View Full Version : So, what Personas were the most useful for you?

I had the best Surt ever: Null Physical, Null Ice, Fire Boost, Fire Amp, Ragnarok, Maragidyne, Deathbound, and High Counter :D He was very useful on normal encounters, along with Loki's Mabufudyne.

My boss Persona was Odin for sure! His magic was in the 60s, and Mind Charge + Panta Rhei was awesome, especially because I equipped the MC with Moon Potpourri, which increases SP by 30%, so I'd get to do it much more :D

I wasn't as intrested in Persona gathering in this game as i was in Persona3, i'm not sure why..

It just got somewhat boring for me..

But, the name excapes my mind...
I have a Persona that can use Re Patra and it has Megidola, Maragidyne and Bufudyne. It also has Mediarama and high counter.
So far it's been my most helpfull persona, as of where it stands i have a system where i know where the persona with the attacks i need is so i really don't need to remember their name.

One of my favorites was Trumpeter with Ziodyne, Elec Amp, Megidoalon, Evade Physical, Enduring Soul, Cool Breeze, Debilitate and Heat Riser

Hmm I would have to say Neko Shogun. Hes easy to fuse, has a lot of support skills, and he's just a ball of fun. xD
Helped me quite a but during the final battle.

It's probably because they removed 2/3's of the physical attacks; which made a lot of the physical strikes duplicates of each other. There were a few main characters and persona where they would unlock a physical attack that was no better than the one already unlocked, due to one was named after a Bash attack and another a Slash or pierce.

At least, the removal of all the different physical attacks made it easier for the AI to make better decisions. And they balanced it out by having Terakarn and that other Magic type karn being a single character activation, instead of a party one.

As for Persona... I tended to hang on to Succubus for a pretty long time. Mainly for her SP restoring ability had both 2 & 3 of that ability that start with an I, on her, and Spirit Drain. So, she was extremely useful in restoring SP for me.

For the um... December boss(es) I had an... I forget the name but it was Chariot arcana, with Dekaja, Amrita, Diarahan, Arms Master, null physical, and a severe physical attack... the pain was brought. Actually, now that I think about it I should go back and see just how fast I can beat those 2 to go on more Christmas dates...

I held onto a Cybele for a really long time in the endgame that was all Garu and Dia skills. I ditched Yosuke early on so I had to keep a wind attacker just in case...

Past a point I really started getting into physical attacks alot more than in P3 because of the difficulty in getting SP restored... although I did get the fox up to rank 7 which helped quite a bit. Physical attacks seem to be alot more useful in alot more circumstances than P3 as well... not having to worry about slash/strike/pierce, either.

It's a lot easier to collect persona in number four, because your not tempted by bonus exp, money or weapons lol. So far for me it's hard to say for P4, but in P3 Seth was pro. I had Thanatos, and the max fool S.link guy (can't remember his name). While I was fighting Nyx I found myself using Seth for the entire fight. O.o;

It was sorta strange in that my final three really useful personas in P4 were basically the same as in P3... and I don't think that I really did that intentionally, since I operate on a "survival of the fittest" routine after persona fusion orgies.

My top three in December were the fully powered up threesom of:

Siegfried (status effect support and physical attacks)
Firey Praying Mantis Priestess (can't recall her name) in P4; Tatiana in P3 (healing)
Surt (agidyne and ragnarok)

for me it was siegfried with arms master, mediarahan etc. .... all the way to the final boss... also ishtar with null physical, victory cry, etc. and the ever-useful Odin.

i didn't like that titania was so low-leveled...

and

atlus, don;t ever screw susano-o's image like u did this time LOL i missed the awsome susano-o from P3 and instead we got... well you know what' im talking about. loki's image change was favorable , though...

It's probably because they removed 2/3's of the physical attacks; which made a lot of the physical strikes duplicates of each other. There were a few main characters and persona where they would unlock a physical attack that was no better than the one already unlocked, due to one was named after a Bash attack and another a Slash or pierce.I'm pretty sure nearly every Phys attack has at least something to differentiate it, be it better/worse accuracy, slightly better/worse damage, better/worse crit rate, number of hits, % health drained, added status, etc. The in-game description just doesn't give those details so it's hard to tell.

Don't take me word on that, but I'm pretty sure I saw a list of all the effects somewheres and all the amounts were different.

atlus, don;t ever screw susano-o's image like u did this time LOL i missed the awsome susano-o from P3 and instead we got... well you know what' im talking about. loki's image change was favorable , though... What are you talking about? The Blade collar and flame hair are awesome! Much better than mostly-naked guy with antlers and sword.

I think I've liked most of the redesigns, probably because it's better IMO than seeing the SAME ones over and over from game to game. When I saw that Loki got redesigned for once I just about yelled "FINALLY".

And to make the mods happy and stay on topic for at least part of my post, I generally got the most use out of the special fused personas, due to their large list of resistances, with few/none weaknesses. Personas like Neko Shogun, Tam Lin, and Trumpeter made life very easy, since enemies had a hard time even DAMAGING me when I was equipped with them. In fact, if I hadn't had to fuse Mind Charge to him, I could have gotten Null Phys on my Trumpeter which would have made him immune to everything but Fire and Wind, which would have been MONEY.

Also, once I got Succubus it was all over. You never run out of SP again. Spirit Drain and Invigorate 3 are game-breakers. I eventually passed them both up to a Sui-Ki, and he's been doing similar good work for me. Now that he's about to learn Enduring Soul, I'll probably see if I can't pass all three skills onto something even better, hopefully with more resistances.

Kohryu was cool!: mediarahan, matarujaka, dekaja, maziodyne, elec amp, no weakness and null light and repel elec.
Scathach was my attacker: Mabufudyne, Garudyne, ice amp, wind amp.
In my second playthrough, I'm definitly gonna get the secret persona Izanagi-okami.

Ongyo-Ki is a cross fusion between the other three Ki bros. and Oni. Requires level 87 or 89 if I recall.

in p3, i had a helel that had megidolaon, morning star, agidyne, and some support ability that recovered all my hp and sp at the end of the battle...i wish i could have transferred him over.
the two persona's that kept me going till the end were black frost, with a magic 20 higher than it should be, fire amp, magic charge and agidyne. dealt 700 damage to bosses. then after that, i had tam lin. enduring soul is such an awesome ability. plus he had uber strength.

Around mid-game it was Neko Shogun for me, I managed to fuse him with null wind to make up for his weakness, he was somewhat of a tank in support. I used him more to support my teammates in the boss battles.

Where I am right now, it's Trumpeter. He has either Drain/Null/Reflect on every magic element (including light and dark), I could of put Null Physical on him too to make him impervious to anything (except megi-), but with all the fusing I had been doing throughout the game, I got a bit lazy. I will go back eventually and fuse that null physical as well. He's definitely one of the strongest Personas in the game.

Black Frost was by far my MVP Persona. Two absorbs, one repel, and no weaknesses are just icing on top of the super early Mind Charge + Fire Amp + Agidyne/Maragion cake. I don't think I've had any others that come close, though I did have a Principality with almost all the elements that got a lot of use, and Trumpeter looks extremely good.

Probably as of right now (1st Playthrough)

Tam Lin (Deathbound, Evade Physical, Enduring Soul, Power Charge, Ziodyne, Auto-'something' Mahamaon)

Black Frost (Masukunda, Agidyne, Mind Charge, marakaja,(sp?) maragion, mabufula, zio, mudoon)

Raphael (Mediarahan, Megidola, "Ailment Cure-all", Hamaon, Masukaja and 3 other skills)

All of them are Lv.63~65

And yes, this most likely being the "noobiest" post in this thread after viewing everyone else's choices and setups.

Melchedizek would up being my savior. Spirit Drain, Rakunda, Tarunda, no weaknesses.

Beyond that, Trumpeter(Mind Charge + Debilitate), Odin(highest Mag stat in the group), Alice(everything dies), Daisoujou(everything else dies), and Belial(Maragidyne + Fire Boost + Fire Amp: everything burns).

I went for some of the same ones I had around Persona 3's end-game, and they didn't disappoint:

Surt (Null Ice and Physical, High Counter, Fire Amp + Ragnarok/Maragidyne, Deathbound, Masukukaja)
Hariti (Diarahan, Mediarahan, Samarecarm, Amrita, Marakukaja and Masukukaja, Bufudyne, Magarudyne)

I couldn't quite get Alice or Daisoujou like before. Seth came to be helpful though, similar to Hariti but more focused on Garu skills.

Maybe in my next playthough, I'll try to go for some of the higher-level ones. I didn't have Persona with skills like Victory Cry and stuff like that. I was also so focused on -kaja skills that I completely forgot about -kunda ones. :/

Call me whatever, but I love to spend hours perfecting the top two of each arcana, as well as any persona I like by appearance.
In P3- my best was
Lucifer- with Victory Cry, Spell Master, and all the wanted Absorbs/Repel to cover any attack. Later I switched out Spell Master for Die for Me, when I got the halved SP-cost accessory.

I loved how I could throw out the 9999-damage combo of Armageddon (with Satan on the bench) twice per battle (which was 9999 too much) and not need to heal at all; During the fight with Jin and Takaya, Jin gets annoyed if you had made an immune-to-all persona, and starts using his Almighty skills.

In P4 (on topic lol)- I haven't beaten it yet, but that's probably because I'm doing things like transferring higher attacks and anti-wind to Izunagi, and making ridiculously effective skill assignments such as
Belial- Mamudoon, Maragidyne, Absorb Fire, Ali Dance,
Angelic Grace, Victory Cry, Myriad Arrows.

Trumpeter was an amazing asset once I got him. I put Null Physical on him which made him my go-to Persona since was he null/repel to almost everything. The only time I don't use him is if I must have two healers (hasn't happened since Yukiko got mediarahan) or if I want Yukiko attacking.

Trumpeter:

Null Physical
Mind Charge
Megidolaon
Cool Breeze
Debilitate
Heat Riser
Ziodyne
Mamudoon or Mamudo (I forgot which one)

Debilitate and Heat Riser were VERY useful. Cool Breeze was great for grinding. Between Cool Breeze and Rise, I never needed to use the Fox.

(2nd Playthrough)

Helel Lv. 93 Maragidyne, Magarudyne, Maziodyne, Spell Master, Salvation, God's Hand, Repel Wind and Megidolaon (Replaced by Morning Star)

Scathach Lv.84 Mabufudyne, Magarudyne, Wind Amp, Ice Amp, Spell Master, Mind Charge, Mahamaon and Amrita.

Lucifer Lv.98 (Once he gets Victory Cry, he's getting fused.)
Yoshi -> Hassou Tobi. Nuff' said.

Shiva (Enduring Soul + Other Skills)
Ishtar (Samarecarm + Other Heals)
Trumpeter (3 Ma-kaja skills + H.R and Debilitate)
Black Frost (He just awesome, I couldn't bear to part with him.:D)

I mainly used Ishtar, was able to level/fuse her so she had:

Null Physical, Absorb Wind, Spell Master, Mediarahan, Salvation, whatever the tier 2 rez is, Maziodyne, and Rakunda.

I'm not the best when it comes to fusing/finding personas, so I never had a Norn for Deliberate, Trumpeteer for the team buffs, or yositsune for power charge + hax

I'm working towards getting a Yoshi with these skills:

Arms master
Hassou tobi
Power charge
Debilitate
Cool Breeze
Enduring Soul
Megidolaon
Salvation

I'm not sure if I want Cool Breeze on him. It's great for dungeon crawling, but against a boss, it's not helpful. I'm tempted to replace it with Maziodyne or keep Ziodyne (I'd have four elements on my team with Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko). I figure the Enduring Soul can take care of any Dark spells that hit me. They may kill me once with it, but I doubt they'll be able to get it twice before I can act.

This set-up is going to take a lot of prep to adjust the skill inheritance to make this set-up more favorable.

My personas are quite basic. Yeah, very basic, but enough to beat the game on EXPERT, 1st playthrough.
Trumpeter with deabilitate. (and others skills, but deabilitate's the most important)
Loki with Mind Charge, Ice boost, Ice AMP, Mabufudyne and the ultimate ice skill.
With those, I was able to defeat anyone who got in my way. o/
I was really looking foward to create Lucifer, but didn't have the patience to level up. Who knows on my 2nd playthrough... =D

Trumpeter: Debilitate

Yo****sune: Matarukaja + Power charge + Hassoi Tobi= 2500 ave damage.

Helel: For enduring soul. Very effective, if you don't have unfinished testimony for the secret boss.

Izanagi-no-okami: lvl 95 with 95plus all stats and victory cry.

Ugh. I tried fusing Yoshi with 5 select moves. After about 10 minutes, I saw that wasn't happening. More time passes, I'll accept 4 select moves. Over an hour of fusing other Personas to help: I'll go with 3 good moves. The end result isn't what I really wanted, but here it is:

Yoshi:

Hassou Tobi (well it's brave blade for now)
Power Charge
Debilitate
Enduring Soul
Matarukaja
Ali Dance
Arms Master
Mahamaon

What I really wanted:

Hassou Tobi
Power Charge
Debilitate
Enduring Soul
Cool Breeze
Ali Dance
Arms Master
Null Dark: Please Reaper don't make me regret missing this too much. I figure I'll depend on Ali Dance and Enduring Soul until it hits me with one dark spell. Then I'll switch to another member.

Here's another go-to Persona

Alice

Die for Me! (I love the name)
Mudo Boost
Dekunda
Spell Master
Magarudyne
Null Light
Angelic Grace (I think the move suits the Persona)
Megidola

Since I'm bored, I'll also add my new Ishtar

Salvation
Spell Master
Maragidyne
Megidolaon
Mabufudyne
Absorb Wing
Magarudyne
Maziodyne

Edit: Wow. Hassou Tobi really is THAT powerful.

I say, all personas were good. But for final boss well kinda all game I used Black Frost. I mean he learns Mind charge + Power charge or some like dat and after dat use Agidyne I pretty much took around 500 - 600 HP out of the boss. I was playing 2 roles tho. I was healer sometimes and atcker. My main healer was Amagi. She did Salvation and Mediaraham or some like dat, I was pretty much save with those skills. For me it wasent a hard battle, in fact I was specting the battle to be more chalenging dan the P3 last Boss. Well Nyx Avatar or Elizabeth, but oh well. Game was wow but P3 is super wow. In anycase xD I guess I got out of the story. All I needed to say is I used Black Frost as my main Persona.

In Persona 3, it'll be Odin of course, with it's Elec Amp and Thunder Reign + spell master, I even beat the reaper with Odin in my Persona 3, but in Persona 4, I guess I liked my Black frost, it has got Fire Amp, Mind charge an Maragidyne! Combine that 3, and we'll see a fireworks then!

Her skills are:

Ziodyne
Maziodyne
Samarecarm
Mediarahan
Amrita
Spell Master
Bufudyne

And I forgot the rest. But those are my major assets. Especially since I 5 shotted Shadow Kanji with em.

Well my name says it all doesn't it?

Neko Shogun stuck with me until the very end. Usually used him against bosses.

I would use Rakunda in the first round.
Then Matarakuja the next.

Anything goes after that. Chie really benefited from that later on when she had Power Charge and God Hand. So asome.

Mediarama and that skill that doubles it's healing is great for emergency situations when you're low on SP.

Yeah I only just fused Trumpeter for the Margaret S. Link and he's pretty tight. Vishnu's Almighty is pretty strong to, Isis' Cool Breeze is pretty helpful to, I'm leveling up to get Helel cuz he's the one I've been wanting. Yoshi(t)sune is definitely a great one though even without having established the Tower arcana when I fused him, next time around I fuse him he'll be tight. Yatsufusu isn't half bad either. I have to get the Hermit S. Link next play through cuz I only got to level 7 with the Fox and I want Ognyo-ki. I'm also wanting Zaou-Gongen I'm only at like 85 now though.

i have 3 most useful persona

1.For Hunting: my Alice with skill "Die For Me" is really usefull for a quick kill.
2.For Healing: I used ishtar with "Spell Master" which make only 15sp required for
Diarahan and 20sp for salvation. she also have auto-matarukaja
3.For Damage: i used Futsunushi with combo "Power Charge" + "Primal Force"

Odin is also one of my favorite personas, possibly the best one in fighting the bosses. I really agree "Mind Charge+Panta Rhei " is really awesome.

Here are some of my favorite personas

My Odin
------------------------------------------------------------------
Phanta Phei
Magarudyne
Maziodyne
Repel Fire
Maragidyne
Repel Physical
Wind Amp
Mind Charge
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That persona carries three element-skills with "Mind Charge", and two Repel affinities. It's readlly great

My Surt
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Agidyne
Deathbound
Null Ice
Maragidyne
Repel Physical
Fire Amp
Spell Master
Ragnarok
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Scathach
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mabufudyne
Maragidyne
Spell Master
Wind Amp
Maziodyne
Repel Fire
Ice Amp
Magarudyne
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one hits all elements with spell master, Wind Amp, and Ice Amp, and also overcome her weak affinity to fire

My You####sune
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brave Blade
Power Charge
Arms Master
Blade of Fury
Victory Cry
Absorb Wind
Hassou Tobi
Heat Riser
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is great for physical attacks.

My Metatron
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mahamaon
Heaven's Blade
Repel Dark
Null Wind
Null Physical
Repel Elec
Megidolaon
Repel Ice
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is an ultimate blocker who nullifies or reflects any attack except Almighty
Pitifully he is not very powerful. Powerful charge or Mind charge is needed

I used three Personae for the entirety of the game pretty much.

Sarasvati, Succubus, and Trumpeter. I maxed all of my S. Links in my first playthrough, so that's why I used the first two. I'd use different Personae for the bosses, but other than that those were only ones I used outside of the bosses. And then I used Trumpeter for nearly every boss at the end of the game once I leveled up enough to fuse him. Debilitate ftw.

These three personae you are using sounds kinda new to me. I am curious about what skills these personae have. Would you mind telling us?

In my first playthrough, I didn't max up all my social links, bust I still fused some powerful personae like Odin, Yoshisune, Helel, and Alice. One of my most useful personae might be Youshisune with Arms Master, Hassou Tobi, and Victory Cry.

In my second playthrough, I chose Expert game level. Youshisune defeats almost every emenies and bosses through the entire game. Few ones can stand Power Charge+heat rise and Hassou Tobi.

Sarasvati has Invigorate 2 + all four elements. Succubus has Spirit Drain, Invigorate 3, and Cool Breeze and the ability to have all 4 elements + Megidola. And Trumpeter has Cool Breeze + Heat Riser / Debilitate.

Woo, You must have spent tons of time and yens doing the fusions so that your Sarasvati and Succubus hit four-element plus Megidola. Invigorate serial spells help you regain some SP every turn of the battle. In additon, heat riser and Debilitate work every well on the party and on the foe. In one of the Youtube cutscenes, Debilitate is casted against strong bosses, like Margaret and final boss. It does work well. These bosses are hit off more than 300 hps. Debilitate is indeed a very useful spell against strong foes.

To me, I feel four-element spells do not contribute to great dmp without Amp spells, mind charge, debilitate, and attack-up spells. Besides making all-element personae like Scathach, I also fused Odin (Wind Amp+Phanta Phei) for wind attack, Thor(Elec+Thunder Reign) for Elec attack, Surt(Fire Amp+Ragnarok) for fire attack, and Loki(Ice Amp,Niflheim) for ice attack. Of these personae, Odin causes the greatest dmp to the foe with mind charge.

Recently I prefer physcial attack and Almighty attack, so I fused Yoshisute( Hassou Tobi+power charge), and Helel(Morning Star+Mind charage). Yoshisute is probably the most powerful persona hitting the boss an amazing chunk of HP in one turn. However, Helel's Morning Star disappoints me. Morning star plus mind charge contributes to less dmp than Alice's Megidolaon alone. How come? Statan's Black Viper does not great look either.

That also sounds good. Tam Lin has several resist affinity. What spells does he have for attacks? Your kikur-hime has supportive spells, and Lilith has severe Elec skill for elemental attacks..

But it seems that your personae's level could be higher.

For me, I fuse a Trumpeter with mind charge, repel physical, Megidolaon, heat riser, debiliate, spell master.. For Harati, I made a hit 4-elemental one, with "spell master", "Magarudyne", "Maziodyne", "Mabufudyne", and "Maragidyne"

I wonder if my personas would make bosses cry, but I think they should suffice against most ones.

My most useful ones were Cu Chulainn, Raphael, Sraosha and Loki.

Cu Chulainn had Mind Charge, which I often used in conjunction with Loki's Amped Bufudyne, and he also has Matarukaja.

Raphael has Mediarahan, Amrita, Megidola and Rakunda. I often used him for healing.

Sraosha has Power Charge-> Brave Blade. Instant Win.

And as mentioned above, Loki has Bufudyne and Mabufudyne, as well as Ice Amp.

In this game, Oni is an absolute BEAST. He's provides an early Phys resistance with NO weaknesses, good stats, some great abilities for the point that you have access to him...and if I remember right, he even learns "Resist Phys" to pass on to other Persona.

I used the hell out of him, for a very long stretch of the game.

It's the protagonist from "Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga".

Trumpeter isn't a level 30 persona. :p

At level 30, Oni resists phys, nulls fire, has no weaknesses, has a Strength of 25, an Endurance of 26, and learns Power Charge and Resist Phys (also has/learns Counter and Endure, which aren't that great in P4, but I'll take them). This, of course, doesn't account for any skills he inherits from fusion.

I honestly don't think there's a more useful Persona in P4 (in relation to their levels, of course).

Mine would have to be Odin. I have him with Thunder Reign, Spell master, elec boost, elec amp, plus an indra bracer and his Gungnir spear equipped. Thunder reign ends up doing 850 to Nyx, unless Nyx is on the arcana that blocks elec attacks. It took me one turn per arcana (besides Death) since each has 1500 hp and I leave 650, which is shaved off my Mitsura and Akihiko. I plan on trying to fuse on mind charge for him though. I also use a lot of Surt with Fire Amp and Fire Boost, as well as mind charge. My main personae are fairly basic compared to everybody elses, but they are useful nonetheless. I'm also playing P3: FES, so I'm going to fuse a Helel with Victory Cry.

Titania that had all ma-skills and a kusi mitami with all 2'nd tier spells helped considerably early on when every enemy has a weakness I could exploit it. this made for habbits that developed into Ishtar saving me, with half the MP for seven slots of spell I was constantly casting, I don't I would have liked another persona better. MomoChan, yet me just say that those are AMAZING. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into those, specifically creating them to have very specific and valuable roles while not completely overshadowing the other, and you deserve a pat on the back.

As for me, well, I'm not sure if I remember specifically, since I beat the game a second time a while ago (and probably won't remember all 8 skills), but...

Belial:
Null Light
Maragidyne
Agidyne
Fire Amp
Spell Master
Mamudoon
Arrow Rain
Fire Boost(?)

Kin-ki:
Blade of Fury
Arms Master
Power Charge
Apt. Pupil

Undine:
Mabufula
Bufula
Mabufu
Diarama
Mediarama
Armita
Ice Boost
Repel Fire

Triglav:
Blade of Fury
Apt. Pupil
Repel Elec

Sui-ki:
Mabufudyne
Bufudyne
Ice Amp
Deathbound
Absorb Fire

Kohryu:
Maziodyne
Ziodyne
Spell Master
Salvation
Elec Boost
Elec Amp
Elec Break

Cu Chulainn:
Magarula
Garudyne
Matarukaja
Mind Charge
Null Elec
Absorb Ice
Deathbound

Tam Lin:
Victory Cry
Blade of Fury
Tempest Slash
Enduring Soul
Auto-Maraku
Power Charge

That's all I can remember. Some of them (such as Undine and Triglav) got replaced by others who could do the job better (like Sui-ki and Kin-ki). I had stereotypical sets too like Tri-Norn and Trumpeter, but I try to steal clear of those really broken guys (especially Yoshi-tsune). Though looking at everyone else, I feel a bit insignificant in creativity and practical uses for my Persona. Oh well.

Thanks. I had an idea of what I needed thanks to prior experience with Nocturne and P3, but the Personae who were to be given the skills came later. I originally wanted mostly mid- to low-tiers with modded skills, but I had to let a few other higher ups in for the sake of practicality (not to mention my sanity... these things don't fuse themselves, after all).
