Well, I got screwed out of my artbook by my local EB games here in Vancouver. Is there anything that can be done about this? I know I'm not the only one who was promised something and never got it. So, Atlus if your listening. Can you tell me who I should contact or what can be done, if anything? I'm sure most people here are like me and have been Atlus fans for a long time, so anybody else who feels cheated please post it here, and we'll see if we can get this figured out.

I guess the first thing I would suggest is contact your GS District Manager. Other people seem to have had success with that.

Thanks I'll give it a shot.

I bought an art book off of ebay for a reasonably cheap price. Then my EB actually called me up (next day) saying that UPS had found the box of art books (which they lost originally) and that they will be in tomorrow.

*********************
IF i get my 2nd art book from EB tomorrow, im willing to sell one of the art books to fans who want it for about 20$.
*********************
PM me if you are interested, first come first serve considering i only POTENTIALLY have 1 extra. I would love to give it away for free but i bought it on ebay for 30$, so i think 20$ is a reasonable asking price. If you have finacial issues, we can work around it.

Yeah, got screwed here in Vancouver too. I came in 2 hours after EB called in to say they had it, and I just missed the last artbook copy. I preorder it months ago too.

Just saying another Canadian also did not get it :( They said they will look into it but I doubt it.

Wow. A lot of problems with EB Games in Canada. o_O;
Do what Eternal Sin did and get one cheap off eBay.
Or constantly harass your nearby store.

My local GS screwed up (surprise surprise) and I've decided to stop caring. I mean, yeah it's a nice collectible but what I really like out of the Artbook is the art. If the Internet can deliver that to me, I'll take it that way.
And knowing my house it'd prolly get lost and be found in the worst condition possible.

IF i get my 2nd art book from EB tomorrow, im willing to sell one of the art books to fans who want it for about 20$.

There's no way in hell I'm paying $20 for something I should be getting for absolutely nothing.
Just thought I'd let you know in case you wonder why nobody buys it. (Who'm I kidding? Everyone's going crazy over that thing.)

I just called EB games customer service, and they say that I'll probably get one in the mail. I just wish they could guarantee me since I should already have the damn thing. Anyways thanks for the tip Kakizaki. We'll see if it works out.

Man there are a lot of you guys having problems in Vancouver. It really makes me wonder what would happen if all of you collectively complained to the DM.

haha i know what you mean FangzV. I honestly want to give it away for free because i think everyone here is entitled to an art book and should have one. If you guys think 20$ is too much then im willing to negotiate the price, no problem. :) I just want to make up a bit of money to counter a 36$ loss. If i had a job i'd give it away for free, but unfortunately thats not the case right now :(

I know the guy's name because one of my friends used to work for EB. Apparently he's a real piece of work, so I don't know if he would do anything. If I had his e-mail I would just e-mail him directly and advise others to do the same, but I can't find it. All I can recommend is to call customer service. It sucks, but a maybe is better than a no.

Yeah I will call to complain.

But I'm thinking if I don't get the artbook I will return it and order it from Amazon.ca. It is $35 CDN there and ebgames ripped us off by increasing the price from $40 to $50. The dollar didn't drop that much to justify an almost 25% increase.

I know the economy sucks and there's a cash crunch on, but if I could have just gotten the artbook today without having to wait for it to ship/wasting time calling EB everyday/making the bus trip MULTIPLE times I really couldn't give 6 farts about 10 bucks. I would just buy a book off somebody, but now I have a "probably" from EB and I have to wait a couple weeks to see if one comes in the mail. Boo-urns!

Oh by the way. If anybody is calling EB games then I would advise against raging out or being rude. It's not the person on the phone's fault, and the guy I talked to did help my chances of getting one considerably. As he put it "for being so cool".

Well my EB shorted me (although I did only pre-order from them a couple weeks ago). They only got 6 artbooks for their 18 pre-orders, and before I got there half of their pre-orders were already picked up :bs: So yeah I left my copy there hoping they'll get more (unlikely). Now heres hoping Amazon.ca comes through. That seems equally unlikely, seeing as they ####ed me with Eternal Poison, and my Luminous Arc 2 STILL HASN'T shipped out...

Its not much consolation, but I have 2 extras Im willing to trade off (because Id rather improve my own collection too, win-win). Since the GS near me had little preorders and a whole box of the artbooks, the manager let me snag a few.

That sounds exactly like my eb, and my situation. Oakridge center?

Going to call them to check once in a while, but not high expectations.

Wow, I can't believe 18 people actually preordered Persona 4 at the same place.

That sucks when you don't get what you paid for. I had something similar happen to me. I was supposed to get Dead Space on a wednesday but they lost the package then they said Thursday and they lost it again, I didn't get it till Tuesday. As much as I love the Persona series I wouldn't (as FangzV said) oay again for something I should've gotten.

Yep it was Oakridge. I'm going to cancel my pre-order though, as I now have an artbook :D I'm going to send you and Tron a PM seeing as you're both Vancouverites, maybe you'll have some luck too ;)

You bought the artbook? Actually, I'm not awed at just that, I'm also awed at the fact that this game is going for more than the MSRP price. Are people just impulsive or could they not wait an extra couple days before complaining about it? Dang, I am tempted to sell my shipment if they're selling on ebay for $60+...

I would like to buy an artbook of eBay but I hate paypal with a passion if only google checkout was available in there. Them people refused to take out the old info on my expired credit card and I am unable to purchase anything in there because most people want to be paid through paypal.

Well, my artbook's cover was scrunched on the top corner, but at least I got mine. It was packaged pretty well, attached to a cardboard backing by one of those plastic wraps. All of that was inside of a bigger box, which was undamaged. So the book was damaged before it was shipped...

But whatever, I'm not going to complain about a free handout. At least I know our problems are being heard.

Let me add to the chorus of disappointed Vancouverites (specifically Coquitlam Centre: 8 books for 30 preorders).

You guys said that contacting the district manager might help. Can someone PM me with the appropriate contact?

I also called Lougheed Mall just for kicks to see if they have any. No luck.

Well seeing as you're another Vancouverite, and Maoz and Tron have had plenty of time to check their PM I may as well say this openly. The 8th & Cambie Gamestop had more books than preorders (I'm not sure quite how many, at most 4), if you give em a call and rush in today (they close at 8 I think) you might get lucky. Their number is 604-874-1080 :)

I called and they said they're out.
Although it would have been a bitch for me to drive out there and back just for an artbook anyways.

Yeah I can see that. Driving all the way out from Coquitlam on a day when the threat of snow drove traffic nuts may not have been worth it. It coulda taken a couple hours, at which point you may as well just work those hours and snag it off eBay ^^

Same here with Oakridge. But I was the 7th person. Ugh its worse when you just missed the game and watch as the other guy get the artbook in front of you. So close. Other than that, I was cool with it. Not sure if its worth checking back there though.

It "snowed" here too the day I got Persona 4 -- that isn't saying much considering Im on the coast, but it was an inch or so, not bad.

kelvinc
12-13-2008, 10:32 AM
It's not the actual snow, but our retarded reaction to it. ;)
At least in Texas annual snowfall is supposed to average at 0. Here we actually do get snow every year, though very little and on few occasions, but drivers still freak out.

Anywho, I'm not a fan of paying another $40 for the artbook on Ebay, though I'm considering it as the last-resort option (maybe waiting after Xmas though). This whole experience has left a pretty bad taste in my mouth for EBGames (I would've preordered on Amazon.ca had they clarified the artbook situation just a few days earlier), and sadly even a bit on Atlus. I'm starting to wonder whether there ever were enough artbooks to satisfy all preorders in the first place.

lethalduckie
12-13-2008, 11:58 AM
Next time I'll probably just pre-order the stuff on amazon.ca or something too. So I don't have to worry about rushing to EB everytime to make sure I get those extras.

ragnar14
12-13-2008, 05:17 PM
Eh, take it from someone going through the Amazon ordeal. They aren't really a good alternative. They still haven't shipped out my Luminous Arc 2 ("In Stock" my ass) and I just got an email saying Persona 4 is delayed. The only upswing is you can abuse that $10 off $40 coupon, and spend your savings finding the artbook for sale somewhere.

Waiting seems like a good idea. Look at the Eternal Poison book, you can get it for under $20USD shipped now. Luminous Arc 2 seems to be dropping off to, but still costs a bit over $20 total.

I just bought one off eBay for $12.95 + $6.95 (USD). I doubt people will sell them for cheaper even if I waited longer, and I'm surprised that this guy is selling them for so low, but I'm happy to see it. Probably a stroke of luck more than anything.

Not even gonna bother going to the EBgames anymore about this. I don't have anywhere near the purchase history necessary for any "inside info" with the employees, it's unlikely they'll get any more books, and Xmas shopping season means nobody's in the mood to serve the guy who's asking for free stuff.

Had I ordered from Amazon.ca (and assuming I get the book), I would've paid $39.19. Instead, I've paid $55.99 (game) + $24.58 (book) = $80.57.

PS: the fact that it's snowing (for real this time!) is also a disincentive to go to EB. ;)

I dunno if that's a Amazon.ca issue, but I've always had good experiences with Amazon.com and I buy a ton of stuff from them.
