View Full Version : Atlus Classics at Game Crazy?

I just got the e-mail about this, and is there any kind of list of what games are available? I mean, there are a handful of older PS2 Atlus games I'm looking for, but I don't want to drive all the way over to my Game Crazy to find out they only have stuff I already own.

Well, I went over with the email flyer, and basically told them "if you can get Persona or Persona 2, do it". They took $6 per game for "shipping" - refundable if they can't get their hands on the game. I'm not sure they did it right. *shrugs* They didn't have a list - it sounded like they were just entering stuff into the system that would get actioned a bit later.

Does anyone know what these will cost? Same as when they came out? More? Less? An arbitrary figure decided by Game Crazy?

That is suspicous that they charged you for shipping - did you get a receipt? I haven't done this through gamecrazy but way back when RE3 for gamecube was hard to find I had gamestop transfer it to the store in my mall and they didn't charge me for shipping. More recently I had a gamestop offer to transfer a copy of La Pucelle Tactics from another store and they didn't mention a shipping cost at all. Now gamecrazy could very well charge for shipping but you never know.

Not sure why we needed a second thread for this question, but I guess I am kind of curious as well. I will leave it for now.

Sorry about that, I didn't see the thread in the other part of the forum before I made this one.

Will they know what I'm talking about if I asked them about ordering Atlus classics without the e-mail flyer? From what you're saying, they seem to be a bit clueless on this. I'll drop by(inconveniently unlike GameStop, I must say) this weekend and check it out. I'll tell you how it goes.

They do this for any game. How it works is that you pay six dollars for shipping/handling, and that particular game gets hunted down store by store by a corporate office. They SHOULD have a list of what games are on the BAD list. Meaning, they shouldn't be allowed to special order them for you. Let's say you go and try to special order Final Fantasy VII. They're not technically supposed to do that since it's so hard to find.
So, you pay 6 bucks that day, and then maybe a week and a half later your game will come in. And then they'll call you and you can go pick it up for whatever they're computer has it priced at. (They can't just make up numbers.)
I've special ordered a few games, but it's kinda pointless when you can get most of them for cheaper elsewhere. Although, they do have a function that allows you them to look at other stores' inventories if you're looking for a specific game.
It's kinda cool. But it's still just an elaborate way of getting your money when you can just as easily get it off the internet for cheaper, usually.

Gah, my closest Gamecrazy is like 18 miles away. I don't drive my car if I have to go more than 3 miles, and a bus out there will take an hour...
I'd really like to know what Atlus titles they can "order" for me. It's peaked my curiosity though. I'm going to have to check it out.

No biggy. I think there may be a better chance the Admins may address the question here anyway.

I totally agree it's weird - and, duh, I kept the receipt. :)
But, in a way, it makes sense, especially if they're offering some of the rarer games.

Hm... I'll have to check out the Game Crazy by me. I can go today, when I do my Christmas party food shopping. I'll inquire and take some notes, then report back with my findings.

I work at game crazy and had one of my employees tell me about this today.
We have not received any information on this at all, if we had we would have been the first to take advantage of it.

I'm mostly after the GBA stuff. If they can get any of the PS1 stuff, there's a few things I'd like as well. I forgot to call the store today to see if they could or not. Looks as if I'll be pestering em tormow.

I know a place selling new copies of Rule of Rose for $10CAD. They just put em out last week, I assumed Atlus printed more games for bins and that's why that email went out. But if that's not the case I can check back if some of you want them ;)

I was personally hoping that Atlus might have relented and finally done reprints of some of their PS1 games. That might be a lost cause, given that no one retail sells them anymore, even used.

The Gamecrazy by me knew nothing of it. The Manager was a little baffled. He told me he was a big fan of Atlus and also said there wasn't any info about it. He continued to say, "If you know the title you're looking for, we can order it for you."
So, I'll be brining in the email to him and take it from there.

Sucks my local Gamecrazy had been getting no business (especially from me since they sold my games when a friend robbed our house and they took out their vintage games) and since the storm hit they're official closed down.
The only stores I get my games at are Gamestop (preorders and new ones), Play-N-Trade (vintage) (*hint* erwos, if youre in the US), ToysRUS (deals), and Target (deals).

Never heard of PNT before - I'll give 'em a whirl on Sunday, maybe.
Anyways, GC just called me with the not-unexpected news that there are no copies of Persona 1 or 2 floating about the system. Unfortunately, the mofos are making me drive back to get my money - lame. I should just give them a chargeback and screw them. My guess is as someone else said: Atlus dumped a bunch of copies of games into the system, and this isn't really an official GC promotion. This could have been handled a little better, Atlus.

Man, we had a Play N' Trade by me, it was an awesome store. But nobody but me shopped there, so the guy slowly kept shrinking his open hours, and then his staff, and then the whole place closed down.
If you've got one near you, treasure it.

Meh, sorry I have to disagree on this one. Play N' Trade is a franchise. Because of this, the stores can differ greatly in what they carry. The one closest to me has one of the doucheiest staffs I have come across in a v/g store. They also have very bizarre return policies.
I won't bore you guys with some of the stories unless you are interested but one involves the store manager trying to convince me the "little slot" on top of the Saturn was for Genesis games. Apparently he had been telling customers this for days -- at least since he took the unit in on trade.
Did I mention I am an ardent fan / collector of Sega junk?
Anyone find out any info on this Atlus Classics?
Still havn't been there yet myself

Since I have a Saturn myself and don't know what its for (I would assume back up ram of some kind or a cheat device or a japanese peripheral we never got) could you explain? lol
Also, I forgot to mention that PlayNTrade isnt a company really >>; I've only been to one, but aside new releases, you never know what you'll find at each one. I managed to get a couple of good games (Dragon Quarter, Lunar 2 (2nd copy which I traded) and some carts)

I think it was for the 32x or a memory storage thing...
Only decent used videogame store in Austin is Gamefellas and a new one called Gameover Videogames although they have really crappy trade in values.

It wasn't for the 32x. It served as a port for RAM expansion and memory carts.

Those were it's official uses. Of course there were Gameshark like devices that fit in it, and most importantly Import Adapters :D Anybody that doesn't have a Saturn with at least an import cart can't consider themselves a Saturn fan.

Yeah -- it just sounds like Atlus figured out that Game Crazy can special order games, so they put it in their promos.
What they didn't tell you is that it's something Game Crazy does in general, so there's no need to really "inform" any employees of anything. Although it seems odd that people are being led to believe you can special order the "really" rare stuff and it will magically come to you. Some stuff you can, most stuff you can't.
When I worked at Game Crazy, we had a list of games we weren't allowed to special order. I guess nobody checks that anymore before they take your money. It's kinda slimey!
I prefer our local play'n'trade these days anyway.
Awesome. This is much better than paying crazy prices on eBay.

Right now the local gamecrazy store manager is checking to see if any of the 10 other local gamecrazys have any of the Atlus titles I'm after. He said not to worry about paying anything untill he finds it and can make certain it'll get to em. I dont doubt he'll try but I do doubt he'll have any luck. What are the odds of him finding any of the Shining Force games or Lufia? Lots on my list and even more difficult with me wanting them complete but if I'm going to pay more then a couple bucks for a game, I think I have the right to ask for it in the condition I want.
Please tell us what you find out! (Or I guess what he finds out)
