I am not saying I need to use a guide, but I liked all the little extra things the last guide had( i.e. Culture and history) and there are always stupid little things I overlook.
Plus I have noticed that all of the guides that have come out for the Megaten games in NA territories are of top notch quality.

I though the "first" (PS2 game) was simple enough not to need one (not that I made it terribly far) but yeah, the P4 one is very nice for the S.Links and enemy drops. I'd likely pay 15-20$ for it, considering the 10$ I'm saving on the game.
If anyone were to make one, I would assume it be by double jump. Check there =3

Hopefully DoubleJump will do it and hopefully they'll be given more than about 30 days to make it this time. The amount of errors, both factual and layout-wise, was astounding in the P4 guide but then I heard Tim say they only had about 30 days to put it all together so they really had to tear through it. They even had to send it off to be printed before they got round to writing a strategy for the "ultimate hidden boss" that shall remain nameless to avoid spoilers.

I wasn't impressed with the P4 guide, but I LOVE my Nocturne, and my Devil Summoner RK vs SA guides. Especially the Devil Summoner one due to all the high quality illustration and screen shots, and the nifty history lesson. Plus the japanese cherry blossom layout of the pages was too beautiful for its own good! :)

There was a -lot- of hidden stuff in DS3 that you'd never figure out without a guide, like getting the Onmyo sword, figuring out how Red Crystals work, most of the little side events like getting the Street Car Pass and Foxtails, and a lot of other small things. The guide's good for all of that.
Considering that DS3 didn't sell to well, and guide sales tend to reflect game sales, I doubt the first guide did very well. With the even smaller print run on this game, I doubt it'd be profitable to make a guide for it. Maybe we'll get a downloadable PDF thing like they did for Atelier Iris 1, though. But you never know, Pubba's crazy.

More good points from you today. Eh you know what, I'm being swept by the DS2 wave so I think I just found my free shipping filler item (http://www.amazon.ca/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Summoner-Official/dp/0761554475) for my Ys DS preorder.

I hope there is guide. There weren't guides for SMT: DDS 1 and 2. I liked the guide to DS1, so I hope they follow a similar format.

It seems like there is gonna be an ELECTRONIC ONLY version of the guide for 10 dollars possibly in the works...Check out the double jump forums on the DS1 guild section under my topic. DJ Pub gave a good indication of something to come...
Your welcome for making that topic :P

Eh, they haven't done a fantastic SMT guide since DS1. P3 and P4 were very subpar for them.
Good for an average strategy guide, sure, but DJ have set their own bar really high. :P

To be fair, the P4 guide was subpar, period. I've never read a book, magazine or even a pamphlet with so many typos, copy-paste errors and just general misinformation. I've been a member of the DJ forums since Disgaea came out (the original) but the P4 guide failed in terms of content and, while it had a certain visual appeal, was printed on really cheap-feeling paper. The cheap paper (with what was printed on one page showing through to the other side on some occassions) combined with the obviously rushed contents made for a pretty cheap feeling product.

I think there were a few reasons why the Nocturne guide was so good, and they didn't have to do with DJ - the guide's original Japanese counterpart on which it was based and one of the people outside of DJ assisting with the project.

P3's guide was okay, but it really didn't offer much that made the guide worth having.
Though I did like the background on the Japanese school system in the beginning.
(And it made the week delay slightly more bearable.)
I loved the Devil Summoner guide. Shame DJ haven't done more full size guidebooks.

I totally agree. Any guide I have picked up for any shin megami game has always been top notch. Wish I could say the same about some other guides.

A guy at Doublejump says they are interested but an official guide would not be profitable for them... Is Atlus itself interested in having a guide done?

Funny enough, I never had any guide and I figured out a few of those things you've mentioned. That's not to say I'm saying you're wrong or anything, but you're definitely right because there are a lot of things you'd never think of looking and whatnot.

Maybe because the game is getting such a limited print run? It would kinda make sense why they would say that then.

He said they may be doing an unofficial guide if they have Atlus's permission, but I thought you don't need permission for unauthorized guides???

Yeah, because you're still showing copyright material.
