Honestly, what are the chances of this happening?

Alright....So that was cleaned up. Please keep further discussion in this thread to the possibility of a Soul Hackers port.

Personally I would love to see it, but I don't have much faith in it being released here.

I honestly do not see it happening. Just like the second coming of Jesus.

Agreed

I should have kind of qualified that statement. I am partially basing this on the whole "technical issue" regarding DS PSP, but at least if SH was emulated, it has both Saturn and PSX source code.

I don't have much faith in SCEA approving SH either.

Why not? SCEA aren't as shallow-minded as they were in the PS1 days(at least I hope not).

They seem eager to let anyone release anything on the PSP to generate sales, especially RPGs. Just look at all the crap NISA's published.

If it happens, hopefully Atlus JP works with USA so that a localization can actually happen.

If that will happen I will have a nerdgazm

I don't think I can really divulge why I believe that, but I am basing it on stuff I heard from a year or two ago -- although that wasn't dealing with PSP games. I would have hoped that Atlus JP would have worked alongside Atlus USA regarding DS PSP as well....

Plus, even though it did not make it stateside, I have to wonder about that rumored SCEA policy regarding ports of console games and if SH was handled the same way as DS, aspect ratios.

I do agree with you on the whole NISA thing, but they get away with stuff on the PS2 that other companies do not seem to be able to do.

^I think NISA have close ties to SCEA, which explains why such a small publisher gets to publish so many questionable games on the PSP and PS2. Even Disgaea 3, the most 2Desque game for the PS3, managed to get a US release.

They might even be funded by them or something, to fuel the RPG demographic sales. This is just conjecture, though.

I'm doubtful at best...

Hopeful but doubtful.

Wow, I forgot I posted this thread.

What's controversial about Soul Hackers? I don't know any of the story, but I'm guessing since it's SMT that it probably follows the standard hey guys let's kill ####ing GOD plot, which has been shown by Nocturne and DDS to be a successful story arc in the US.

^I wouldn't say anything is controversial about it. People are just referencing what happened with DS PSP and SH on PSX in the U.S.

Wasn't Atlus USA planning to bring this to the US at one point? What stopped them?

I think Sony Computer Entertainment America stopped them.

^That is about the extent of what I know as well.

I can even remember seeing SH stuff on the Atlus website. Sucked.....

^To further rub salt in the wound, maybe over Xmas I will finally scan that GameFan article regarding Devil Summoner Saturn being released in the U.S.

It is pretty old material, so I can't imagine it being a problem if I posted it.

If there was nothing controversial, then why? Were they just being jerks?

^Not sure exactly, but it just happens. Shadow Tower Abyss also comes to mind.

I think is more easier that a fan translation bring this game than atlus.
After the devil summoner for psp didn't come, i lost hope.
