Dispite it's ups and downs. IGN overal likes the game :).

8.0 Presentation
A huge step up from the last game. Still not mind-blowing, and the whole “Manga Strategy RPG” idea could be expanded further, but it’s got a distinct style this time around, and we like it.

7.5 Graphics
Looks nice, but very GBA-like during battles still. Effects are simple, but the cleaner interface certainly makes the game feel more polished and professional.

8.0 Sound
The music is again pretty inspired (enough to warrant a free CD pack-in). Voice still cuts out at seemingly random times, but there’s considerably more, and it’s better in quality.

8.0 Gameplay
Very Simple still, but with more depth overall than in the first game. Touch controls work better, the Rune Engine and Lapis are nice additions, and it’s a bit more balanced. Still basic though.

8.0 Lasting Appeal
Online returns, and while the quest is shorter, it’s still a deep experience with 30+ chapters. Leveling is more strategic, battles are a bit more fun, but still basic.

I sent Bozon an e-mail due to how impressed I was with the review - it is thorough, informative, and insightful. I know, a video game review from a major company is all of those!? :O Yet it is true. What stands out to me is that the final score accurately reflects the review's content...it reads like an 8 review and *is* an 8 review, not a 9 or a 6 as I might've acerbically expected.

Quite frankly, I thought Atlus put a lot of work into the game and should have deserved a better appeal. I would have liked some more connection to prequel, but maybe reviewers would have put down the overall rating if it weren't "new?"

I personally dislike game rating websites. They tend to embelish unimportant details. For instance, one site bashes Luminous Arc for not having 'different weapon animations for different weapons'...

Come on...

what do u think of the new luminous arc 2 features??

PERSONALLY...... im not a huge fan of the changes in gameplay i sorta wanted a sequal revolving around the original L.A. characters

CONS
1) u no longer regain all ur health when u lv up (whats up with that?)
2) u can only equip a character with max 2 items
2) there are a lot less healing options
3) there are a lot less chances to practice before a battle and lv up
4) saving ur progress is not as convienent
5) when battling, enemy reinforcements appear (very annoying)
6) the battlefield set up is different
7) less vocals
much to much dialogue
9) to many consecutive battling
10) game plot is similar to first game, nothing much new besides the characters
11) only 6 playable characters during battle
12) no improvement on intermissions
13) the engagement idea is....... odd........

i think luminous arc 2 did better with the girls because of the engagement feature, but what about all the guy fans??

overall, it really took away from the cool features of the original luminous arc, i think the worst part was not being able to regain max health when lv up!

PROS

1) there are improvements on the voices
2) slightly improved graphics
3) more complicated story plot
4) more promotional features
5) more of a challenge than original luminous arc
6) requires more tactics
7) engagement is a new idea.... but it lost its cool with some guys

I agree that some of the new additions add a flare of difficulty to the game, which is great. However, I think that a large amount of dialogue is awesome too, as it drives the story and makes the game feel more real. It also helps one learn about the characters more, and I enjoy playing games with a vast story and detailed dialogue, which Luminous Arc 2 has. :)

I agree, and love such games as well. :)
