View Full Version : Does anyone else find this hard?
I barley beat the first level. (The one after the tutorial) Also i'm doing the witch chapter.
It's probably just the fact i'm awful at these tactic games.
Nonetheless it's a fun game.

The only reason I find it hard is because I refuse to accept anything other than Overkills!
Well, I let some slide if I'm too far in, but yeah...it's challenging, which is a good thing :D
I just hope to make it through the level. lol

Not really, no. Hit Triangle while hovering over enemies to find out what their weaknesses are, and start hitting them. Most enemies keel over in a hit or two if you smack them in their weakpoints.
Although, I'm playing as Olifen and he has the most story characters in his party, and they seem to be significantly stronger than the mercs, so maybe that has something to do with it.

:agree:
Battles with Thage are a little more difficult than the other characters at first. The trick with her is to keep her protected and find a good Overkill combo between her and another character (i.e. Raki does X, Thage casts X, Overkill).
Out of all the characters, Marie's my favorite. At higher levels, she became my mage-tank haha.

I don't know, Thage seems really easy to protect if you just send Raki to take point. Raki and Retica are my damage magnets, the enemies go for them quite a bit. Retica can heal Raki if the need arises and Thage hardly ever gets hurt. Plus she can handle physical and magical attacks pretty well so she's not going to get destroyed like Retica...seriously he dies a lot on my games...
Enemies don't move unless you're within their move and attack range, so just drag them out one at a time if you need to. Just keep in mind that some enemies will leave if you take too long.

It's not an easy game. Don't let the enemies gang up on you. Move to the fringe of their movement range and let them come to you one at a time.

....for me is not accepting anything less than Overkills, especially for new majin or bosses, like dragonlife29 said! Other than that, I'm not having any difficulties....unless you count not being able to decide who to make permanent members in Thage's posse!
I am currently going with (besides the req'd 3):
Nena (Dark mage bad-assery)
Yuri (Light mage, power-healer)
Alexei (tank)
Ares (speedy weakness-exploiter)
Ares is LOVE. She's one of the best mercenaries in the game (to me, anyway), especially in her higher levels.

It's can be hard at times. Like when you happen to activate more than 3 enemies at a time and at least 2 of them decide to attack a single character in a row. Even worse if the character turns out to be the leader... And worse still if you forgot to equip healing items; for Thage's sake.
And the requirements to activate any secondary mission; can be troublesome, time consuming and nail bitting. But all and all it's not too hard as long as you don't go charging in, and wake up every near by enemy you see. It's just that the gameplay is extremely slow.... But then again... some times you're forced to charge in... or the Boss leaves; which can cost you a refugee...

So far the game doesn't seem too hard for me but then again I'm still on the early stages of Ashley's Quest and it probably helps that I have played and beaten games like Shining Force and Stella Deus.

This game is forgiving compared to Radiant Dawn.
OHHH! Triangle finds there weakness >.>
The one thing I can't do/understand is to combo with a spell, I thought it had to be melee only. Geez, now I feel lame for having a hard time, thanks everyone =D

Rule: always read (or pay attention) to tutorials in SRPGs.
Even if you're good at them, you never know what each SRPG does to differentiate itself from the rest :P

Like other's have said, I too am only finding it difficult trying to get overkills for everything. But other than that, it's fair enough. A few frustrating quirks here and there though...

i found it pretty easy and laid back, letting you get used to basic game functions. but, i am a seasoned strategy/rpg gamer( final fantasy tactics, ogre battle, phantom brave, etc.).

Having gotten further in the game I have to say it isn't that hard unless you foolishly rush in and end up activating several enemies. Granted trying to bind everything (especially bosses ) might increase the challenge but it still shouldn't make it impossible if you take your time.
Although I did it a couple of times, I finally quit restarting/replaying levels just to hopefully bind a few more majin or bosses. I know there are some great reward for doing so, but not enough for me to justify drawing out a level for the umpteenth time until I get it right.

Depends on the character
but they all tell you what to do
For Thage you need to summon a specific majin
for Olifin I don't think it had one

i like how challenging the game is, but i admit at times i find it hard to capture the bosses and majin i really want. especially bosses. by the way, has anyone's copy of the game glitch loading after the cut scene you have after defeating amirhage? after raki and the count and them had their cutscene, the background music loaded but not the picture. :(
