View Full Version : Models/random japanese figures subforum.
Well, since there is a forum for Manga, and a forum for Anime, I think there should be one for random Japanese figures! Things like these would be relevant to Atlus properties: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2034/2232804428_7ff4c52479.jpg
And I have also seen some interest by some people (not all, but not all approve of Manga or Anime either) in Gunpla type models, which may be interesting and add another community element to the site (for instance, I get PM's and questions about that stuff all the time).

I think they should have it
I have a small figure collection (36+6 chess pieces of CLAMP) but I really like those stuff

Probably a good idea for the AtlusOnline subforum. I would PM the mods there.

At one point I was pretty into collecting them, but it's just too expensive of an hobby, especially with todays economy.

I agree, I just started putting together gundam models so It would be awesome for the forum to open me up a bit more.

Does every offshoot hobby need its own subforum? Is just posting a thread about your toys that painful?

^No doubt. I really think a pinned thread should / could suffice. The amount of subforums is starting to become a bit overwhelming to some.

I don't find it overwhelming, just obnoxious. When you keep starting new subforums on a forum with a community this small, you seriously dilute the activity for any given subforum. If we started breaking up some of the larger threads in Off Topic and gave them their own subforum, traffic in Off Topic would bottom out.

^I was just trying to be polite since disagreeing with certain people around here sometimes tends to be viewed as some sort of personal attack, but yes, I agree with what you have just said.

agreed. I'm one of those people Kakizaki is talking about, all these subforums are getting a bit ridiculous, it's not a big deal though but instead I just use the niffy "New Posts" button (next to the search and calendar link) more often.

^I read that a little too quick, and almost thought you meant something else Pibb. ;)

Well if anime and manga get seperate forums...
anyways I got a bunch of #### as far as figs, maybe one is atlus related.

Yeah, the thing is that I don't necessarily mean a thread for my toys but a place to discuss that sort of thing. If we take the offtopic Anime thread for instance, it is more of a "What are you watching now" thing than somewhere where actual discussion happens, and when people make threads to discuss a particular series, I have seen it be frowned upon.
The idea I have is more about having a forum (as opossed to a thread) where people post particular series/kits/models, maybe techniques, pictures of their models in work, etc, this is all fairly in dept discussion that is probably not that interesting to people that aren't interested in the hobby and that wouldn't work well in an "offtopic anime like" thread format. After all, the spoils thread already exists to just post about your toys as you would.
Furthermore, I don't really think several threads on the different aspects, and types of models would really be appreciated or desired by most of the people in offtopic the same way as general threads on Anime tend not to be.
Anyway, just my two cents on what I feel might be an interesting and relevant addition to the "Online community" that Atlus online purposes to be.
On the traffic lost by subdividing part, I would ask if you are really all that interested in traffic that mostly discusses someone's new Sijanju Ver Ka model and how it's coming along for instance; or about how awesome the Kshatriya resin model is ;/. It somehow seems a bit niche for most people that hang there (no offense intended, it just doesnt seem as a general off topic interest).

^Maybe if it was just a hobbies subforum? That could contain topics ranging from cosplay to models to figurines.

Having mulled it over with Inzaghi, here's an official response:
We don't think there's really enough of a demand to have a full subforum dedicated to figures or cosplay. You can feel free to create a thread in the Off-Topic forum, and people can continue to talk about them in those particular threads, much like the Supah Annie-May thread before the new Online subforum appeared.
^ Is this for regular Atlus forums, or Online, or both?
Oh well, thanks Onion!

This covers the regular section of the forums.
Ah, I was more interested in the Online part, but I didn't see a suggestions board over there and thought them the same. I pm'd the Online mods to see what they think about having it over there (would be so cozy next to anime and manga!).
Thanks again for the reply, take good care of your Alteisen!
