I can get this game for like 7.50$ brand new but I'd like to know what you guys think of it. If anything I'll get it to round up my Atlus collection.

Given the name I imagine there's another version of this (not to mention a prequel) How do the others stack up?

The tv remote thing was the older GBC one, i believe the GBA one didn't have that. And you pointed the remote towards the infrared thingy on the old gbc to receive the signal.

The other version is Robopon Cross. I have them both and it's just Pokémon really, but as Pokémon clones go, it's very good, and the script made me lol at a few points.

Buy it, play it.

I seem to recall a horrible difficulty spike towards the end, though

I gladly paid either $30 or $40 when it came out, and not only that, I loved it so much I went and got the other version. Sure, it's a Pokemon clone, (I prefer to use the term monster collecting game, or in this case, robot collecting) but it's a really FUN Pokemon clone.

:D I love both Robopon games! Dr. Zero's an awesome villain. I really wish they'd released Robopon 64 in English.

I had a dream a few nights ago that Atlus remade the original Robopon games for the DS, like Nintendo recently did with Pokemon Gold and Silver.

These games had really cool sidequests, like the search for the Brownie and Illusion Village!

For the price, I'd get it if only because it's an Atlus title. I dont have it and am a bit envious.

The series wasn't too bad. It didn't feel as polished as Pokemon to me (as polished as you'd call Pokemon), but I still enjoyed the series. I've never actually tried the IR sensor for the GBC, though. I should give that a try one of these days.

Sorry this post is off topic but as a new member I can't start a new thread...

I was just wondering if Atlus PSP games come with the Official PSP cellophane strip that you 'tear away' ?

I recently bought Hammerin' Hero as to archive and it did not have the PSP 'tear' away strip although it is cellopane sealed...

Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Haha, off topic.

Your talking about the sticker thing that keeps you from opening the case right? I don't know if it's just me but I never see those on anything but older stuff and cd's anymore. Maybe it's from where you got it? Though I don't know why that should make a difference.

This game is like pokemon, I want to try this now

What I like about this game, and Robopon 2 as well, is how the bad guys don't play around. It's not like Pokemon where they just want to hurt your Pokemon; these guys are after humans.

I mean in game 1 you get mugged, have your girlfriend get kidnapped by her own father, have to fight a bunch of people hypnotized by TV, almost drown, have to join an army to have any chance of stopping their leader, watch the Princess get imprisoned in a mirror, get accosted by robots, and almost get blown up.

And in the sequel there's lots of instances of people dying and you almost getting blown up. And/or drowning.

Call me crazy, but I feel Robopon could make a terrific manga or anime. It seems like it could go a lot deeper than what the game shows you :)

It could have themes of jealousy when Sunny sees Janet's Golden Sunny, and then when Cody takes the Golden Sunny he could feel replaced and run away or something!

Or maybe Princess Darcy could sneak out of the castle to help Cody throughout, so when she gets trapped in the mirror it'd have more impact!

I'm fairly certain Robopon actually was a manga.
