I've lurked around here before, but was finally forced to join in order to participate in the LA2 tourney, which I was utterly defeated in. =O
I didn't think I would hang around and post after the tourney since I'm already active in the forums at GameSpot, but I've grown to like this place and have decided to stick around and harass you guys for a while longer. How lucky all of you are. xD
I'm a 21-year-old gamer girl with an obsession for collecting the things I enjoy, which includes games, anime, manga, and anything else along those lines. With RPGs being my favorite genre, of course Atlus is one of my favorite companies, following closely behind my beloved NISA. Atlus is responsible for introducing me to my favorite game ever though, which would be Disgaea: HoD.
Anyway, you can call me KenshinGirl, KG, or another nickname if you come up with something that's not too stupid. I'm currently building my own place, so I'll be busy sometimes, but I should be able to drop by every now and then. ^^

I bought my PS3 just to be able to play D3. Then I got surprised with Valkyria Chronicles which was an amazing game. Now X Edge is actually being localized, so it's a good thing I went ahead and got my PS3 instead of waiting for a price drop.
Of course, I already pre-ordered and completely paid for this Prinny set (http://www.rosenqueen.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=291&HS=1) at Rosenqueen. xD

@Enzeru: Nice collection. Even with all the manga I have, I still need pretty much all the ones you have. xD
@Olethros: I actually don't have a regular job since I have severe social anxiety. I just do whatever odd jobs I can find that don't require me to directly interact with people, mostly landscaping and construction. It's thanks to my work in construction that I acquired my building materials so cheap and am able to build my place. I'm hoping to train as a medical transcriptionist once I've settled into my own place. The training is done at home and I'll be able to work from home as well. It costs money for training though, so I have to wait until I'm done building my place so I can have the funds for it.

^ I understand completely. I suffered from anxiety/panic attacks for many years. Still do, on occasion. Hang in there.
Also, the Medical Transcriptionist is a great idea. I work with several of them, and as far as I can tell they all are very happy with their choice of career. Granted they're on-sight so it'll be a bit different, but I imagine not too terribly so.
All in all, I'm very, very impressed. :)

Don't be too impressed, I've had my fair share of problems too. I graduated high school at 15, turned down scholarships since I was terrified of going off to college, and have been in hiding for the past 6 years, wondering what to do with myself. I also don't drive since I'm too scared to take my driver's test with an instructor in the car with me. I decided to work on getting my own place and a steady job this year, but I'm not sure I can ever get over my fear of people.
My cousin works at home as a medical transcriptionist and says she enjoys it and it pays well. She says she's able to set her own hours and everything, so it sounds good to me. Oh? What kind of job do you have to be working with them?

Problems or not, you decided not to let it hold you back from life entirely. That would be an easy trap for most to fall into, and you avoided it. I've heard/seen many others who weren't able to accomplish that. So, whether you like it or not, I am indeed impressed. :p
I don't particularly want to bore you, or anyone else, with too long an explaination of what I do. The easiest explaination is that I diagnose cancer.

I too have problems with anxiety, probably not on the same level as you, but still enough to be debilitating at times. :/ I sometimes think that is why I wasn't as successful at a few jobs...
When I was much younger, I would vomit before every football game I played in -- although the feeling would dissipate after the first few actual minutes of the game once I was involved in some contact. I sometimes still get that feeling while I'm lifting.

@Olethros: Well thanks then, I never though I would hear anyone say that since I've always felt I was behind everyone in life.
So you're an oncologist then?
@Kakizaki: I've had anxiety ever since I can remember. When I was 4 and in daycare, I was always hiding wherever I could. I once climbed the tree on the playground and nobody could find me for a while, causing a bit of a panic.
In elementary school, I was always plotting new ways to get out of school. I once rubbed poison ivy all over my face, leading to a doctor's visit to get a hydrocortisone shot, which I ended up being allergic to. That led to two weeks of no school. Another time, when my excuses were no longer keeping me out of school, I just hid out in the woods behind our house while pretending to walk to the bus stop. It was the dead of winter and I had blankets and food packed in my bag and stayed bundled up reading my textbooks until time came around for me to be home from school. I got away with that for two weeks before my school finally called.
Middle school was the worst though. I was getting to the point where I could no longer take it anymore and started blacking out all the time. I skipped more than half the school year in 7th grade and was charged with truancy. After that, my mom finally agreed to have me home schooled, so I did my courses online and graduated as quickly as possible so I would never have to worry about being forced to go back to school.

You're most welcome. I remember so many instances in my life similar to what you just described. All I can say is to always remember that you will forever be your harshest critic. It's part of the affliction. When others see all the positive accomplishments, you'll be dwelling on the set backs. Try not to do that as much as possible, OK? ;)
Nice guess, but Oncologists are on the patient end of things. I'm more than willing to describe exactly what I do if you're interested, but the simplified version is that I'm on the laboratory end of the equation (No patient interaction, so less anxiety ;)).

@Olethros: You're right about that, I'm rarely satisfied with anything I do. I'm always thinking I could have done better or could have done more. I'm pretty happy with the things I've been accomplishing lately, though I sometimes think these are things I should have already done. I haven't been dwelling on the negative too much though and am happier than I've been in a while.
Ah, I have a general idea of what you do then. I'm still interested though, if you want to describe it. =P
That doesn't make you rich or semi rich.
Indeed it doesn't. The owner of one of the construction companies I've worked for is a friend (If I can call him that...he's nice to me but I don't really say much to him) and let me have all the materials I need for only $1000. The most expensive thing is going to be outfitting the interior of my place, which I'm hoping to keep below $5000. I'm not anywhere near rich or semi rich. xD

^ My exact title is Fine Needle Aspiration biopsy Cytology Specialist. Basically, a thin needle (same as for drawing blood) is used to take a tiny sample of something that might be a tumor. Then they send it to me on glass slides and I look at it microscopically to determine exactly what it is. Obviously there's more to it than that, but it gets the idea across without getting all wordy or using a bunch of jargon. :)
I'm glad you're feeling happier about your accomplishments lately. Hang on to that feeling!

I think that's awesome that you're building your own place like that. One of my aunts did something similar a few years back and she said it's the best thing that she ever did. It also didn't run her much in the way of money, either. I can understand what it means to be your own harshest critic because, even though I don't have social anxiety, I do suffer from mild manic depression and alot of the "low set" hits me in the form of self-criticism. Still, you've made significant headway in accomplishing things and that's really what matters in the long run. I can't wait to see a finished product of the house!
