View Full Version : Question about the original SMT
I want to play this game, and I have a chance to do so. Time is limited however, so I'm curious if anyone knows how long it takes to beat this game?

It'll take you some time... If you're going to play it, i'd suggest doing so when you have more time to invest.

How'd I miss this thread?
I'd say it was about 50-60 hours, but that really is nothing more than a guess because it has no sort of in-game timer. But it is worth it, both SMT 1 and 2 are pretty much the best games on the SNES IMO.

SMT took me 30-35 hours with the PS1 version on the so called "Expert" mode. As a reference, Nocturne took me 60h the first time I played it.
Oh, if that's the case I'm not worried at all. I should have no trouble getting through this one.

Straight through, for those with dialogue they can understand (fan translation or Nihongo students), SMT is not a long game through one time. But, you get more out in replay and can get lost for quite a while if you so desire, or the game so desires. BUT like most RPGs, you could grind to your heart's content and make the game last as long as you want.
I would dare say you could hustle through in about 45 hours and still admire the scenery, if you are well balanced for the challenges ahead, and have a knack for RPG gameplay ATLUS style. If you don't give it enough time to show you its fun with some good battles, some interesting demon behavior and some stuff worth looking for, you might as well play something else or just run through with a guide, cause you are rushing it.

Well, I seem to be getting the knack for Atlus gameplay. I really am new to all of the games, but I'm figuring out how it all works with SMT III, and Persona 3 & 4. For me, it just comes down to playing when I can, be it an hour before school, 30 minutes at lunch, or whatever. The small bursts add up.

The game takes a million years because it's impossible to find anything and there are no good walkthroughs on the internet.
