PROFIT.

The game honestly wasn't that great, but I was a Sega fanboy back in the day, so I took what I could get on the Dreamcast. Maybe I'm looking at it through nostalgia goggles, but there was something about this game that just 'clicked.' Kaneko's art design + the soundtrack won me over, even if the latter wasn't outstanding. I just can't knock this game too hard.

Nocturne's release really grabbed me by the hair, though. Very moody and perfect atmosphere. I didn't mind the dungeon-crawling aspect, although I do wish I had time to actually beat the game. I keep buying video games and never complete them due to college, work, and personal projects.

High School was such a wasted opportunity to game.

Persona in 1997. Then it was Tactics Ogre for PS1.

If i'm going by technicalities, then my first atlus game would be Super Dodgeball Advance. Next ones would be Summon Night Swordcraft story 1 and 2 for the gba. I loved those games and i'm still annoyed that Atlus never translated the 3rd one.

My first introduction to Atlus was Persona 2. My friend raved about the game and said i had to paly it, so he lent it to me and then..god bless the internet..i researched the Shin Megami Tensei series and from there the rest is history as they say..

After the PSX era passed I only bought three PS2 game series: Gundam, Armored Core and LoK. For some reason those where the only type games that I really liked because they were the only ones I was attached to (and each series has a lot of games). That all changed when I saw the cover of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, I had no clue what the game was about but the awesome cover hooked me. It blew my mind to see Anime implemented heavily on a video game. I bought the game close to it launch date and it quickly became one of my most favorite games. I was very inquisitive about my games so I noticed the Atlus logo right away. However I bought very few RPGs after that until years later I saw a preview of another game whose art style hooked me, that was Persona 3. The simulation/RPG concept drew me in immediately.

I bought it when it came out and it rocked my world, it was everything I ever wanted to see in a video game, an Anime transformed into a game with awesome and curious dark themes. After that I kept close track of all Atlus games out there and those son to come. I bought Nocturne and experienced SMT roots (in the PS2 at least) and continued onto Fes, P4 and others. When I bought my PSP I bought mostly Atlus games, Riviera is the best :D

P3 is absolutely my favorite game ever <3

My introduction came in the form of Nocturne but what really got me into Atlus as a company was Digital Devil Saga. At the time, it had been reviewed on X-Play (which I watched faithfully for a while, before G4 turned into Spike4) and been highly lauded for how amazing and different it was.

I first found Atlus with Robopon 2. Then I found Robopon (the first one) on the cheap, and marveled at how much better 2 was over 1. Of course, that wasn't terribly hard; Robopon 1 was fun but it was also a very blatant ripoff. Robopon 2 mixed up the formula enough that it was a separate game; that plus its hilarious script make it one of my favorite games to this day.

Then I didn't really play any other Atlus games until Odin Sphere and Persona 3. Coincidentally, Persona 3 is also one of my favorite games. Good job, Atlus.

No doubt, Snowboard Kids 1and 2. Those were the only racing games besides Mario Kart 64 that kept me entertained. The DS game was a bit disapointing (Nancy went from sweet to cold and Tommy went from gentle to bully status:confused:) I wish they would revive the classic series on the Wii one day, but with every character up to date

Mine was trauma center second opinion for the wii. I got it as a christmas present and thought it was just a stupid doctor game. Boy was I wrong! I instantly loved the game and got the other three games as well!

I started with the release of digital devil saga as a young teenager, impressionable and loving demons at the time(dont know why)anyway i was moved by the quality of the voice-actors i recognized from animes i've seen, and also the shear emotion the characters developed(exspecially Argilla's character) then i moved on to persona 3 then the fes release, again great voice-acting and sadly not as hard as dds. now ive grown a library of games from atlus because what every they make seems to be great! Heck i bought a nintendo DS for the sole purpose to play devil survivor and wound up with luminious arc 2 in my waiting months.

I wanna say Bonk's Adventure, but I'm not sure of whether or not I actually played it. I had a TG-16, but I didn't have the game… a friend of mine had it on his, but I really just don't remember if I played it while I was at his house, so I'll just say Thousand Arms.

Which, incidentally, was the first RPG I actually finished, after deciding never to play another RPG when I got to the end of FFIII(FFII U.S.) and the cart apparently sprouted legs while I wasn't looking.

Which was additionally unfortunate because I was borrowing it at the time. O_O

Etrian Odyssey is the game that made me start paying attention, but it turned out that I had purchased Trauma Center a little before that.

I was a fool and sold all of my video games (2600, NES, SNES, Genesis) in 1997. The gf (now wife) got me back into video games in 2004/2005 (GameCube and PS2) but, aside from Fire Emblem, I didn't like any of the RPGs I tried. Final Fantasy X, Tales of Symphonia, etc. They didn't have the same feel as the ones I played in the old days. Too linear, not very challenging, no sense of wonder, uninteresting or unavailable character customization, just not fun to play. I gave up on RPGs.

My distaste for modern RPGs almost caused me to ignore Etrian Odyssey as well, but I eventually gave it a second look and realized it was a game I had to try. Since then, I've paid a lot of attention to what Atlus has been doing and have played a lot of good games as a result.

Actually, turns out that Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was my first Atlus game. Not developed by Atlus, but whatever. First game that had Atlus on it.

I never really cared about Atlus until I saw a video on Youtube of Persona 3.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tkx28h9BqQ

Bought Persona 3 the next day. First and only to make me pull an all-nighter. Now I own all the PS2 Megami Tensei titles, with Devil Survivor and Devil Summoner 2 pre-ordered.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was my introduction to Atlus. I thought I had bought and played an earlier title, but nothing comes to mind. It wasn't until recently that I now want to track down old Atlus titles along with staying aware of anything they are bringing us in the future.

Even I don't remember!
If Disgaea counts, then I'll say that.
Or I could go on and say Snowboard kids...
But for the one that got me into Atlus as a whole, Persona 3 FES

Disgaea is a NIS game.

NIS developed, Atlus published. It put the name Atlus in front of more US gamers than any game that came before it. I'd say it counted.

My first Atlus game was Summon Night: Swordcraft Story, closely followed by Riviera and the second one, with Yggdra Union riding hard on their heels. Atlus was kind to GBA users.

The game that made me step back and take notice was Etrian Odyssey, which I picked up used on a whim. Of course, I loved it, and preordered 2 the moment it was announced. (I've also gotten a few other people playing the series...) Afterwards, I went frantically looking for P3, to no avail. A Gamestop said it was still in print for $30, and they expected some in about a month. It took a little longer than that, since it was a week later that FES was announced. Naturally, I had to go back and find the older games... I've managed to get all the Persona games for a semi-reasonable price except for the first one. (Even the import of Innocent Sin only set me back $50.)

Wow, that almost sounds exactly how I became infatuated with Atlus! All the way down to Gamestop saying they could get me a new copy of P3 for $30 just before the FES annoucement! Though I just recently got P1 (for $67.50, thanks PnT!), yeah, hunting down all the Persona games was quite fun! ^_^

Persona 1. That game was ridiculous amounts of fun back in the day.

Also just as memorable was the PS release of Ogre Battle. Though I own the SNES and PS version, the SNES really needed a mid battle save function since some battles could last several hours, especially if you searched the whole map.

While I have played NES games from Atlus, I believe it was Persona 1 that really got me hooked so that's what I'll use.

Riviera: The Promised Land, for GBA. I was still a little kid at that time, but I enjoyed so much that game that I wondered why nobody I knew played it. Then Nocturne, DDS1 and 2, P3 and P4. I didn't like P3 though, actually I kinda hated it. But I loved P4.

to be honest I can't remember if I played an Atlus game before Tactics ogre on the GBA when I was like 13. I didn't know it was Atlus or care. Now I know tha mot anything with Atlus on it is fantastic. When I was younger I also played Tsugnai Atonment not knowing it was Atlus.

Thousand Arms was my first Atlus game. I loved it at the time as it was a RPG that didn't take itself too seriously. Yah you were still saving the world and all but the characters were an absolute riot and the enemies where too. HEH.

Hello!

I bought a PS2 last winter and the game I initially wanted to play the most was Final Fantasy X but I kinda didn't like it. Then a friend of mine showed me Persona 3 on his PS2 and, well, I was sucked in from the beginning. So I bought it - and NOW I know why I got my PS2. I'm actually more of a PC-gamer but I was getting pretty tired of recent PC Games which all seemed to follow the same formula and lacked creativity in my opinion at the time. However Persona 3 was the kind of new gaming experience I was searching for - clever, compelling and (lacking of a more fitting word) sophisticated. So Atlus (next to team Ico) kind of saved my fondness for videogames.

Sorry for any mispellings or any deformation of grammar and/or syntax  but I'm german and it's really, really late right now.

Well, my oldest are Bonk's Adventure and Dungeon Explorer on the TurboGrafx-16. I don't recall if the Atlus name was very visible on the box or start screen.

In late 2004, I got a PS2 and a bit later, a GBA, and I was going around to the various game stores and pawn shops to build up my PS1, PS2 and GBA collections before those games disappeared. I think I picked up a used Nintendo 64 and SNES around then, so I was getting some of those games, as well.

Since I was buying a lot of games in a short period, I'm not sure which I got first, but the first titles that I got where I started noticing the Atlus name were:
Ogre Battle 64 (N64)
Brigandine: The Legend of Forensa (PS1)
Persona: Revelations (PS1)
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1)
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (NIS - PS1)
Thousand Arms (PS1)
Dual Hearts (PS2)
SMT: Nocturne (PS2)
Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land (PS2)
Disgaea (NIS - PS2)
Lufia: The Ruins of Lore (GBA)
Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA)
Tactics Ogre: A Knight of Lodis (GBA)
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon (GBA)
Shining Soul II (GBA)

Back when they first released Rhapsody for PS1, I saw an ad in a game magazine and thought it looked adorable. I bought it one Friday and beat it the same weekend (not a feat since it's a very short game) and started looking at Atlus's other games to see if they had other unique games like that.

Persona for the PS1.

Saw the review in a game magazine and I thought it might be interesting. At the time, there weren't a lot of known RPGs set in a contemporary time.

The gameplay got me hooked, but as I grew older and well-versed in Japanese language and culture, I realized that the game was gutted in so many different ways that it wasn't even funny.

I'm glad that Atlus game localizations nowadays aren't trying hard to "Americanize" games like they did with this one before.

My first ATLUS game was Tactics Ogre for the PS1(and what a first that was, to date there are only 3 tactic games that can claim to be better, one of which is another Tactics Ogre game, and another game basically designed by the same team who created Tactics Ogre). Personally I think that is thee game that jump started ATLUS, as the renowned localizer it is today. However the crazy thing is, it has seemed to be a never ending string of good games (not all of them were great, however not everything can be great, but there wasn't a single bad game yet).

PS. ATLUS so must have a bunch of play testers test out the games, before deciding to localize it or not, to see if they are good games or the standard crap.

Demon's Souls, though it's really not an Atlus game technically.

but given that they had the foresight to bring us such a unique game to the states, they have caught my attention.

now with the deluxe edition strat guide replacement they are doing, it shows me they are a class act too.

I'll be keeping my eye on more Atlus games in the future.

they'll be getting my money long as they give us quality games.

My very first game was Jack Bros (Virtual Boy). My brother and I bought a handful of Virtual Boy games along with the VB at a Blockbuster when they were trying to get rid of them. It was a little after it became a failure. Lucky for me, I got to play a fantastic game. I even attempted to record a 10 minute video of it and it’s uploaded on you tube.

I guess it would be Trauma Center games. A friend of mine recommended to me, and he just lent it to me. After a whole week of pain, I beat it. About 4 months later, Trauma Center 2 came out, and I just bought a copy.

Soon after, Persona games followed......

My friend did that with the VB... We were hangin' out at his house during a bad storm, and of course all the lights went out (and it was PITCH BLACK!) So we decided to make the best of it, and played a bunch of Virtual Boy stuff for several hours.. :D

Persona 1 is the first one i remember, although i did play the nintendo and SNES and may have dabbled in one of those games. I can't say for sure, considering i've been gaming for so long.

I was amazed to see how many of their PS1 games i still have.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
@viceofarcardia: quote:Man I need to sit down and replay the Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre series.

I still have Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre. I played the death out of tactics. That 100 floor tower just simply rocked. If i had the time i would at least go back and play that.

Persona 3 was actually my first Atlus game, but I remember seeing ads and trying to get both Persona 1 & 2 back in the day (I lived in the boonies, so there were no videogame stores that stocked those games), and then also missing both Nocturne and DDS1 because I was busy with school, and didn't have alot of time for games. So I finally wised up and pre-ordered Persona 3 as soon as it was announced. Since then I've gone back and picked up everything I've missed, except the old Persona games, and I have yet to be disapointed by anything.;)

Well, I have a weird gaming history, well maybe it's a nonexistent one. I had the original Atari, Coleco and Nintendo then I had nothing until the Wii and PS3 came out. I have recently gotten a DS too. I loved RPG's back in the day. I played a lot of no graphics RPG's on my 'puter. Soooooo, I'm getting back into some of my childhood loves: RPG's and Anime.

My introduction to Atlus has been Demon Soul's. I'm blown away and I'm loving it. Talk about a challenge. I am drooling over all the other games too. I want Y's and a number of others but I'm working through some RPG's on the DS right now. I have a huge back catalog to catch up on and a huge amount of PS2/Gameboy games to cover as well. I have downloaded some from the PSN.

Your apostrophe between the Y and the S is an ominous foreboding that you pronounce it as such. As I was formerly cubicle'd next to the project lead on that title, who corrected this entire office, I feel it is my responsibility to carry on his legacy and inform you that it is pronounced as you would say the word "Ees." Like "eel" with an s.

My first Atlus (published) game was Snowboard Kids a decade back, I also played Ogre Battle on the respective console around the same time but neither of these were developed by Atlus Japan. I'd assume my first real Atlus was in the Shin Megami Tensei series, since the MegaTen series was developed by Atlus Japan. In this case, don't judge me, it was Persona 3 FES. o___o;;

My first experience with Atlus games... was Shining Soul II. ^^; And I admit, that almost doesn't count since it was just published by Atlus.

However, my first real Atlus experience was Trauma Center: Under the Knife. And I'll say, that definitely set the stage for my interest in additional Atlus games. (I admit, it was not really until Persona 3 that I really got into any further Atlus games. But that year being the first year I had a job... I definitely more than made up for that. ^^; ) I obtained a Wii to continue collecting the Trauma Center series (had to search for Second Opinion, but got lucky as a Best Buy near my college had a ton of them...) and I only had a few months until New Blood. ^^ I spent the next several months tracking down every last SMT game I could get my hands on. I only could not find Revelations: Persona and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. (I later got lucky when there was that short 'reprint' of Eternal Punishment before P4 was released... I remember I even broke my "don't order anything on an unsecured Wifi connection" rule for that. So glad I did. :P) And of course the best luck of not getting Revelations: Persona is the PSP rerelease. :P

The first ever would have to be Cosmo Tank for the Game Boy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmo_Tank

But the first that I knew as at Atlus title (developed and published), would have to be Persona on the PS1. From that day and on, I've purchased almost every Atlus RPG released. Now, it's just about everything. I like to support niche publishers and Atlus is one of the few that's still bringing rare titles to the US.

I'm pretty sure my first Atlus game was the original Trauma Center for the DS. I vaguely remember the game getting a lot of attention for it's unique gameplay. Twas a great game. I remember nearly having a heart attack when I finally beat that bomb diffusing mission oh boy.

After that, I got into the SMT franchise with Persona 3. I actually read up a bit on the series from Hardcore Gaming beforehand. I was so excited about the game coming out, I pre-ordered it at a Gamestop in an obscure mall to make sure I got all the pre-order swag. Needless to say, I fell in love.

After that, I got all the Trauma Center sequels (haven't finished any of them though...) and Persona 4 when it came out. I also tried tracking down all of the previous SMT titles that came out before P3 which was a hassle. Managed to find a used copy of Nocturne at a local Gamestop. It's great, but I've been stuck for a while on it (MATADOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR).

I also bought Devil Survivor and P3 FES when they came out. I really liked the SRPG elements in DS. There was quite a learning curve for the first major boss though (lol Wendigo), though I should be used to that with SMT games by now. With FES, I skipped the Journey since I had recently managed to beat the original P3 at the time. So, I went on to The Answer, and was turned off by how jerky everybody was, specially Yukari. That and the fact it's just grind grind little bit of story grind grind grind story grind grind griiiiiiiind is why I haven't finished it yet ugh.

I pre-ordered King Abaddon so I got the freaking awesome Raiho plushy. However, I refused to play the game since I hadn't found a copy of The Soulless Army, so it just sat on my self looking sad. Recently though, I finally got my hands on a copy and am currently playing and enjoying the heck out of it. Seriously, the game just exudes coolness.

Whoa, sorry for the TL;DR.

Hm aside from briefly seeing some of their older games for the NES and gameboy, my first true exposure to Atlus was Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Some time after first seeing a chunk of that(and trying some of it out to help him lvl characters) I got my hands on the double pack of persona 1 and 2 (which I had been eyeballing for years but never grabbed new). So Disgaea started it, but Persona solidified my faith in Atlus. :)

Ningyo
03-11-2010, 11:36 PM
I'm not sure. Disgaea maybe? I only really got to think about the Atlus name because Disgaea was so awfully hard to find, and I began to hear about how games from Atlus could get rare after a short period of time :P
Because of that I looked into whether they had more titles I wanted before they became "extinct".

I first became interested in Atlus when I saw DDS1 covered in an issue of Gamepro I had. However, being very young and broke, I didn't really have the resources to pursue such a relatively rare game at the time.

Time would pass...I would eventually stumble across Devil Survivor, and remember how much I wanted to play the rest of the SMT games when I was 14. Now I'm 20, and Atlus has since usurped Bethesda as my favorite developer.

Yep.

Other notable early titles at least published by them that I'd played are Gunbird, DonPachi, DoDonPachi (god bless my friend's Japanese Saturn), Snowboard Kids (nice to see others mentioning this one), Thousand Arms, and Guilty Gear.

I didn't truly recognize Atlus as such (or start to care, really) until Original Generation 2, though. After that, I took up a specific interest in Atlus, mostly after finding them in a similar niche as the late Working Designs.

My first exposure to Atlus was probably Snowboard Kids on the N64. Rented it with friends and loved the hell out of it. But my first Atlus game that I owned and made me love the company was Persona 3: FES. Got it shortly after finally getting a PS2 (had been a one console only guy til I could afford to branch out). P3 blew me away and promptly proceeded to pick up any of the SMT series I could find. Now I am branching out further into many of the other RPGs Atlus has published, if I can find them.

Fun little 2-player action game that's kinda like Strider. You might've heard of it. Friend of mine owned it, as I only had a Genesis and NES. We never really made it past the third boss; usually, we'd just switch cartridges and take turns playing UN Squadron instead. What can I say? UN Squadron was fun, even in a watered-down port.

I actually didn't start owning Atlus games 'til I picked up Thousand Arms used back in 2000 or so, to be honest--kinda hard to play games you own on a console you don't own, y'know? Never did get my hands on P2:EP... ah well.

My first introduction to Atlus was actually a classic review Game Informer did years ago of Rhapsody. I was quite interested in the review and the game at the time, and I learned the company name from there. Sorry it isn't anything that's actually supporting the company like learning from one of the games (though I did play Snowboard Kids once years before that >_>), but it's where I know them from.

I still have that review by the way, because I don't have the game yet (still).

My very first Atlus game that I could recall is Bomberman World, which I didn't know was publish by Atlus until recently. First formal introduction to Atlus as a publisher/developer was back in September 2009 when a member from the PlaystationUniversity who went by the screen name Loki (didn't know it was a persona) kept talking about Persona 4.

I guess it is to no surprise that Atlus gained a lot more supporters after P3. I have still yet to experience P3 and P4, yet Atlus gained my attention from those two games.

Somebody gave me a copy of Nintendo Power that had an article on Ogre Battle 64. Everything about the game seemed interesting to me, but since I was still in school, I didn't have money for anything because I was too young to work, so I couldn't get the game. A few years later, I typed "Ogre Battle", and found out about Tactics Ogre for the GBA, courtesy of the Atlus website. As I continued navigating the Atlus site, I decided that Atlus was awesome. Hilariously enough, despite that, my first Atlus game was actually Contact.

My first experience was with Persona 2: Innocent Sin, that game was unique and I remember that I liked their style, and I still do to this day. I actually didn't know the company then, well to tell you the truth I was young and I didn't care ;)

Atlus got stuck in my head when I bought Persona 3&4 =)

Funny, but it wasn't Persona, even though I knew of it way back on the PS1. I was turned off from what I'd heard. Flash forward to Nocturne release, saw a preview that blew my mind pre-order was a must. Went nuts ever since about anything SMT. Have loved other depths Atlus has gone for publishing (Rule of Rose) & even enjoy the heck out of the new Trauma Team.

Found info, et cetera of earlier SMT titles, & refused to go without purchases of all I could find, matter of fact here they are, as I even bought the Super CD & Mega CD versions of SMT1. Now, if I could find 'SMT:if' at a decent price...

I've seen Atlus around for a while, but I didn't really pay much attention to them during the NES/SNES/Genesis and even the PS One days. My first Atlus game was Revelations: Persona and we got off on the wrong foot as I hated the game then and I still don't have a favorable impression of it today. Due to this negativity, I held on to my lukewarm attitude towards Atlus for a pretty long time. I was aware of Thousand Arms but I didn't quite give it a chance as those days I'm much more of a SquareSoft fanboy.

Since I played March of the Black Queen on the SNES, I skipped the PS One version. Never owned a N64 in my life, and that's one more chance to acquaint myself with Atlus that I passed up on. My introduction to SMT games is Persona 3, since I'm also late to the party for Nocturne. I'm not what you might label a true hardcore SMT fan as I've never heard of SMT in the 8/16bit era. I bought a GBA for the 3 Castlevania games, and that's about all the GBA games I have in my collection, hence my current regrets on not owing Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis. :-|

My turning point should be PS2 Disgaea as Atlus gave me the impression that they are willing to combat eBay pirates by first selling the reprint at the former MSRP, and later selling another reprint batch at Greatest Hits pricing to give everyone a fair chance at experiencing the game at reasonable prices. Anytime a company starts doing things that benefit its customers first is one way to get my attention fast. fyi, my perspectives on Disgaea as a game has more material for criticizing it than promoting it. :p

What keeps me as their fan are the ways they pamper their fans. It is true that most of the artbooks/OSTs they give away for free with their games contain roughly 70% of the content in the official Japanese versions that one would most certainly have to pay upwards of $30~$40 for, after S&H. Atlus was also pretty responsive in bringing Persona 3: Fes to English speaking fans, and pricing it fairly for both early and late adopters (none of that original and append disc bull#### the Japanese had to deal with!).

In short, it is more their corporate practices rather than what they publish that made me sit and take notice. It also helps that most of the games they print during the PS2 era are games that I adore so I would comment that the PS2 era is probably the pinnacle of my affections for Atlus, where they generated a lot of goodwill from this gamer. ^

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine could not go five seconds without talking about Persona 3. He would just go on and on about Persona's and Social Links and that I should get the game. Since my birthday was around the corner, I asked for it and my parents delivered. I was a little peeved by the concept of Evokers in Persona 3, but that was quickly dismissed and I enjoyed the game.

I looked into Atlus after that and kept tabs on when their other games would be released. I picked up P3: F.E.S. later and the games just followed. I just loved how they developed their characters and made them someone I could relate with (unlike Final Fantasy series).

I'm glad I listened to my friend.

I still don't understand how anyone could get pissed at the concept of Evokers.

I suppose "peeved" wasn't the right word. I wasn't really pissed at the idea either. It was just a concept I thought was new and it surprised me.

I was a Final Fantasy geek for a while, after all. I went from watching some chick wave her staff around to a dude pointing a gun shaped Evoker to his head to summon a Persona.

...possibly people who aren't comfortable with the glamorization of suicide?

It didn't offend me, personally, but I don't get how people...don't get why some people might find it uncomfortable.

Shooting your self in the head every time you do some type of special skill in battle is odd, but I like it. It makes Persona 3 the dark game it is, it reiterates the concept of death that the game focuses on.

I'm not sure what my first first was, but the earliest one I can remember is Robopon 2: Ring Version. I saw it in a discount games bin for 2 bucks.

A while later seeing the name Atlus on a GBA box made me pick up DemiKids: Light Version. (oddly enough what made me wanna buy it was because Jack Frost looked so cool)

I didn't know what MegaTen was until a few years later, but DemiKids always strikes a chord as my first real Atlus game.

I got myself into the Atlus games. :)
I had stumbled upon a short article of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and it was the game on my christmas list. Then, in 2007, my brother got it for me :3 (which is great considering how rare the game is now where I am!)
Have been hooked since, but the true addiction did not start until Persona. I bought Persona 3 for my brother's birthday, and we both could not let go of the Atlus taste since.

My first introduction to Atlus was Ogre Battle 64. I really enjoyed it, but it was a really long game. I remember there was an in-game glitch where you could get an infinite number of any item, and I used that on an item that increased the level of one of your guys, and leveled all my people to some ridiculous level.

I actually got a good ending, what I did was liberate some towns in the beginning to earn a good reputation, and for the rest of the game I just sent my strongest dudes to take out the enemy capital city, bypassing all their towns.

I know I'm cheap. I just valued the storyline more than the gameplay. I would probably pick up the sequel if they ever made one. I hope it has another glitch though.

I believe the first game with the Atlus title on it that I had may have been Kartia, but it was their publishing of Disgaea that made them more noticeable for me. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne really sealed the deal and hammered home what they were capable of. We've followed them avidly ever since.

1st Atlus Game: Odin Sphere, which I honestly did not like (gameplay wise) Art and Story were cool though.

2nd Atlus Game: Disgaia. Still havent played it much.

so persona 3 was the game that got me truly into the atlus rpgs. but i played trauma team first.

My history with Atlus is long and storied. The very first Atlus-published game I have is Super Valis IV for the SNES, which surprised me, because I knew Telenet Japan had developed SVIV, but I didn't realize at the time Atlus had localized the game.

My first Atlus-made game that I bought and really made me take notice of Atlus as a company was Persona 1 for the PSX, back when they called it Revelations: Persona. I believe it and Suikoden were the first RPGs I bought for the PS1. I loved the game, despite it's so-bad-it's-hilarious localization, and when Kartia was released, I bought it and was officially from there on an Atlus fan, buying numerous games ever since, all of which I still own.:)

Hell, I bought CONSOLES because of Atlus (N64 says hi) and Atlus games are the sole reason I kept my PS1 and PS2, and even bought a slim PS2 in case the fat one ever breaks. Now that Catherine is coming out, Atlus is going to make me bite the bullet and finally buy a PS3 (or possibly another Xbox360)! You might want to mention this to the console manufacturers, Atlus USA.8)

I haven't sold any of my Atlus games to date, with only one exception. I used to own Trap Gunner, but I sold it because the game was in terrible condition and it barely worked. I sold it for $5 at Half Price Books.

I would go into such a happy game induced coma if I heard this game was getting remastered with trophy/achievement support. But my fandom with atlus didn't really start until the Suikoden games.

All of this except my first Atlus game was Trauma Center: Second Opinion. Loved the gameplay, loved the music, loved the X.

Well, this is an appropriate thread. Being as this is somewhat of my own inception into the ATLUS USA forum, it's only necessary to start with what Atlus game first attracted me to the publisher/developer.

I didn't have a Playstation back in the day, so I relied on the good old N64.

My first exposure to Atlus was in November 1997, just around my 17th birthday, when I purchased a copy of Revelations: Persona because it seemed to match with the introspective, dark feelings I retained from my first viewing of Neon Genesis Evangelion in that same year. Since that time, Shin Megami Tensei and the Persona sub-series have become my favorite titles in a large collection spanning 48 game systems and 1300+ games.
