I have a lot of pictures of my dog, and several of my wife, but I typically don't keep one of myself on me. I doubt I have anything remotely even recent but I'll see what I can scrounge up.

Unless of course this didn't include me, in which case, ignore everything I just said.

You are wise beyond your years, young one.

Kaki: Originally I'm from Buffalo NY but moved out to Minnesota a few years ago due to a job recruitment. It really wasn't nearly the culture shock I anticipated except that now strangers walking past me on the street say hello instead of avoiding eye contact. If your not used to it, it's sorta creepy...

Yes. ;) Grad Student at a large college in Southern Minnesota.

Olethros
03-28-2008, 02:04 PM
I'm in Southern MN as well. SE, actually. Work at a very big Medical Clinic here.

Biggest change for me when I moved was getting used to night life here. In Buffalo, bars closed at 4 am and they had to throw people out at the end of the night. Here the bars are empty by like midnight. Not that I drink any where near as much as I used to, but it was a big shock.

Well, even though we close at 2 am, I wouldn't say your MN location is typical -- especially considering people like Redco are in the are. ;) Quite a few in my town, and in the Twin Cities are closer to what you have described about the situation in Buffalo.

While I generally agree, some #### from gaming would make great tattoos. Like Cammy's avatar, or the zodiac signs from FFXII. Actual characters are a completely different story.

thats neat looking.

Why are gaming tattoo's an issue though? Why are non-gaming tattoos ok but then tattoos of game characters or images questionable? It's cool to get some nautical stars, pin-up chicks, or spider-webs on your elbow, but nothing videogame related?

It's like a giant year book for me. Videogames were the funnest, coolest thing to me as a kid and all the memories of the games and playing the games are good. Now I can have a permanent way to remember and remind myself of these stories and characters and have something to show other people and my future kids. It'll be awesome to be that grandpa who introduces the kids to the best gaming stories.

My whole deal with excessive tattoos is twofold.

1. You (and the tattoos) are going to get old and saggy someday.
2. A person may regret them in the future once they "grow up".

Modest and tasteful is the way to go, IMO.

I know that they will get old and saggy, but they will always be there and I can stretch my skin back and creep out my grandkids and tell them stories. I actually look forward to that.

People definitely can regret tattoos, but those people usually got them when they were drunk or pressured into them or did it for a fad. I don't fall into any of those situatuons. Well, it is kind of big in my circle of friends/family, my brother, best friend, girlfriend and I all have lots of tattoos and its just something we have interests in.

I know it's not for everyone, but I enjoy it and just want to share it.

Eh, possum are gross and mean. A few years back, during fall farm work, I was throwing some food wrappers in a trash barrel while refueling. I noticed a weird glint in the barrel where my hand had just been, and I flicked on the lights in the shed. There was a damn possum were my hand was and it started hissing at me. I hated to do this, but I stabbed it with a pitchfork, speared it out of the barrel, and stuck it in the ground. My dad did the same thing like a week later. Gross little suckers.

Futomimi
05-14-2008, 08:14 AM
lol if I guessed the contents of that PM correctly.

Anyway, no one bats an eye at killing rats, mice, or cockroaches when they invade someone's home. Why not? Because they're pests. I normally don't like getting rid of animals just because they're "inconvenient" to have around (raccoons are a pain, squirrels piss off my mom, etc) but possums really are a pest. It's not uncommon for them to get into attics and have litters up there, which will then tear up your attic and eat any food that they're able to find.

I realize that it has its own niche in the environment, but that niche is pretty much already filled by outside cats and other animals that are out here. And, quite frankly, since they're coming out of the brush nearby and coming into suburban neighborhoods, it means that their population is too high and they will starve to death anyway if they don't steal food from people or other animals. It's pretty much the same reason why the government allows people to hunt deer, etc. after their mating seasons.

Pest control is necessary and totally dependant on the situation. There are times when extermination is entirely called for (and it sounds like this is the case as far as the situation currently under discussion). My only point here was to disagree with the useless designation. All things have their place in nature; some just don't mesh well with humans.

I'll do the same with larger bugs. Just the other day we had a large insect on the wall, caught it under a glass, slid a newspaper under it and let it go free. It took a while since I can't stand any insect with legs in the double/triple digits, but i'd rather do that than smash it.

Saycke, you may want to check your house out. I'm not sure if it's just the picture's angle, but from the way it looks, mice (even wild mice) don't usually have such a short tail and an elongated head...
which means that might be a baby rat. And if that is a baby rat, that means that there are more baby rats and a mother.

^ You do, it's a damn good game. I only beat it a few times though, it either didn't have a new game+ or had a really ####ty one where your purchased skills and money didn't pass over. I remember after I beat it the second time I made a save where I went to the casino ASAP and maxed out my cash so I could have a save with tons of skills on it that was still at the beginning lol.

I did. It was for Halloween the year before last for some contest on Capcom's forum. That's how I won my special edition RE4 stuff (just the extras, not the game, which I had already bought), my Ace Attorney poster, the three RE t-shirts, and my Phoenix Wright stylus/screencleaner I also forgot to put in the picture lol (I also forgot my little PW plush and Apollo Justice keychain, which came with my AA3 and 4 pre-orders). My original "costume" had black and white facepaint, little metallic ear thingies, and cardboard feet with a little cardboard shooter-mouth-thing. I'd post a picture, but it's too embarrassing lol.

I've got Marvel Vs. Capcom on Dreamcast (no case), SNK Vs. Capcom for Neo Geo Pocket Color (you can see it next to the GB carts in there), SFII on the VC, SFII': HF for the XBLA, Capcom Classics Reloaded for PSP (3 SFII's), and a Dan Hibiki action figure (far back right) along with an UDON print for Dan up on my wall. These pictures I'm about to show are missing a couple of things I forgot in the picture previously, but show stuff more up close -

I hated Viewtiful Joe and Okami's supposed to be like Zelda. I hate most Zelda games. I am kind of interested in eventually picking it up, though.
