No.
Wellll, unless you count battle grunts and groans.

Yeah, I was abit surprised when I got it last week (I actually found a used copy for 60 bucks at Gamestop, yay) but it doesnt really take away from the game for me, tho. Kinda like with Folklore, it allows you to imagine what how your character reacts, sounds, etc in the situations he runs into. Besides, you can focus more on the bg music which sets the atmosphere quite nicely.

I barely noticed... Seems like a superficial thing to me...

Lack of voice acting didn't affect Nocturne one bit. The characters' mannerisms carry their personalities across beautifully.
Devil Summoner, on the other hand... it didn't bother me much, either, but considering the lip movement, it seemed like it was meant to be voice acted, or something.

I always thought that Nocturne was one of the few games that did better because there wasn't any voice acting. I did like the battle grunts and groans. A few got me to chuckle.

Some of the stuff demons say is so funny. "Errr, I'm just going to go have some tea now....Bye!" lol. Would have been cool to hear them speak.

No, it wouldn't have. Voice acting would have ruined SMT3's atmosphere.

Lol, yep, ok. Text is way better than fully acted dialog.

I think Atlus did dub some stuff over though... Like the English battle cries some demons make. It's all small stuff really.

Reading the text was fine with me. And besides, if there was voice acting in it, then there's that chance people wouldn't have liked who they got to do some of the voices. I always imagined the main character's voice to be soft-spoken, you know. But I'm sure they would have used someone who would have ruined that image for me.

Only thing is the main character doesn't speak at all.

Which I'm sure is why he was a master of demon negotiation.

I think that all modern RPG's should have an option for turning off VA. Maybe it is due to when I started playing games, but I really just don't think that the inclusion of VA is a necessary part of the gaming experience.
Also, there is no excuse for modern RPG's not including full control over both BGM and ambient sounds. These are basic features that PC games have had for years. Yet the Japanese developers who actually include these options are few and far between.

Yes. That is one of my issues with P3. That quality of the VA itself isn't too bad, but it is way too frequent for my tastes. I simply turned it off. I generally prefer no VA whatsoever.

Precisely. Pointing and clicking is much more efficient. ;)

The main character is supposed to be a representation of you, giving him a voice would ruin that.

I digged the fact it didn't have any voice dialogue. Though, I wished Dante was the exception. :( I bought the game (playing a SM game for the first time) with the impression that I'd hear his lovely voice. But, alas, that was not to be.

I only read through the first page of this thread but I hope that SMT4 doesn't have any VA and retains the original character designs instead of adopting the Persona art style =/

Just out of curiosity, were the demon VAs like that in the original version, or was some of it dub work?
For example, I'm pretty sure Thor says "DIE!".

Yeah you would think Raidou games would have VO since the main character has a name ... well assumed name
EDIT: Not that it needs VO since it's been said already that it allows your imagination to create your ideal voices.
