I'm aware there are about 5 threads with this topic so please don't tell me the obvious. My question hasn't been answered by either of those threads, hence why i made this thread. My Question is as follows:

Can the Persona 4 game fill a widescreen TV like in the video posted above?
Theories and speculations are welcome, since i doubt anyone knows 100% (unless they imported the JAP version). The P4 in the video is most likely just a demo. And on a side note, i'm also curious if P4 will have a higher resolution? I remember P3 being quite blurry on my 37'' TV. I am keeping in mind that it is PS2 technology. Thanks to anyone and everyone that replies to this thread without getting angry at the fact that i re-posted the same topic.

I am pretty sure that an atlus employee has already answered this, but maybe it was over at NeoGAF. The widescreen was just something they did specifically for whatever event that was and the retail game won't have a widescreen feature.
edit: actually your question was answered in this thread http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2052

Okay so i just took the time to re-read the thread you linked me to in your post. I also took care to make sure i didn't misunderstand anything. The only things anwsered in that thread are as follows:
1 - Persona was stretched using a non-linear stretch
2 - P4 does not support widescreen natively
Let me clairify what i meant in my question. I dont care if the game supports widescreen or not, or how ps2 games create a substitute for widescreen. All i want to know is if i can get Persona 4 to look the same on my TV as seen on the TV in the interview. That has not been answered in the thread you linked me, and nobody said it was only for the event.

^Wtf do you think someone at Atlus will know what your tv can or cannot do? I mean the game doesn't support that resolution so...

Well i dont think the TV has much to do with it... i mean the game either is or isnt built to fit multiple screen aspect ratios. Theres nothing the TV can do to change that... Anyways thanks for answering about the resolution issue.

The game is designed for and natively only supports 4:3. There is no "Widescreen" toggle in the SETTINGS menu.
That said, some have seen footage of the game shown on a widescreen display. The image fills the screen using the LCD's built-in stretch, and many have been unable to discern the difference. In truth, the game (while technically being stretched horizontally) is not distractingly or noticably warped in play. As long as your 16:9 or 16:10 unit has some form of hardware stretch to take a 4:3 or other "fullscreen" image and stretch it horizontally to fill the entirety of the surface, then you will be able to play the game as it appears in the videos you have seen online; there is nothing else at work there.
Hopefully this is sufficient clarification for all who were curious or unclear.

Perfect, thank you. After a bit of fiddling with my TV, i got P3:FES to display widescreen with no visible distortions. Although i honestly would of never figured it to be the TV's programming to do that. Anyways, thanks a lot!
