Sega released this on the DS this year and it's doing surprisingly well so far. With World Destruction and Infinite Space already confirmed to be coming next year and Shiren DS2, Phantasy Star 0, Seventh Dragon, and Shining Force Feather on the way to the DS alone from them I'm afraid that this will be one of the games passed up in the fray. Maybe Atlus could pick it up instead?

How well did the XBLA game do?
And surprisingly the PS2 version of the game was NA-only. Who owns that series anyway? It's been handled by so many different companies. Namco, Sega, NEC, OmiyaSoft...

Like System_Error said, Culdcept Saga wasn't XBLA and it bombed worldwide unfortunately. I think OmiyaSoft has the license, it's the only reasonable explanation I can think of for it to go through all those publishers.
The PS2 game was released in Japan as Culdcept II Expansion, but I guess it was the first release of Culdcept in the west so they got rid of the rest of the title. It makes that Wikipedia article misinforming since it's actually a sequel to the only game we've never gotten.
I believe Culdcept goes:
Culdcept (Saturn/PS/DS) -> Culdcept Second (DC/PS2) -> Culdcept Saga (360)
But I haven't played any versions of the first or the DC game since they never came out here so I couldn't tell you how different they are.

I really really really really hope someone picks this up and brings it here. Come on Atlus I know you would do it justice! =D

I support this.
I'd prolly pick this up, but not day one. Culdcept saga is going for 20 for anyone interested (Amazon.ca) :)

That is a great price for the game. I paid $30 for my copy and don't regret it all. The single player is decent but where the real fun is at is the multiplayer - I play with my friends and we can play for hours. I remember my friend and I played the PS2 version for 7 hours straight the first time we played. Unfortunately it can be hard to find a game online sometimes but if you have friends who would be interested in this or maybe go to a culdcept fan site it is well worth the money. If you like card games (mtg,yugioh,etc)/monopoly you will probably love this.

I don't know how well Culdcept Saga did (it was retail not XBLA unless it was XBLA in another region) but I do think I remember hearing that the PS2 version had a reprint though they didn't make very many when it was released. I have a feeling though the DS version would sell better than the PS2/360 version just because it would be awesome to play on the go.

I love card games, but admit to never picking up the PS2 version...
If brought over by anyone, I'd definitely look into it.

The X360 version is really good and you should get it if you can find it. They changed the graphics/art style and it is more balanced. It also has online play but it can be hard to find a match sometimes.

The PS2 ver. of Culdcept is one of the rarest games on the planet. I couldn't even find it illegally:(
So yeah, I'd love a DS ver. of the game.

I know this topic is old but has there been any new info on this game? Even Sega hinting at a possibility of it coming here or something?

I admit I don't know much, but I'm keeping an eye out for the PS2 version. But I heard it's uber rare so, Atlus, bring this gem to us. In an understandable language, if possible.

I have found two. One online, I ordered it on gamestop's website when they didn't have it in stock - I don't think they do this anymore but if they do then place an order and they will ship it when they get one, and I found another one in a gamestop near my school. If you are lucky to find one in gamestop its $7. I would say its well worth the $20-30 it goes for on ebay if that is an option. If you have a 360 that one is $20 and also well worth it. These are probably two of my favorite games of all time. I haven't played it in a while I will make sure to fix that this summer.

Yes, please. Although I think Namco Bandai has the rights to Culdcept since they did the 360 release... but they are doing nothing to support it. You'd think with a card game on the 360 you'd at least see some DLC which adds new cards.

I created an account on this site for the express purpose of saying, hey atlus, pick this game up and run with it into the us.

Another fantastic role playing game with board game elements and is classic. its like fantasy monopoly with monsters.
Dokapan journey was okay, but this game is sheer awesome. Fans of Culdcept like this game franchise so much I read there were unofficial translations of this game for ds in the works.

If you bought the JP version, there's an English patch now.

Yea the cards were translated a couple months ago and I played it hardcore with my friend. The game is really fun but not quite as good as the PS2 or 360 versions. I will definitely pick it up if it comes out here though.

It was rated highly by Famitsu, sold very well for such a niche DS game in Japan and already has English voices in it (from what I recall - correct me if I'm wrong, please). If XSEED has the balls to bring Ragnarok DS over to the US, I can't see why Culdcept DS wouldn't be given a chance. Unless the licence fee is so costly it'd make the decision too risky?
