View Full Version : Social Link expansion pack problems/dissapointments/lies

There seems to be some problems and oversights with the expansion pack.

1) The calendar was poorly shipped and came damaged on all four corners (the corners were bent and tucked in inside the calendar. Proper packaging could of saved this from happening.)

and the big one...and someone mentioned this already...

2) The soundtrack case that was promised to be a two slotter is only for one disk. After playing with it the back does open, but there is no slot on the other side for the other disk. Also the front slot holder was damaged.

I ordered this the first day it was announced (1 day shipping and will get it Dec 11th yay), but I was wondering if Atlus was planning on having the side B soundtrack come in a 2 disk OST case (since between side A and side B will make up the japanese OST). I'm sure a lot of P4 fans who are getting the total package would love for atlus to include that to keep our soundtrack disks together and for protection. Also if Atlus plans on having the items coming in a box of some sorts or just throwing the items in a generic amazon.com shipping box.

We anticipated your demands and the Side B disc does indeed come in a proper jewel case with slots for both discs, because we know it would suck to have to keep them separate and in paper sleeves.

So my question is this, why lie to your customers if you know its not gonna happen and why wasnt proper packaging done to prevent possible shipping damages especially since we payed a bit of a premium price for these items? You should of known these are limited collector's items and people who buy them expect to get them in "new mint" shape.

I'm a big Atlus fan dont get me wrong (I bought P4 with art book, design material book, double jump guide, p2 reprint, all smt ps2 games, p4 Social link) but this oversight was a major disappointment and a letdown.

Concerning the damage to the calander, maybe you should take it up with Amazon.
As far as the CD, I thought I was just going to get a paper sleeve. Hot damn, I'm getting a jewel case.

As far as the CD, I thought I was just going to get a paper sleeve. Hot damn, I'm getting a jewel case.

The package came in 2 boxes. The box with the contents is packaged by atlus judging my the labels on the box. Amazon boxes the packages they receive to be shipped out to customers.

On the cd case, it was already stated offically that it was 2 slotter, but whatever. I'm more pissed that the case itself was even damaged to be honest. Seems like it's not an isolated problem if you look around.

I already contacted Amazon so hopefully they have more to replace this with, but Atlus needs to know their mistakes for future packaging and merchandise. Companies usually appreciate customer complaints as it helps improve things in the future instead of saying everything is "always alright".

Trust me, I'm still a loyal atlus fan, and will continue to be a SMT maniac, but things that are not acceptable and cost money should be noted.

Funny, my CD case does have two slots. The thing in the center does slide in and out, though, so I had to push it in a little so both CDs would fit onto it.

I got mine in just now. It's 1 box for me. And the calender was flat at the bottom, no bends or anything. The CD thing is unfortunate though... no snap on thingy for the second CD, so even though it opens up, it really only holds 1.

EDIT: Ah, I posted this before seeing the post directly above mine. He's right. You can push the thing back a little for the second CD to snap onto. :) (though I find that to be a bit terrible :p)

EDIT2: The shirt is so much bigger than I expected (even though I knew it was XL) ¬.¬

Well gonna ignore all the ass remarks. Sorry :D

Don't have a digital camera (sorry Im a poor college student, I'll take one if you buy me one though, I won't mind then lol). Basically the holder part is cracked where some of the "snaps" are broken off and laying on the bottom under the tray. Front side has a holder while turning it around it flat. I saw someone suggest they had to push it in a little, but being already cracked that just break it all off. I already replaced the case. The calendar i tried to flatten out but it basically has crease marks on every page on both sides.

Amazon.com isn't getting anymore after contacting CS so just have to make due with the damaged one. Hopefully this might help with future packaging from atlus (not necessarily from amazon). Just remember that if you get a good copy doesn't mean everyone copy is good ;) Chances are that it's more probable to have more damaged sets if there is one found already realistically.

*edit* i got a camera from a neighbor...pics coming

Yup I did just that when I opened the case I thought "wait a minute I thought it was supposed to be a two-disc set. al I did was take out Side B and push the disc holder inward a bit and voila both discs now fit.

Let me make a quick rview on how my SLE arrived.

The Teddie plush arrived wonderfully with no flaws at all.
The calendar was placed nicely with no bends in the corner
The T-Shirt is in excellent condition
Side B Jewel Case arrived in excellent condition with no cracks.

whoever packaged the stuff did a wonderful job they put the shirt first then soundtrack, followed by the calendar and finally Teddie.

Back - side pic. flat

Calendar - took a pic of one side after i tried to straighten it out. Notice that every page is still bent.

For me it was calendar on bottom against bottom of box, then shirt, then cd, Kuma, then the paper padding on top if it matters. Sounds like different people packaged them different ways. I can see how having the tshirt on bottom can help protect the calendar from being bent on edges from shipping.

Mine had Teddie plush in a bag on top, with the CD case (shrink wrapped) beside it. Then T-shirt (in a bag), and then the calender at the very bottom. It was all packed nicely with those air bag thingies. No damage with any of my stuff either.

Amazon(.ca) has always packaged things really nice for me.

Pics are labeled with problems already if you even bothered to look, might have to look close due to quality of pictures from camera I borrowed, but it's there (pic 1 has holder sticking out, pic 2 was on the other side with holder not sticking out, pic 3 shows bent corners. Can't really take a picture of it flat on the table since it is clear and won't show up on the picture).
If that's not what your wanting then I don't understand what your even asking for at this point.

I'm already over it and playing P4 now. Complaint is valid and issued, but have better things to do to try to over satisfy a random person's requests. No offense.

I don't have any problems with mine. The paper in the Side B case is slightly bent, but that's prolly because of me opening it. The shirt is even bigger than my GameCrazy shirt O_o

It seems like it was just hit-or-miss; some packagers were good, others weren't.

2) The soundtrack case that was promised to be a two slotter is only for one disk. After playing with it the back does open, but there is no slot on the other side for the other disk. Also the front slot holder was damaged.

Part of this is just that I misspoke; I always knew it was a hinge-style jewel case rather than a big thick double-capacity CD holder, but that didn't come across in what I said. For that, I apologize. The other part is that there were supposed to be prongs on the other side of the hinge to hold the other disc in place, but the manufacturer of the cases didn't exactly deliver what was promised to us, and I'm as annoyed about it as you are because it made me a liar, which is not fun.

Don't worry about it. I actually take back what i said if everyone got the 2 sided version (which I appologize for). I just had back luck and got a defect set out of this :( I already replaced the inner case part with an exact replica I was lucky enough to find. Still pretty ticked about the damaged calendar, but I'm having too much fun whipping shadow Yukiko's ass to care right now :P

If you look at the plastic in the center, the part that holds the CD, its a little flimsy. On mine, it was actually pushed out a bit and caused the side B CD to fall out when I opened it. But I opened the "secret" hinge that exposed the other side to take a look and was able to even out the placement of the center piece so that a second CD was mountable.

Bottom line, its not the most sturdy construction, but its not a lie, its a two CD case. There could be a some defective ones, but I think the factory insertion was probably not kind to it and simply pressed the mounting ring further to one side than the other. If your ring survived, examine it and see if you can coax the mount back a tad and mount the second CD.

I don't think the case will live all that long, but I can always use the graphics in another case and still keep side A in the game case.

They should try doing what NIS America has done, but maybe not as over the top as them (I hate that they put up a $130 set I cant afford or so much merchandise for something awesome I cant collect it all-- even then, ATLUS' stuff is so much better ^.~) Putting a few extra CDs or Tshirts up on their store (does ATLUS' store even exist anymore online?) sounds like a good plan. Hate to sound like Im gungho for NISA, but they also put up polls to see what their fans wanted most (in a way, reassuring they had orders for putting out whatever product).

This would work very well with limited edition reprints such as P2 IMO...

But even if Atlus couldn't, their a company and Im sure something is bound to get in their way. ^_^; Seems like companies nowadays can't take a turn without SCEA or ESRB jumping on them.

And my pack came to me today in a big cardboard box, which was plastic-wrapped, then put inside of another box, and everything was in great condition. So I'm gonna have to agree with JuanBlue and say that it was packaged extremely well.

Haha, within moments of opening up the CD I broke the jewel case. I was fiddling with the opposite side to see if a second CD would stay put, but it wasn't really holding it on there. Gave the center piece a push since it looked movable, and snap goes the plastic. I've broken tons of these things though, so uh... yeah. Oops. I had a similar empty one lying around (yay for giant music CD binders) and just swapped the contents. No problem.

But yeah, no other mishaps here. Everything was packed well, the calendar looks great, and the Teddie plush is awesome. The t-shirt is way too big for me, but oh well. Thanks much to Atlus and Amazon for the deal.

I just placed my order for the pack yesterday with Amazon for the MSRP, but it looks like they're already sold out yet again, with the lowest price being about $100 more. Someone might take this opportunity to buy them up and sell them for profit, but needless to say, that's not me -- I'm too much of a fanboy. But I'm also cheap. ;)

Just occasionally check the amazon(.com, .ca hasn't been restocked in a while now) product page for a while. It's been restocked a few times already, so there may yet be more. That and people may return stuff... who knows.

I would put money on there being more sometime relatively soon.

I think mine has the 'nub-popping-out' problem as well. It doesn't seem to be a big deal though, I just pushed it back in a bit. Once I get back home on Sunday I'll make sure the CDs both fit, it doesn't look like it'll be a problem though.

Besides, for now all my CDs just get ripped to my computer and then put in a box. I can worry about displaying them all pretty-like once I have a decent job and place to live.

the fact that you have to push the thing that holds the CD in the middle so it would actully hold the CD isn't
