i thought that battle was easy i used a hysterical slap or something like that i took like 8 turns and i didnt even worry bout the prince

^ It seemed to me that the prince would heal again if I didn't get rid of him quick, but he only did once in each of my attempts. I wasn't ready to chance him healing again though. So I just kept him dizzy as much as I could, until he died. Plus I also got really lucky.

My first attempt she hit my Chie with the flame attack (dead), and then on her 2nd strike for the turn she got a critical hit on my Yosuke with double fang(dead), and then just killed me lol :(. Gotta love those SMT wtf moments.

Well, I haven't played the game just yet, but I think I'll go with Rise. I was torn between Rise and Yukiko, so I asked my friend his opinion, and he said he liked Rise. Of course, I'm not going to restrict myself to just one girl, so I'll probably end up dating Yukiko too. I think I'll just be friends with Chie, since she reminds me of Yukari's bad side(lvl 5 of Yukari's social link). I have forgiven Yukari, but I'm not sure what I'll be getting into if I date Chie. With the Persona series seeming more "edgy", coupling this with the fact that it was an option way back in Innocent Sin, it would be a nice thing to see. However, with the (straight) male being the predominant gamer, it's going to take a while...

Right now, I'm leaning more towards Yukiko more so than Chie and Yumi. Depending on how the s.link goes for Yumi, I might focus more so on her.I'm about to fight the boss for the third dungeon, (at least I think I'm on the third dungeon. Not too sure now.) so I'm waiting till the end of that.

Too bad there's no way to date other male characters. Then again, I would be sad because I would have to pick between them. Right now I'm crushing on Yosuke (similar to the rl boyfriend personality-wise) and Kanji (he's chuck norris awesome). I can't wait to see the events for Teddie's s.link. I think it's appropriate that his Arcana is the Star. :)

Didn't you get one on your first playthrough? Check your compendium and purchase it (inside the TV or in the central market south). Because they're pretty easy to get later on...

Well, I opted for the friends route for Yukiko and Chie. I went the typical route, and started a love connection with the pop-star, Rise. I found her obvious crush on the MC too irresistable. BTW, I was really upset at the beginning when I realized Rise would be the backup. I don't know, I'm just not a big fan of Teddy as a front-liner. He's a cool enough character though.

There is a huge hole in that though, Yukiko said she never been outside of Inaba in a social link interaction.

Anyways, im gonna try for naoto in my next runthrough, that is if I can even get naoto to get into a dress and stuff, which I didn't manage the first time. Anyone know if you just had to be really good in the mystery deductions during her social links?

hahaha yes that happened to me to, I was like oh snaps, even though it's like impossible to be just friends with a girl in this game without feeling like a jerkface. Like with Rise, she was crying and there was the option to hug her or leave her alone when she was crying. ok how could I NOT hug a crying girl, but that's just me.

Well, don't feel too bad Reem, I think it's fairly obvious from the start that Naoto is a girl. Her "manly" voice isn't very convincing.

I felt really bad picking the friends route with Yukiko, because she runs away in tears.

Interestingly, when I talked to Yumi at the end of the regular game (I'm working on the "true" ending), she teased the MC about running away from her when it was time to choose lover or friend.

Chie didn't seem effected.

I unfortunately didn't manage my time very well, so I never maxed out Naoto. I think I got up to Rank 3.

BTW, I've been slightly bothered by something where it concerns the relationships: Why is it automatically considered a romantic gesture in the games to hug the girls? I mean hugging someone is not always about wanting to be romantically involved. Hugging is a natural form of comforting someone who is really upset. I think for the next game they should have a kiss be the deciding factor.

The reason I say this is because after I became Rise's boyfriend, I maxed out Yumi (Sun/ Drama Club), and in the pivotal moment, she was standing there upset. She obviously needed a hug, but if had chosen that, it would've become a romance. Instead, I had to be a jerk and walk out on her in a time of need. They should have given you choices such as "Hug her to comfort her as a friend" or "Hold her to start a romantic relationship." I know that sounds kinda lame, but oh well, I had to say it.

Actually, here's a better Idea: You're about to max out a social link with a female character. The storyline involves some kind of crisis in which she begins to cry. You get the option to hug her or leave her alone. After you choose to hug her, you get a new message:

This is an important moment, after this there is no turning back.

Then you get a new set of choices:

Continue to hold her and comfort her

Lean in for a kiss

Then, based on the responses given in earlier scenes, the girl will then decide whether or not to become your lover, or to remain friends. The character could either let you down easy, or slap the taste out of your mouth.

At first I had a hard time choosing because I initially didn't have a very strong prefference for any of the girls as love interests. Eventually I ended up narrowing it down to Yukiko, Rise, and Naoto, but by rank 10 I was able to make a solid decision.

I picked Naoto. And for a number of reasons.

I'll just give you some of my main ones.

Reason #1: Not that I couldn't see the protagonist going out with Rise, but I don't think that their relationship would have worked out in the end anyway. At least not in the direction Rise's going by the end of the game. If you're at rank 10 with her by now, then you probably know what I mean (as she intends to go back to being an idol) . Plus, such a long-distance relationship probably wouldn't have ended well. Rise's career would make it even harder to contact the protagonist than any of the other girls. And then there's the issue of Souji having other other girls like Yukiko, Chie, Naoto, etc. to consider, and his personality. Especially if its being based on the persona 4 manga. The conflict concerning this complex of abandonmnet he has with everyone he meets and has to leave was something he was trying to get away from. So even if he did choose to return (which I think is highly likely and only a matter of time since IIRC, you need to voice that you don't want to leave Inaba in order to get the true ending) she wouldn't really be around anyway, and I don't think he'd have coped well with her leaving if she were his girlfriend.



Reason #2: At first I was more of a Kanji/Naoto supporter, but after maxing out both characters and taking the Group Date Cafe mini-game during the culture festival, my faith in the pairing kind of waned. Naoto doesn't seem like the kind of character who wants to date someone whose primary interest is in her facade. From what was displayed early in her S-Rank, Naoto implied she wanted someone who took the time to understand her, and accept her for who she was. Kanji on the other hand was intrigued on the basis of something completely opposite. He subtly voiced that part of Naoto's intriuge to him was the fact she was mystery. However what happens when that "mystery's" solved? And what about Naoto? Unfortunately for Kanji, I think if she knew the basis of his feelings, she probably wouldn't have seen him as much different as those other girls/guys who gave her love letters and proclaimed their love for her without even knowing her.


Reason #3: I guess this was more or less of a personal thing but I liked how Naoto made an active effort to try to get to know who Souji was as a character. The other girls didn't really seem to do that, and I guess for me that was a turn off, and what finally sealed the deal for me by the time the Christmas event came. Plus, the duality of Naoto's character, trying to be collected while inwardly shy and easily flustered was an intertaining thing for me to watch.

It wasn't that her personality couldn't stand out as much as it was the fact that it didn't fair so well when she interacted in particular with the protagonist. She just seemed...kinda generic as a love interest. Yeah, I think that's the word I'm looking for. IMO, her personality shined a lot more when she was facing off with Yosuke.

You do have a point. Just because two characters are opposite doesn't mean they'll work out. However, I think that in Yosuke and Chie's case, they have more similarities to their characterizations than they do differences. They're both very easygoing and generally amiable, but what's more important here is the fact that their values don't seem to diverge too much.

Opposites technically CAN attract to one another, and people are often interested in that kind of dynamic because they enjoy what personality traits are brought out through interacting with those characters. People have this tendency to think that because two characters are extremely opposite, it'll provide more opportunities for certain aspects of characterization to arise, and in some cases that's true. However, one the problems I've always had with those kind of dynamics is that when limitations aren't placed, they tend to cheapen the other characters because the couple in question are designed to compensate for every aspect their partner lacks.

Anyway, people also fail to realize that whether or not opposites actually stay together depends a lot on their values. If they can't find any common ground or compromise within their core values, then it'd be very difficult to maintain let alone keep a relationship intact. Yosuke and Chie...don't seem to have that kind of problem, so the possibility of a pair-up between them doesn't really bother me.

I think it's due to the fact that even without Social Links Rise is the only girl that ends up falling in love with the MC, or just liking him. Then again, that's just my assumption.

I really wish that there were consequences or some restrictions for dating multiples girls. As much as I liked that relationships were tied to the s.links, it really ruined the emotional impact of when I knew that I had to cheat on multiple women to get the Ultimate persona of that s.link

I basically started an intimate relationship with Yukiko, Chie, Yumi, Rise, and Naoto not because I wanted the M.C. to be a player, but I wanted to see how difficult it was to maintain said intimate relationship(s).

This was of course, before I found out that if you refuse to date on a Sunday, then you won't have to worry about S.Links degrading or any of that sort... so I was able to have intimate relationships with any of the girls mentioned above.

I think though that, in hindsight, I'd probably focus more on Ai because she's a lot closer to who I was in high school (personality wise) compared to the other girls in the game - so I can most certainly relate to what she's going through.

The following were my conquests in chronological order: Yukiko, Rise, Chie, Yumi. I'm working on my fifth but I doubt I'll get it in time. I was planning to stick with Yukiko at first, but Rise came at me pretty unexpectedly and she had grown on me. And after that, well... ... :devil:

My strategy was always to stop SLinking for a while if one girl got too close while I was targetting another, and to always try to max my current target ASAP, to minimize the window for conflict. I'd say it worked pretty well. ;)

Not to worry, I felt the same way as you did... In my original data (before it's lost!!!) I only have 1 girlfriend, the one and only Naoto!!! But, after I begged for my friend's data (You know that right?) My friend already make Yukiko as his girlfriend, but I can't stand not to be with Naoto, so in this data... I have two girlfriends, even though 1 of it is obviously against my will...:(

Personally, each of the girls has her own appeal. I'm a big Rise fan but all the girls are each a good catch. I can see myself playing this game several times and getting each girl at least once.

I guess its one thing to think a character has appeal. But just because you like that character or find them at the very least interesting in a way, doesn't mean that you'd automatically enjoy how they interact with another character. Heck I like Kanji a lot as a character too, doesn't mean I'll automatically be a Kanji/Naoto supporter. For people, some characters interact and form dynamics that are more entertaining to them than others.

I implore you give it a chance nonetheless, lol. Truthfully, I wasn't so sure about her in the beginning myself, but Naoto grew on me later when I developed her S.Rank more.

Also, in Japan its not really rude not to hold a girl as she cries. At least not last I heard, so for their players it might not have been as hard to reject the gesture. Silently giving a person their space as they cry and express their weaknesses in this sense is also way of being respectful of their feelings, so Rise wouldn't have held it against you.

Dude! The pigtails alone won me over!! C'mon, she's got these really cute pigtails! Rise just has a really cute atmosphere about her.

Naoto on the other hand, has this mysterious allure to her. I don't know how to really put it. I'm not far enough to really describe it well. I'm going for Rise for the first play through, but I might go the Naoto route on 2nd play through.

I went for Rise most in my first playthrough, now I concentrate a lot more on Naoto (since I'm a douche and failed to Max her before havig to fight the Big Bad). Hers is the only female Ending (along with Ai's) I haven't seen yet.

H-well I was so all over Yukiko throughout the game... until Rise showed up. Her voice, her smile, her dramatic moodswings... who can not love a girl like that? Seriously, she does have the most natural and pleasant voice acting in the game, that's 70% the reason why I'll be all over her on the second play. Chose Yukiko on this playthrough after all because I'd feel bad giving her ideas and then run off to another girl, plus she still is a big nr. 2 in my book. 3rd would be Naoto.

On my first playthrough I first did Yumi, and then Yukiko because I just couldn't say no to that sweet girl even though I had decided to just have one girlfriend. And then Rise was too charming- I love it when people idolize you like that. And then Ai... She was so much better of a person than what I had thought of her.

In the second playthrough, my goal was to date every female team member. I tell you, it did hurt to say no to cute Ayane, she was so innocent :(
Chie doesn't feel quite right as a girlfriend though, she's much more of a bro. But she still has her moments...

I chose Yukiko first because I think she pairs up well with the main character (shouji). But in terms of appearance I'd go for Chie, i think she's the prettiest among girls. Nice english dubbing, too.
