Recommended Anime: Ys Legacy - Entire Series

How about completing the Ys experience when you add the upcoming Legacy of Ys I&II DS to your cart? I highly recommend Ys Legacy. As far as game-to-anime conversions are concerned, this is one of the best (and many will agree, this is not just the fanboy in me talking). It's old-school fantasy anime that won't get on your nerves because it's too cute. Lots and LOTS of action. The first series' animation looks a bit dated, but the second one still looks very contemporary to this day. The DVD menus are really awesome in that they emulate the 8-bit Ys style.

Good stuff. Highly recommended for fans and newcomers of the Ys series. You'll get to see Adol Christin (the protagonist) in a new light. You'll actually get to hear him speaking. :)

Is it a retelling of Ys I+II's story?

I guess what I'm asking is, should I watch it before or after playing Ys I+II?

hmm. it kinda sticks to the main storyline but it does take some liberties. I haven't watched it in 2 years. Maybe you should watch it after playing the game, to avoid any spoilers and to fill in the blanks. Especially if you've never played any Ys game before...

What you could do is play Ys I, watch anime I, play Ys II, watch anime II. Makes sense.

I owned this for quite awhile now, and highly recommend it.
It does give some backround on dogi, adols "long" time friend in YS III
Also the JDK music video is worth it!
Animation: 8/10
Sound/Voice Acting: 9/10
Story: 6/10 (Could be longer, jumps a few times.)

Overall : 8/10

I have that DVD set. I got it free off a fan pimp site about 2 or 3 years ago. I have yet to watch it but I'll wait till after I play YS DS to watch it.

Just ordered this off of Ebay a bit ago...the wait is excruciating
