OK, when I was listening to the CD, I was listening to one of the tracks, which was listed as "Retribution;" yet, when I began playing, it's listed as "Rosetta Rosso" in the game.
Am I the only one who's weirded out by this?

I honestly would have never noticed, but...
I came here and saw this thread, so I'll say it here:
Track 5 is amazing. Seriously. It has to be Shimomura! It's sounds like it could fit in Kingdom Hearts!
Man, the track gave so much nostalgia...:) Back when games seemed magical, and KH was like a dream come true. Now I'm all bitter--toward the series, too :P

Well, the track labeled "Shadow Frost Witch" was the opening song, and the actual Shadow Frost Witch was different in the game, I remember that much.
It's not like they put a huge effort into this soundtrack anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much. The songs are wonderful, though, but I was surprised when I saw how many there were.

I've solved this mystery. Tracks 1-4 are actually tracks 5-8, and tracks 5-8 are actually tracks 1-4.
In short, this is the soundtrack listing:
1] Waking Up
2] Retribution
3] Charge!
4] The Coming Flames
5] Shadow Frost Witch
6] Rosetta Rosso
7] Future Mage Queen
8] Will

Rosetta Rosso is an awesome track! They are all great, but Rosetta Rosso is one of the coolest tracks that I have ever heard in a game. :o

I do like tracks 5 and 6, but I'm a bit disappointed overall with the soundtrack. They all seem to be instrumental, though I can't say that I have listened to any of them for more than a few seconds. I'm pretty sure the soundtrack doesn't have that song from the trailer though, which I was looking forward to adding to my mp3 player.
Oh well, I love the art book, and both it and the soundtrack were free, so I can't complain(yes, I pre ordered my copy with the intention of getting my hands on that art book). And the tracks aren't all that bad(especially 5 and 6).

The CD was disappointing. I know most of these CDs that come with games are just a tiny sample of what's on the actual Soundtrack, but bleh. Eternal Poison at least got 20+ songs from (3 CD) soundtrack. This one only got 8 out of the 2 CD soundtrack (41 songs)... and not the best selection of tracks either.
Didn't really bother me since I imported the soundtracks anyway (I'm a "collector"), but it was still rather disappointing.

^- Is the complete soundtrack remastered like the promo CD? I purchase VG OSTs frequently and was considering buying the LA2 OST early next year alongside a few better-late-than-never pickups.

I'm not sure what "remastered" really means. It's such a buzzword ¬.¬ But the soundtrack is like... uh... good quality? It's not DS quality sound. It's the same quality sound as on the promo CD.
I'd recommend picking it up. I find it to be an excellent change of pace from a lot of the other soundtracks I currently have in my rotation. Nice and light hearted. Very upbeat.
I've solved this mystery. Tracks 1-4 are actually tracks 5-8, and tracks 5-8 are actually tracks 1-4.

*A few months later* Thanks for taking time to do that listing, because it saved me the time to check which is which ^_^ I wonder if we can contact Atlus about this and have some kind of goodie XD

The thing is that the CD contains the "higher" quality version of the soundtracks then on the ds. The DS game card doesn't have alot of memory to store both the sounds as well as the partial voice acting for the various scenes. Thus you have better quality on the CD then the DS. But it is disappointing that the CD only came with 8 soundtracks... I mean comon... the DS speakers are bad enough but the selection of songs to playback is just demeaning to having a soundtrack CD in the first place. Its not like the music has spoilers in it...
