Looks like an interesting game, and I found Princess Maker 2 to be a pretty entertaining game. It'd be a nice game to see in English, especially since the text is so important to the game.

I was thinking the same thing - I wouldn't have suggested it before MW^2 was announced.

Oh yes, Atlus is definitely on its way to becoming the prime publisher of princess related games.

Properly localized, Princess Maker would make a fortune. Women would LOVE that game. Of course, you'd have to strip out all the bits about making your daughter a whore (who didn't get "I'm going to be a prostitute, daddy!" the first time through on the leaked PM2?), criminal, S&M mistress, or whatever, assuming PM4 still has 'em.
OK, I liked it, too.

Then why even play it?!?!

I don't know anything about My World, My Way, but I quite liked Princess Maker 4. Even went out of my way to get the PS2 LE version of it. :V
I don't think a game like that would be overly popular here, though. While I can't recall if you can still make your daughter a hooker or not, I do know that a lot of the gameplay from 2 (assuming that's what most everyone here is familiar with, being the only one with an english version) was heavily sacrificed for storyline in 4. There is no longer any roleplay element, and the Harvest Festival's been stripped down to a single artwork event panel.
It's pretty much completely text now. :V
So yeah, forget 4. (Try for maybe PSP 5!)

Princess Maker isn't even popular over here. Just because you pervs want it doesn't make it a sound investment for a company.
Ok, ok, here is a fun little game.
Say I am ATLUS USA and I am thinking of localizing this game but I think it's a game that will only sell to pervert teens that don't leave their parents basement. Now give me reasons why this company should invent their resources into bringing this game to the NA market.
oh, and guess what "because I would buy it" isn't a good enough excuse.

Edit: I thought "over here" meant the U.S.
Saying "Princess Maker isn't even popular over here" isn't even worth mentioning - there hasn't been a retail release of the series yet. A game be expected to be "popular" if people in the U.S. haven't even had the chance to make it so. By that same logic, Squaresoft shouldn't have released any Final Fantasy games in the U.S. because it wasn't popular here before it was released.
If you're Atlus USA and you have the opinion "it's a game that will only sell to pervert teens that don't leave their parents basement", you'd have no reason to "invent" any resources.
However, if you're wondering why Atlus USA should take a risk and bring this game over, take a look at their past game library and see how they have had success with non-mainstream games - Disgaea, Super Robot Taisen, Trauma Center, Etrian Oddysey, and more (I'm assuming a measure of success because each game has had a sequel here).
This game has had 5 games in its series, and PM4 specifically has had several remakes (PC, PSP, and DS, and re-releases). I'm not saying it'll be as well received here in the U.S., but at the same time, it should have some success here considering it's a well-made game for a wildly popular gaming system.
Also, I'm not going to defend Princess Maker and people who enjoy it, but I do encourage people to give one of the games a chance before they assume things about it.

By "over here" he meant Japan(check his location) not the US.
Also, someone stated the removal of RPG elements, so I guess this makes this nothing more than a visual novel "game".

Thanks for pointing both of those things out. I didn't realize that the RPG stuff was removed, which is unfortunate.

RPG elements or not, a game is still a game.
Phoenix Wright games proved that novel games can succeed any where in the world if it's good.

Right now, the best way to get a Princess Maker-like experience in English is through an indie game. "Cute Knight" is essentially PM2 with the player taking the role of the heroine, rather than her father.

Cute Knight isn't bad. The art is a bit shoddy at times, and it's a lot easier than PM2 (for example, I took no damage against the final boss of the dungeon), but at least it's something else to play.
I'd totally be up for a localization of PM4 for DS.

Except... I was joking. :\
Princess Maker 2 is awesome. Played it to death on the PC years ago, and my wife also got hooked.
It would be great to be able to play Princess Maker 4.

I had never played a life raising sim till Princess Maker 2. It was a creative game for the time period and interesting to play even today. I think people would give this game a shot if it was released with with proper marketing.

I think a release of Princess Maker 4 could work, they would just need to market it to girls (and the Atlus faithful). There are already many "princess" type games for the DS (so the market is there), but most are just collections of touch based mini games so one with different play mechanics would stand out.
Heck, I thought it was already out and had to do a double take when I saw the cover of "Princess Debut"...

No, while I would love to see all the Princess Maker games come out in the DS and PC and Wii and get converted to english properly I must confess that I cannot see or have faith in any Western company ever doing it properly. What they call localizing and editing somehow seems to do harm to the games.
They would remove the more morally questionable endings such as being a whore or s&m queen, remove the pictures. Removing the child's clothes would be out of the question. Giving her the things to enhance her bust would also be taken out. Those are just a few examples
Then the western jokes and morals would be added.
No one could ever do it properly, no one would ever be allowed until our countries grow up. Even though it is not what you would call a hentai or bishoujo game it would never be done properly. We should not even have gotten that dos version of Princess Maker 2. We would not have if it had been made now.

I support this, but only on the PSP. It would be nice having a dub of this game.

Wasn't Princess Maker the game where you could raise the girl to fall in love with you at the end? Because I don't see that sort of thing flying in a Western market somehow.

Keep this stuff away from my DS and PSP, it frightens me so ; ;
I would, however, approve of more point-and-click adventures pertaining to detective stories getting out there, particularly on DS. ('.')b

There is also a Princess Maker 5 out there for the PC, PS2 and PSP. The PC and PS2 ver. came out in '07 while the PSP one in '08. There are, of course, zero chances of ever seeing these games in a localised form.

We fans should be thankful that games with Princess Maker-style gameplay exist in English. Cute Knight, and more recently, Spirited Heart, were both written originally in English. Both can be purchased in paid-download form for Windows as well as OS X.
