okay here's the story:

I finished playing Persona 4 and enjoyed every inch of it, I do not want to play through though cause I already know what's gonna happen. So I decided to play another RPG game. I was really thrilled to have this game (the RPG) at first but as I play the game Persona 4 is at the back of my mind and I started to feel sleepy which I did not feel when I was playing P4. Does someone here share my pain? What could be the solution?

I've always been interested in that first one, even though I don't know what it is. I think I played its classic version or something in Namco Museum...and it was featured in Baten Kaitos, too, as part of a dungeon.

So these games can match Persona 4 in terms of fun?

how about you just give them a try anyway. dirt cheap on ebay. they are two of my favorite PS2 games of all time.

It's a hardcore roguelike (redundant pleonasm), think Izuna but much better IMHO. You're right on the two other accounts, but I never personally tried the Baten Kaitos version. It was also in Tales of Destiny (PSX). Druaga has had cameos in many Namco games and anime series, here's a GREAT writeup (http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=0&cId=3135870) that isn't actually from HG101.

Wow I never realized that the retro dungeon level in Baten Kaitos was a kind of tribute to Druaga. Thats pretty interesting.

As for a game to match Persona 4 in terms of fun, it all depends on what type of RPG you're really into, and pretty much what you like a lot in Persona 4 that you could find in another RPG. Not really sure what game that would be, but some of my favorite RPGS are Grandia 2, Baten Kaitos, Luminous Arc, Paper Mario(Mario & Luigi). I missed out on a lot of RPGs on the PS2 though, since I mostly spent a lot of time playing my Gamecube.

@jeffx thanks, i'll give it a try sometime...

based on my search there were only few RPG in the ps2 that is worth mentioning and I don't have any next-gen console as of now so it's really disappointing...

WHAT? PS2 has probably had the best batch of RPGs outside of maybe the SNES (with the PS1* close behind). Disappointing? I must have a PS2 backlog that'll last me for the next 5 years... sorry dude but do your homework, get out there and realize what you're missing out on.

*and you can still play those on a PS2!

YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE.

DRAGON QUEST 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, jeffx, you've gripped my interest :D I'm not the best at them, but I very much enjoy the genre; I'll definitely look for it as I recall seeing it at a couple GameStops and such. I'll give Ys VI a shot, too, since I always wanted that one.

Do me a favor and look into the Drakengard series. They're not the greatest games ever from a realistic standpoint, but I love 'em to death. The second one's the most fun, though, while the first has the best atmosphere. Oh, and the second one has some of the best music in a video game ever.

I just learned of the Shadow Hearts series last night, you might wanna check that out. Supposedly it's a dark rpg. however, I don't know anything about the series.I own two of the three Shadow Hearts, and I like them a lot. I've only beaten Covenant, though, and I need to buy the first.

good call on the SH series, though 2 is by far the best IMHO. You don't really need to play the 1st.

Which one is two? lol. They don't have numbers in their titles. I saw the metacritic rating for SH and didn't know what was going on, since I was only reading good things about it from customer reviews.

It's sort of rare. Midway never really promoted it so it sold poorly. Legaia 2 is also a decent RPG and can be had for less than 10$.

Also: you can edit your posts instead of double-posting. People prefer that (although I don't really care)

Yeah, I know you can do that. vBulletin on other forums I'm on auto-merge posts if they are after each other, which I'm used too. I've gotten lazy. I don't know why they don't have that on here.

he was talking about Shadow Hearts. Harvest moon is too large of a franchise to get that status. Rarity usually only comes with niche titles. There is a chance some day that titles like Persona 3, and Person 4 will be considered very rare, and it's value could possibly be in the hundreds since Atlus only prints so many.

But in any case, the value of something is only worth what the person will pay for it.

Pretty much, I've been considering picking up another copy of Persona 4 to be honest. So i'd have a "sealed" copy.

Here are my personal favorites I would go with if you haven't already;

Persona 2 IS/EP -Both games are amazing, first better than the other. You have full control over your characters and their persona (allows you to change them), conversations with demons that get you items, tarot cards, a contract, and you fight actual demons from the SMT series. I also forgot to Fusion techniques, always amazing and great help in battles. Very memorable cast of characters, a very dark, deep, and insanely twisted storyline. Any hardcore fan of the series needs to play this immediately.

SMT III: Nocturne - This was my first game in the SMT series and it was from an impulse buy. The best I ever made. Interestingly designed dungeons, awesome storyline, vast post-apocalyptic setting, demon negotiations, press turn battle system, having demons as your friggin' party members is just amazing. If you haven't given this a try yet, you really owe it to yourself, this is the pinnacle of the series.

Here are some other honourable mentions I don't feel like typing summaries for;

Final Fantasy XII
Shadow Hearts
Suikoden V
Wizardry
Tales of the Abyss
Zone of the Enders 2 (don't care if this isn't an RPG, it's essential if you play video games period lol)

I already finished Dragon Quest 8, FFX, SMTDDS1 and 2, and ZOE2 BTW the RPG that I'm playing right now is Legaia 2, maybe I just got a hangover from P4, probably just can't get over it when I first posted this topic. Anyways, thanks for the suggested games, I'll definitely try Nocturne and the latest Shadow Hearts.

lucky.

As to the topic here, I got a bunch of RPGs on my shelf, and I don't know if I understand what you're saying exactly, but if you mean something like "playing too much RPG" that you almost get a sense of "Man I can't take anymore, my mind is numb now" I can kinda understand.

I've had times where I played so many RPG games, I never wanted to see another one for as long as I live lol. That lasted like 2 days though.

I liked Legaia 2 as well, but believe it or not, I actually prefer the original "Legend of Legaia". I guess it's because it was my first ever RPG. That paved the way for me to try Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9,10, 12, as well as Tales of Legendia (Didn't care for the 2D style battle system though), Dragonquest 8, Grandia 2 and 3 (never finished them though). But for the most part, these are all good games if you want to put Persona on the backburner for a while.

However, according to the Strat guide, once you finish the first playthrough, some conversation choices may change. Also, there are multiple endings. I've seen the normal ending, and I picked up from that save and have decided to try for the true ending. I'm not sure I wanna see the bad ending though.

I found Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis to take up days for me, also Rogue Galaxy is a great game tho not quite the same type of rpg. And Zone of Enders 2 i will agree an amazing game and should be tried by all.

The Game Quest Direct link someone posted is selling it for $45. Kind of surprised to see it so expensive, I think I paid around $20 for my copy when I bought it from Frys.

I thought about this and ended up doing an (stupid) experiment, the report on which I would post if someone wants. Basically, I find that the effect of a game's play style on the mind varies greatly, and is affected by seemingly unrelated things. It feels just the same to me if I find good enough reasons to play something else, like having just finished a playthrough.

Please tell. I can understand what the OP is saying here. It's awesome that for an example that Persona games have a New Game+ option, but for most games I never play that until months down the road.

The story is still fresh in my mind and stuff, so it's hard to play when it's like that. That's generally how it is with any game of this type. After Persona 4, I went back to playing Persona 3:FES which I haven't played for months now. Funny enough, it almost feels like it's a "new" game again, and my passion to play it again is back.

I don't really understand it myself. In any case, I'm sure maybe by late summer or fall, I'll most likely be playing my New Game+ on Persona 4.

These are facts, yet laugh at them; results may vary.
____________________________________________
Take note of what you consume and play before the subject game and the apparent effects on gameplay.
I was really bored and did this once with Ninja Gaiden Black, Tales of the Abyss, Persona 4.
____________________________________________
Status: Almost finished P4, got stuck in NGB and am replaying it, got lost in TotA because my Synapsis is 100% from the last playthrough and took a while to get back on track.

My results:
____________________________________________
Food-Related:

After a meal= more attached and absorbed in each game.

Needing to use the bathrooom= strangely, became much more reluctant to pause the game, and did better in reaction time.

After bathroom= more relaxed, made better strategy decisions.

Caffeine= Did not seem to affect reaction time, did better at strategy, yet became impatient.

Lots of chips= Lost focus often, even when the chips were no more.
____________________________________________
Game choice-Related:

After Persona 4: Had a much better time with NGB, slightly lost interest in TotA.

After Tales of the Abyss: Was more reluctant to resume P4 or NGB.

After Ninja Gaiden Black: Grew impatient with loading times in both TotA and P4, started feeling bad when battles in TotA ended too quickly, set it to Unknown difficulty.
____________________________________________
Theories, inconclusive:
The mind adapts to the way your game is played, more quickly if you get absorbed in the game.
Switching play styles is something the mind naturally does not want to do, as it seems inefficient and takes time to readjust? I found that my own mind always leans toward whichever action is most "efficient", takes the least energy, strangely had a much easier time when switching from a fast-paced game to a slower or turn-based one, yet I got impatient and distracted more easily. And yes, I am lazy and have this much free time.

I solved the OP's problem by buying Persona 3: FES along with Persona 4, then asking my fellow Atlus faithful what other SMT games to buy.
