I really like this game so far. better than I hoped for, except... it's quite unstable on my slim PS2.
This weekend, it crashed at the end of the Redemption room in the Ashlee path, the cutscene ended after the combat, the screen went black, the "town" music was playing but after a few minutes, still nothing, I had to reset (without saving).
And now, trying the Arcana room and this time, while moving a character, the screen went black for a couple seconds and the game did simply reboot and I was back at the title screen.
I'm wondering if this is either my PS2 is dying or the game which is the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have another PS2 nor game disk to test which one is the faulty component, if this is an actual hardware problem. Anyone has these issues or very similar ones?

I didn't have any real issues playing on the PS2. Playing on the PS3, I get some blank screens that require a reboot.
I have the original PS2 (like second shipment or something, not slim). Not sure if it'd make any difference.

Isn't the Slim notorious for having issues in reading games? I'm sure that's the problem.
I'm thankful I still have my original PS2.

I've been playing on a slim. Zero difficulties thus far.

Slim, and no problems.
I've heard there's a bug somewhere in the game that's been catching people, though. Maybe you hit it?

Do you have any description of this bug and how to reproduce it? A link where you did see this information?
It crashed 2 times in 10h so the problem is kind of obvious, if most people didn't notice, it sounds like a hardware problem specific to my setup then. I've played 20 or so games to completion on this slim PS2 and the only problem I had is 2-3 crashes in Grandia III. I will continue to play and see if it persists or not.

50001 version, and I haven't had any freezes, as of yet....
Probably have about 25 hours put in...

Hmmm, I see you can reboot the game with R1+R2+L1+L2+Select+Start, so it is possible that my not-so-reliable wireless controller did send this to the console, which could be the source of one problem. Doesn't explain the crash in town however...

I had an issue around 7 fights in on Thage's story. I was going in one fight and a monster cast terra 2 on me, and the game started shaking a little, and wouldn't move on. Music kept playing normally, but the screen just stayed there shaking slightly. I could turn the camera, and what not, but could not select characters, or bring up any screens. Thankfully I am a big time saver.

I've only had one "crash"
It was right after the first non-prolouge battle. Before entering the town.
I heard the the town music, but no screen change. I waited a minute and tried adjusting my [release] PS2's wires.
I ended up restarting.
