I just wanted to make this thread since I just found out that IGN just did a review for this game and you guys are not going to believe what score it got. Here is the Link.

Just proved my point even more
IGN suck

That's MUCH lower than I'd give it, but some of the reviewers complaints I do agree with. Like weak characters just lagging behind always, with no quick/simple way to level them up. And not being able to open up my menu unless I'm in the Inn... that annoyed me a lot.

Doesn't surprise me. IGN is a terrible game review website, and they regularly give ludicrous scores to games for no reason (IE: Godhand gets a 3 while Imagine Babiez Party gets a 7.5)

I generally try not to concen myself with them.

Edit: That was strange.

Speaking of IGN, I saw a review actually get pulled for Soccer Manager '09 because of reader feedback. People were completely infuriated over the reviewers lack of understanding of what the game was supposed to be.

Maybe I will dig up that link.

Hmm... I'm sure they pulled it for other reason if it was pulled. I mean, they got plenty of static from Shadow Hearts Fan, God Hand Fans, and The Last Remnant and nothing came of it. In fact they even posted this article, which only tells me that they've lost complete touch of Japanese style games and have swung towards Xbox/PC style of games.

I agree more with this GoldDragon353 guy that responded to that article...
And Persona 4 hit all those marks, I might add...

Geez... That was harsh... O_o;

It's not ZOMG best game evar!!, but it's definitely not deserving of a score that low. I'm inclined to agree on the music score (except the ending song - looooove that song), but I enjoyed the story.

Oh well, can't please everyone.

@ Gen Eric Gui: Good Lord... The whole "Imagine" series needs to just die in a fire. Repeatedly.

Uh, no. They pulled it for the reason I stated. Read it for yourself:

I'm pretty certain the amount of static generated by Shadow Hearts fans and God Hand fans is minimal compared to soccer fans world wide.

It struck me as funny that they would mention Mass Effect as an example of a game with "good" towns. As far as I remember there is only the one, which doesn't really have a lot of living characters, but rather quest specific ones that say one thing, play their part and never really do anything again.

I would mention maybe Witcher or Oblivion as examples of towns that actually feel realistic, but then those have issues of their own. That article (and the review) do read as if they are reviewing the game against their ideal of what the perfect game is based on their tastes, instead of against itself and other games in its category.

Well, that review lost me a LOT of respect for PS2 IGN, I think (Have yet to get the game, but by looking at metacritic for a while and opinions here, I can certainly say a 3.5 sounds REALLY off).
However, I still find IGN to work great on Nintendo platforms, but outside of that it seems to get rather iffy.

Well, I'll still bet it was more Sega's doing than the actual, readers.
Funny that they apologies to Sega, first...

^Maybe, maybe not. Judging by some of the U.K. based gaming forums I check, people were pretty irked.

They acknowledged the feedback before they apologized to Sega.

I'm convinced that IGN is compelled to severely lowball niche games to attempt some sort of karmic balance for fellating big-name games.

Oh dear, that was almost as bad as their Shadow Hearts review.
