you are a robot fan as much as I am. The boobs do not faze me as much as others but if you read the commits on any of the videos I can almost graduate the first thing it will say is boobes. (I'm not kidding when I say that as I have read the commits on various websites and on youtube) You and I are just one of the few who want to see the NXC style gameplay, the robots, the lulz story and the many OG references. (not to spoil it too much but one of worlds in the game is set in the shadow-mirror world.) Believe me when I say this viewers, there are games with much worse sexual innuendo in it http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3361 (sorry for bringing it up by the way)
For you and you're support for SRT I give you "The Beowulf special" to hold you over till tomorrow.
EDIT: As far as I know their shipments are between Tuesday and Friday depending on the game. It just this is one of those rare cases where it will most like be arriving on Friday.

Yeah, I know, similar to the videos of the Alt and Weiss from the PS2 OG's game, half of the comments are all commenting on how hot Excellen's voice is. (Frankly she just sounds like every other overly excited, flirty Japanese girl to me.) If I were any OG character, I'd probably be Ryusei. "Man she's hot! Hm? What girl? I meant the Angel-G!" Though Kyosuke and Excellen are easily my two favorite characters. You have no idea how much I'm hoping there's a Rampage Ghost attack in this game, I still get giddy every time I see the Alt and Weiss get positively medieval on some poor unsuspecting Inspector!
I dunno, that review seems to have been written by someone who saw that the game was laden with sexual innuendo and decided, from that moment, to dislike the game no matter what.
Having a chick review this game is like having a vegetarian write a review of a steakhouse restaurant. What a waste. It's like when some review websites would have people who don't like shmups reviewing shmups. "Oh, this shooter is so dumb. All you do is dodge bullets and shoot wave after wave of enemies. And if you keep using continues, you can beat this game the first day you buy it." Totally missing the whole point of the game.

Not sure what, if anything, a shmup is, but having a girl review it isn't really so much of an issue, since you don't know what their orientation may be, and actually the ideal person to review something isn't a person who likes something, it's someone who's impartial, they neither like nor hate it, which means they'll give a more impartial view.
Sorry, I figured that the term "shmup" would be fairly known on the Atlus forum, since Atlus gamers are more into Japanese games than anything. A shmup is a 2D shooter. No, I disagree about the "impartial" notion of a reviewer, and the "orientation" comment is a moot point. Someone who doesn't know crap about playing RPGs, for example, wouldn't know how to get deep into the gameplay of a given RPG. The only ones wanting to know about this game would rather read a review from somebody who is knowledgeable about it and can give a better review of it and not just their hangups of what they don't like about a game they've already made up their mind before really playing it. I wouldn't write a review about a typical Halo game or a Grand Theft Auto game without saying something like, "this must be great fun for all you trailer trash meatheads out there, but I think it sucks." I would only be showing my bias against such games, and it wouldn't be fair to those who actually like to play them. Better leave it to someone who really loves American-made games.
Point being, I want to read a review from someone who knows what they are talking about.
it seems that Gamepro has a favorable review (http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/209943/super-robot-taisen-og-saga-endless-frontier/) of this game at least.
