Despite the low score, I'm still quite interested in it.

You know, this is one of the few Atlus-published titles I'm not really interested in...

I feel ungrateful =(

Yet strangely, I find this review just reinforces the pre-order I made for this game last night. Lots of meat on it in terms of game time, potential seems readily there to try unusual characters builds and Slime constructs on replays, etc. Seems like a novel little game so long as it doesn't go bersek with stylus controls being forced or something....

Not the best review I see, I am still waiting for mine to show up at my GameStop. Has anyone got theirs yet, and if so, how is it so far? And next up is there any kind of replay value in this game?

Cheers

Srsly? What would have turned you off on the game? That's a pretty impressive low score.

I quite liked Dungeon Keeper which has a similar idea, I just wanted to see that idea in the hands of a Japanese developer. In other words, I'm just getting the game to satisfy my curiosity in the unusual mechanics of the game.

I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, it was easy to see from the start that it was an overly kiddy game and probably lacking in the gameplay department because of that. Other reviews are available for that game now, and they are all quite low.

I feel ungrateful =(You're not alone.

I would rather be building a dungeon for heroes to enter and fall to my hand instead of just building a dungeon to keep monsters away from a town. That would be a very interesting and original concept. Playing as the villian has kinda been done before, but I mean in the more typical fashion! Like putting treasure chests inside the dungeon to draw more powerful heroes! Of course it would need a cheesy and cliché plot and poor reasoning for the player being a villian to keep it light-hearted. Perhaps a DEMONIC TALKING SHOVEL! >:D

First off, I'm getting it regardless. I just may not play it that much, if at all. I buy everything they publish that's turn-based because I want to support that game play style. The same is not true about other types of Atlus games. For example, I did not purchase Arcana Hearts.

More importantly, however, I wanted to address this sentiment. Blind loyalty to a brand only encourages them to feel overly secure in whatever they want to do. This can lead to poor game choices and quick cash in titles. I'm not saying Atlus is doing this, or has, but being a fan of their games should make you feel BETTER about sending a message to the company with your dollars instead of GUILTY. They won't know what works for their fans or not if people blindly buy everything regardless of quality.

Believe me, I know what you mean and completely agree with your words; I also did not buy Arcana Hearts, along with Draglade, Ontamarama, both Touch Detectives (Only because I keep putting it off), and a few others. In retrospect, I've definitely made sure to buy every rougelike they pump out.

The last site i can refer to in a game review is RPGamer; it seems like every reviewer is tired of RPGs .... i know they are hardcore and experienced gamers, but they abuse of that experience in the reviews.

ATLUS usually has a very good taste in its north american releases. You can read a review and take the advise if you have read a few reviews from that person, but you need to give the game a chance and play it yourself to really know if the game stinks or if the game is good.

OK, so I broke down and gave this a shot this weekend. It's actually quite addictive. I can see myself playing this on and off for a little while at least. I wish it was a bit more challenging, and that they had toned down some of the kiddy themes a tad, but overall I'm pleasantly suprised.

I did play it quite a bit so far, I'm at the 3rd floor out of 10 (?) and it's not as bad as the reviews claim, but there are important design problems but other are quite good, somewhat new and refreshing. I personally think that the game is quite decent actually. I hope to write a more detailled review here when I will be further in, to make sure that the game did introduce all the gameplay features it has.
